wwyd if...

your inlaws wanted to be called 'big mama' and 'big daddy?'

just. can't. do. it.

I'll be teaching Logan to call them grandmama and grandaddy.

MIL told me this over t-giving.  I'm sure the look on my face was priceless.

Re: wwyd if...

  • Uh, no. I like yours MUCH better. LOL.

  • That's hilarious.

Sadly, my dad asked to be called "Big Poppa."  Yes, like the rapper.  (Dad says he's an old G.  Please don't ask.)  My niece couldn't put that together and started calling him Boppa.  It stuck.  Now he's Boppa or Boppie.

  • They just decided this? Seems like they left that decision a bit late.

Regardless, that's very silly. I couldn't do it, either. I'm not sure how I would handle it, but I'm sitting here, shaking my head in disbelief that anyone would want to be called such a thing.

  • I pretty much told her that they would be called whatever Logan ended up calling them since she is the first grandchild.

I will be sure that it won't be big mama or big daddy.  That's a big fat HAIL no!

  • OMG.  I taught Benjamin to call his grandpa (FIL) "grandpoooooooooo" because I can't stand him.

And the only  toddler (the only grandchild, therefore the trendsetter).

But that "big" stuff...um, no, not a chance in h-e-l-l

  • Ha!  Nope, I wouldn't do that either.

SIL just had a baby in july so I'm sure she has had influence on this.  She calls mil big mama. ....I've always thought it was dumb.  sil was in town for t-giving so I'm sure they talked about this.  Before the second grandchild was born, they were always referred to as grandmama and granddaddy.

I'm definitely shaking my head about it.  They can really drive me crazy sometimes.

  • I would have said YIKES... and laughed nervously.. then said hell no.
  • BWAHAHAHAHA

I'm sorry, but all I can think about is that song "I like it when you call me big papa!"

    That is awful. And strange.?

    Hilarious!

    ?

No way. ?Although MIL wants my kids to call FIL "Papa," and I won't let them b/c MH was a huge *** to me about my kids calling my mom "Bubbe," which is what she wanted.?

  • LOL!!  There's no way I could bring myself to do that either.

  • Thanks, girls.  I knew I just wasn't being a heartless, b*tchy daughter-in-law!  Wink
  • OMG...that is awful!  Are they total hillbilly's?that is all I can think of the names.

  • I'd laugh at them.  No really I would.  Then I would teach my child to call them something they hated.
