Before pregnancy, I ate a lot of chicken. I lost 60 pounds and tried to eat well balanced and lowfat. Since being pregnant, I cannot eat chicken breast unless it is a strip or a nugget. Anything else make me nauseas. I have been using a lot of ground turkey, but my recipe base is getting old and I keep finding myself wanting to eat out. Does anyone have any good recipes that don't involve chicken?
Re: Dinner Suggestions(without chicken)
What do you like? Do you want to stay with just lean protein or is a good veggie or bacon-infused dish ok?
Any recipe that you like, i'm up for trying.
Thanks!
I have a tasty meatloaf recipe out of my "healthy cooking for two" recipe book.
1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 egg
1 tsp of dried basil or oregano
1/2 tsp salt
pinch of pepper
1/4 cup of ketchup
2 tbl of lemon juice
1 small onion chopped
1 clove of crushed garlic
4 sprigs fresh parsley
preheat the oven to 350.
Combine beef, bread crumbs, egg, basil or oregano, and pepper
In a blender combine ketchup, lemon juice, onion, garlic and parsley - combine until onions and parley are coarsely pureed.
Mix all together, shape into a load and back 40 to 50 minutes.
I have a really hard time with meat too, mostly red meat, but I make a ton of meatless meals!!
1. Ravioli with marinara, salad, and bread
2. fancy grilled cheese (with two kinds of cheese) and tomato soup
3. pasta primavera with blush sauce (noodles with steamed veggies such as onions, mushrooms, broccoli) with salad
