Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?)
Rants/Raves/Questions
GTKY: If you had to choose what one food (single item or meal) would you eat for the rest of your life, exclusively. (just for silly fun) And....What is the one recipe you can always nail or what is a recipe that you want to master
How are you feeling? Finally having moments of feeling worse then I have been but still not so bad. Sore boobs, nipples hurt :-0 some insomnia. I am a blumpy blump blump, I haven't even looked at my jeans or regular pants for weeks, strictly stretchy yoga pants for me!
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) We had our chat with our midwives last night, just a chance to ask some questions. I still need to tour my local birth center because it's looking like if I went to a birth center I would save thousands of dollars, but we are pretty set on a home birth. I also am going to tour some local hospitals in case I have to transfer during labor. My first appointment isn't until 2/9.
Rants/Raves/Questions I'm just in a holding pattern waiting for my first u/s at 11 weeks.
GTKY: If you had to choose what one food (single item or meal) would you eat for the rest of your life, exclusively. (just for silly fun)
FRENCH FRIES!!! I can eat french fries for days!
And....What is the one recipe you can always nail or what is a recipe that you want to master
My Dh always asks for my salmon in parchment paper. It's so easy! I chop leeks, chard and mushrooms and make a pile of them all together, I pour some rice vinegar over the veggies. I put lemon juice, salt and pepper and brown sugar on the salmon and place it skin side up over the pile of veggies (sugar side on the veggies.) I put some tamari and olive oil on the salmon and veggies and seal the parchment paper package. Cook at 425 for 20-25min and voila!
How are you feeling? Pretty good. Nauseous throughout the day, but I still haven't thrown up, so that's something.
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) Last week I had an US and we could only see the yolk sacs. Yesterday, I had an US to check for heartbeats and I'm ecstatic to report that we saw both! Both babies were measuring exactly 7 weeks and Baby A's HB was 143, while Baby B's HB was 130. I have two kiddos so I remember how amazing it is to see those little flickering hearts, but there was something about seeing two of them side by side that just left me awe struck!
Rants/Raves/Questions I'm finding it insanely difficult to keep this news quiet. DH and I agreed to wait until 13 weeks to tell our kids so we really can't tell anyone else before that. I want to tell my mom (on the phone the other day, I almost slipped and told her), but then DH would get to tell his mom and she is a giant blabber mouth who would tell the world. So we have to stay quiet for 6 more weeks which seems like an eternity!!!
GTKY: If you had to choose what one food (single item or meal) would you eat for the rest of your life, exclusively. (just for silly fun) And....What is the one recipe you can always nail or what is a recipe that you want to master Iguess I would choose to eat ribeye with a side of mac and cheese for eternity. Of course, I could realistically only live a few years eating that since the fat and cholesterol would kill me! I don't know that I have a single recipe that I always nail, but I can usually always keep from flopping a baked item. I like baking!
My blump is less blumpy this morning, which disturbs me. It fluctuates
throughout the day, but I hate when it is very small. My PGAL brain
starts to wonder.
GTKY:
Hmm...this is difficult. Maybe a burrito? I put lots of stuff in there, so it would cover a lot of bases. Like @SsoccerballI'm best with baked goods. I'm not a great cook.

Nausea still comes and goes (ugh), I'm super tired all the time and getting some cramps and weird stomach aches (different than cramps, makes me think my digestive system is struggling with all the hormones or something?). I really hope that I start feeling better soon....
I have some GREAT baby news! Got back the results from my cell-free DNA test today (after only 5 days!!). Everything looks great - super low risk and all of that. Whew! And we found out the baby's sex....WE ARE HAVING A BOY!!! Oh boy!!! DH thought girl, I thought boy. DH seems a bit terrified of having a wild boy but I'm fine - I'm quite rambunctious and love play-wrestling and all of that. Plus you never know what kind of boy you will get (the rowdy, rough type or the quiet, calm type). Either way, it made it way more real for us! We are wanting to wait until Valentine's Day weekend to do the big announcement but not sure we'll last until then - this belly bump is becoming a bit more obvious as each day goes by. Plus I have a dance performance next weekend and will be wearing a leotard! How are you supposed to hide a baby bump in a leotard?!?!?!?
