Just had my growth scan this morning, and LO is measuring 6lbs 14ozs with a month to go! DD was 7lbs 2oz when she was born, so I'm potentially looking at a big 8lb'er if s/he continues to gain the .5lb per week. Yikes!!
Sonographer said s/he is in the 65 percentile, but I'm curious where others weighed in.
Re: How big was your baby at 36w?
Best Wishes to my labor buddy FunNSunAZ!
"Well I've waited so long, so long, so long For someone like you And as this morning breaks through the window pane It reveals the truth Baby, you're my sunshine, first light Find your way to places that only know lies Failed tries and bruised skies With hardly time to hold on or be strong, now I'm strong 'Cos like the dawn you push it all away I tell ya, you're my sunshine
Everybody needs a little sunshine"

At my 34 week growth scan, baby was estimated at 6lbs 7oz so I am looking at a big baby too. Doc said this DD is in the 87th precentile!
DD#1 was 8.9 lbs and she was born at 37 weeks.
My blog
He was 6 lbs 1 oz at 34w 5d when he was born....he'd have been huge full term!

My last ultrasound was at 18 weeks. No growth scan for me! I wonder if that's typical? My doctor estimated last week that the baby would be on the small side - 7 to 7.5 lbs.
I wasn't really supposed to have one either ... I asked my M/Ws how "all these people" (see also: Bumpies) knew how big their babies were at 36+ weeks, and she asked if I wanted to have an u/s. They have a sonographer come to the office on Weds mornings, so we just made our 36 wk appt for today so I could have an u/s "for fun". Now I kinda wish I didn't know!
I don't have anymore u/s either- only the 20 week one.
But out of curiosity I asked my MW at my appointment today if there was a way she could estimate how big LO is. After feeling around and measuring my tummy, she guesses he's about 7.5 lbs and will probably max out at about 8.5 lbs when he's born.
Either way, her measuring or the u/s are both just that-- estimates!
Not that I'm trying to be a total killjoy....
But I have head that these estimates are often wrong. My BFF was told she was going to have a 9 lb baby and she had only an almost 6lb one. Her Dr even induced her because the "baby was so going to be so big" so they induce her...and baby is barely 6 lbs. hmmmmm...........
When I asked My dr why so many people get growth scans and I haven't had any she said doesn't do growth scans because they are often just guesses...that are often off. Unless there is a problem she doesn't see the point.
So I guess Im just in for a surprise!
I don't get a growth u/s either, so I have no idea how much LO is weighing. DH and I were both average sized babies (I was 6lbs even and DH was 7lbs something), so hopefully LO takes after us.