GTKY: I would pick Mexican food! Basically refried beans and quesadillas (made with corn tortillas and Daiya vegan cheese). This is what I've had almost every day (for lunch or dinner) for the past month or so. I'm not sick of it yet!
I'm really good at making salads. I get super creative and have never really made a bad salad. I get so excited at all the possibilities, dressing ideas, etc. And everyone always loves them!!

stomach bug ripped through our house over the weekend. Never in my life. DS woke up Friday night puking, never pukes, I hate puke. Saturday it switched to the other end. Just off and he didn't eat much, Sunday night I get into bed at 10pm, nauseous, thinking Ms is back, ugh. Nope, until 5am I sprint back and forth to the bathroom puking and pooping, which felt like contractions as I'm constipated 24/7, zero sleep. Hubs walked in at 4am, hearing my puke, not sure how he missed the previous 6 hrs, and says 'so is this going to happen to me in an hr,' grrrrr, he's lucky I was kneeling over the toilet, throat punch! Think I can only related a bout with food poisoning 10 years ago to this, wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy.
feeling this little girl moving around a lot, I didn't feel DS til nearly 30 weeks last time, so this is fun.
i could eat cupcakes day and night, love love love. I make a mean chicken parm!
How are you feeling? I have been feeling pretty good. Definitely feeling more tired as the weeks go on, and walking slower everyday. My belly actually feels "heavy".
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) Just had an appointment this week, and baby girl is progressing nicely! Doc measured that she is about 1.8 lbs. already!
Rants/Raves/Questions Rave: Love feeling her move! I forgot what an amazing feeling that is. Rant: I am so tired of work already, and still have a long way to go! (I work full time and have 2 kids).
GTKY:If you had to choose what one food (single item or meal) would you eat for the rest of your life, exclusively. (just for silly fun) Pasta!
And....What is the one recipe you can always nail or what is a recipe that you want to master: I am great at baking and making breakfast. Not the best cook...I would like to master making homemade chinese food!
How are you feeling? Pretty good. I am still exhausted all the time and have some weird boob pain. And I guess my guts aren't totally normal--seem to move between constipation and gotta go now!!!! I am so hungry. And sometimes after I eat, I feel nauseous. But overall, I feel mostly pretty good.
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) I have my first scan and appointment on Monday at 1. I have been trying to plan things to make this weekend go by quickly. I am nervous and excited and all of that and just want to see that all is well.
Rants/Raves/Questions um. I don't think so. Well, I guess the whole family has been sick with colds and I finally took DS to the doctor yesterday because he was just screaming all the time and he is normally a really happy kid. Turns out he has a double ear infection. I felt so bad. But I don't know how I would have known to take him in any sooner. He is doing waaaaay better after a couple of doses of antibiotics. I'm hopeful that maybe we'll both get some sleep tonight.
GTKY: If you had to choose what one food (single item or meal) would you eat for the rest of your life, exclusively. (just for silly fun) And....What is the one recipe you can always nail or what is a recipe that you want to master
oh my gosh--you guys made me so hungry! Now I want all the French fries, all the steak, all the Mexican food, all the cupcakes, etc. I would probably choose to live on pizza, though, because you can change up the toppings. (But let's face it--I'd probably eat Pepperoni, olives, and pineapple on it for years)
i used to to cook so much. Now I make things that make big quantities (DH is a big eater) and are easy. I loved making homemade Indian food. It was a good challenge and it always tastes yum. I also LOVE to bake pies and cakes.
@jilligan14 - congratulations on your BOY!! And on getting your results back so fast. HOLY MOLY!
How far along are you? 9w4d
How are you feeling? OMG! So much better! That stomach bug was no joke. Four damn days!! The only good thing is that my hubby and daughter somehow escaped it (so sorry @Wyattnash00!). Other than that, I'm not eating much, so one of my worst pregnancy symptom (heartburn) hasn't come back yet. The fatigue remains! ***Warning: I'm not rubbing it in, but if you're feeling especially sick, skip to the next question *** I'm still so amazed that I don't have horrible morning sickness with two babies in there. I feel so much better than I did with my daughter. It baffles me. Maybe it's the acupuncture?
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) Had my second ultrasound today (see separate post). I'm feeling so relieved the babies looked good today! I had a nurse intake visit at my OB office this week and talked over the timeline, etc. It was nice, but not especially helpful because I have a ton of twin related questions she couldn't answer. I see my OB on Tuesday though, so that's nice.
Rants/Raves/Questions: RANT: I was looking at the timeline for things and it looks like my OB office doesn't do the NT scan if they do Harmony testing (free cell DNA), which makes sense, but I want another ultrasound before 20 weeks!!!! Wow, that sounds bratty. I am going to ask my OB though. RAVE: I called the company that does the Harmony and I should have to pay no more than $130 out of pocket for the test. I though it may be less but my insurance is out of network for the company. Go figure. 41 years old with IVF twins, I just thought they'd pay me to take the test!! HAHA!
GTKY:If you had to choose what one food (single item or meal) would you eat for the rest of your life, exclusively. (just for silly fun) Right now, since it's my number one craving - I'd say PIZZA!!
And....What is the one recipe you can always nail or what is a recipe that you want to master: I make a mean enchilada.

I
feel pretty good. I'm pretty sure I'm feeling more movements this week,
which makes me happy. I just wish I knew FOR SURE that these strange
sensations I have sometimes deep in my pelvis are baby. As an FTM I
really don't know what to expect. Also, I have an anterior placenta so
that's supposed dampen the movements. But the other day I had some
spotting and I was just like "Damn, if I was confident about these
movements I wouldn't be freaking out".
No baby news. I don't have an appointment for a while. I'm just hoping he's still growing in there.
Rants/Raves/Questions:
My sex life needs some serious help. My libido is terrible and I can't
seem to get aroused unless I'm on bottom and that's just not working
anymore thanks to my growing belly... Anyone have any suggestions?
GTKY: Actually,
the idea of having to eat ONE thing for the rest of my life is kind of
nauseating. Even my favorite foods in the whole world would get boring
after a few days. I love to cook. I bake a mean apple pie, every time! My mac and cheese is pretty foolproof as well.
Me: 40 DH: 43 Married 5/30/15 TTC #1 June 2015 BFP #1 9/28/15, EDD 6/10/16. DS born 5/23/16! TTC #2 May 2017 BFP #2 m/c 11/18/17 5w5d BFP #3 12/17/17 EDD 8/25/18. It's a boy!
@emsmama15, I never had the NT test, but did harmony with both babies, I'm not the expert on this, but harmony tests for all things the NT does and is more accurate. I've read a lot about false positives. I'm shocked the harmony isn't covered with ivf twins and you being soooo old and all;)
@redheadbride15, were in the same boat with our sex life. And I'm with you on being on bottom, my hubs has supported himself up for the most part but I'm getting too big. Plus being on top is like a workout, hubs has a huh libido so no sex or sex activity makes him angry. We did a steamy shower session a couple weeks ago, watched porn together, going into the archives at this point to spice it up!
How are you feeling? Other than freaking out about spotting yesterday, pretty well. Still a bit more tired than usual, but definitely feeling like I'm regaining energy.
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) Just waiting for my Harmony blood draw on 2/12 and midwife appointment on 2/15. I think I'll also be having an NT scan, but it's not scheduled yet. @emsmama15and @Wyattnash00, my OB thinks the NT scan is still useful if you have the cell0free DNA test b/c they can see anomalies that are not picked up with the blood test (including non-genetic issues).
Rants/Raves/Questions I am soooo dang tired of not telling people I"m pregnant yet. I work with a bunch of friends and it's torture every day keeping it from them. That said, I just can't stomach the idea of telling folks and then finding out something terrible when my blood work comes back.
GTKY:
If you had to choose what one food (single item or meal) would you eat
for the rest of your life, exclusively. (just for silly fun) I love a good thai pork larb or pretty much anything mexican
And....What is the one recipe you can always nail or what is a recipe that you want to master My DP does all of the cooking b/c he's good at it and enjoys it!
How far along are you? 4w5d How are you feeling? I'm pretty tired. I'm tired of being tired, and I want to take naps at work. The struggle is real. I'm not really sleeping well. My stomach just feels kind of 'ugh' and I don't think I'd call it MS, but it's definitely not normal for me. Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) Had my 2nd beta yesterday, and don't have anymore betas as I hit the 1000 mark. I am now in a waiting pattern for two weeks for the ultrasound to confirm the baby or babies inside. My mom cancelled our weekend with her the weekend before and wants it after the ultrasound so she knows how many we need to shop for (it's our first.. she's SUPER excited). Rants/Raves/Questions My rants are that I don't like waiting and I'm tired of the PIO shot and i'm only a third of the way through with them. My rave is that I'm finally pregnant!!! My question would be that I'm interested in prenatal yoga, but have never done yoga but once.. is it a really relaxing, easy type of class I could do? Have any of you done prenatal yoga? GTKY: If you had to choose what one food (single item or meal) would you eat for the rest of your life, exclusively. (just for silly fun) Chickfila sandwich, no pickles, with an unsweet tea And....What is the one recipe you can always nail or what is a recipe that you want to master I can make a mean brownie from scratch. Like many of you, I'm a baker, not a cook.
@Piperella I am a prenatal yoga teacher My classes are actually rather challenging because I want my mamas to feel strong and to be prepared for carrying the weight of a baby as the pregnancy progresses, and be prepared for labor and delivery (vaginal or cesarian birth). In the classes that I teach we do a lot of work to cultivate the health of the pelvic floor (so you don't accidentally pee yourself with a sneeze, a cough ect.. during or after pregnancy.) We do a lot of specific pregnancy squats because the new thinking in the professional community is kegels are actually counterproductive to what they are supposed to be doing, which is toning the vaginal muscles and pelvic floor. We do standing poses to build the strength of the legs, because the legs really are the powerhouse that will get you through labor.
Some classes will be easier then others and it may depend completely on the instructor teaching the class. Many mama's that attend my classes are coming to yoga for the very first time, so we are doing simple but strong work so it isn't beyond the capacity of what a beginner can do. And all of the mama's feel very relaxed at the end of class. Yoga can help you breathe easier, relieve back and hip pain and alleviate many common pregnancy ailments plus lots lots more. Meeting the other mamas in the classes is one of the best perks because these might be the ladies you have play dates with once the babies arrive.
If you are looking for a super gentle, relaxing class I would try a class that is called restorative, gentle or yin yoga and hopefully the instructor will be able to accommodate a prenatal practice. Personally I would ask an instructor if they are comfortable accommodating a prenatal practice and if they seem hesitant find a different instructor. Prenatal is not necessarily well covered in a regular YTT training, I did an advanced training that was specific to pre/post natal.
Let me know if I can answer any other questions you might have!

I speak from experience when I say squats are the way to go. I had a completely natural (and positive) childbirth and labored almost entirely in a squat position in the shower. It was just what my body told me to do and it did the trick. I went to prenatal yoga twice a week leading up to it and always felt relaxed at the same time as empowered after. I think you'll be fine as a beginner, @Piperella and I would highly recommend it! I haven't started yet bc I live a small town where I'm sure to know someone in class and I haven't come out of the pregnancy closet yet. I will definitely start up in 2nd. Tri.
How are you feeling? Feeling pretty good lately but I have moments of extreme fatigue where I can barely move. I've also had few bad headaches this week. My DS was sick with a high fever so I was nervous about it spreading to the rest of us but I think we are in the clear...for now!
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) I had my check-up last Friday and the OB said everything was fine with the ultrasound and I shouldn't worry about the EIF they saw on her heart. I'll have a growth scan around 32-34 weeks and they will check things out at that point. It may go away but even if it doesn't it's not a big deal.
Rants/Raves/Questions. No rants but I feel guilty a lot for snapping at DH and the kids. I'm just overwhelmed sometimes and need a break!
GTKY: If you had to choose what one food (single item or meal) would you eat for the rest of your life, exclusively. (just for silly fun). I could seriously live off of cheese...
And....What is the one recipe you can always nail or what is a recipe that you want to master I've never screwed up italian roast beef. It's always on the menu when we have parties.
I'm feeling tired, bloated and irritable. My boobs are sore and my skin is oily. Im sure DH would say that I'm a joy to be around
Nothing new to report
rant: I feel like I've been 5 weeks 3 days for 3 weeks!!! Rave: the library had some great books to chose from. @Sporty1216 I have "Pregnancy Day by Day" on hold. I'll purchase any that I really like. @Piperella I've been thinking about prenatal yoga too and was able to find a yoga during pregnancy book.
GTKY I absolutely hate "if you had to choose one.." questions! I'm indecisive even in hypothetical situations. I like @CarrieandRoy 's answer. I could definitely eat burritos every day. With lots of sour cream on the side. I love to cook, but don't do much baking. I've been wanting to try making scones and biscotti.
How are you feeling? Energy is good getting harder to do certain things like bend down, and sit cross-legged.
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) Next OB appt is Monday. Not sure what to expect for this one. I spent most of yesterday organizing the baby's room and will do some more tomorrow.
Rants/Raves/Questions: raving about the new restaurant I went to the other night! Boston locals must try Sarma in Somerville: kind of off the beaten path but totally worth it. I ate octopus and I liked it! Parking is limited and reservations are a must but the food and dining experience are amazing: Turkish and Middle Eastern tapas. Perfect for a date night (also good mocktails)! Waitstaff are friendly and knowledgeable and the atmosphere is warm and not overly loud.
GTKY: If you had to choose what one food what would it be? Peanut Butter. Without a doubt. Peanut butter makes everything better.
Cooking: i love to cook but lately meals have been super simple. I make an amazing stir fry with a sauce of my own creation. I also can make a mean Haddock Edelia, and anazing chocolate chip cookies with no recipe.

We do standing poses to build the strength of the legs, because the legs really are the powerhouse that will get you through labor. I love squats! I teach fitness at an Assisted Living Facility. Squats (modified, generaly) and accompanying hip/knee/ankle exercises are the basis for my programs! I use variations like sit-to-stand (getting in and out of a chair with no hands), mini squats no deeper than 45 degrees at the knees (better for those ith arthritis) and squats with a swiss ball against the wall. I've also found that tying an elastic band just above ones' knees does wonders for hip (piriformis) strength!
2- feeling good so far. Slowly getting my energy back so my messy house is driving me nuts.
3- baby news- had my NT scan which was great. Also had some great news about my harmony blood work. We will not be doing any other amino type test. The doc explained the risk of loss and if my other tests were showing signs I would do it but a 1 in 10,000 chance of a syndrome does not sound risky enough.
GTKY- I love this chop meat casserole with cheese and veggies. I could probably do that daily. Or at type of chicken. as for something I wish I could cook it would be my mom's chicken soup. I'm sure mine would come out the same but it's just not the same as when mom makes it.
Ty for all the tips on yoga, @createillumination! I found a place that said they offered it, but it's not on the schedule. I'll have to look at a few other places. I'm very early into the first trimester, so when would you recommend I start? I don't want to be laughed at because I don't have a bump and won't have one for a bit.
How are you feeling? nausea and completely exhausted. I usually doze off after dinner at 7pm!
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) Ultrasound #2 (9wks) on Wednesday. Hoping all goes well!
Rants/Raves/Questions Anyone have a glass of wine here or there while pregnant? Sometimes I just want one but feel guilty about it!
GTKY: If you had to choose what one food (single item or meal) would you eat for the rest of your life, exclusively. (just for silly fun) I looooove buffalo wings. And for health purposes, maybe a side of celery and carrots.
And....What is the one recipe you can always nail or what is a recipe that you want to master i make really great roast beef and mashed potatoes. Yum.
Interested in in these pregnancy squats? Similar to regular squats?
Tried for DS for 1 year; one dose clomid Nov 2011 = DS born on 8/10/12 BFP 6/30/15 MMC 7wks 5 days D/E 8/9/15 BFP 1/8/16 EDD 9/9/16
@Piperella It's common for mama's to come in as early as 6 weeks, but a lot of people won't come in until the 2nd trimester just because they feel so yucky throughout the 1st tri. Bump size has no bearing on when to come it It's super important that women avoid yoga twists at any time during pregnancy, there are some prenatal twists that are centered in the upper back and are ok but not every instructor will know those.
@tiffanyhr Here is a video of the general idea of pregnancy squats. I would add to the information inhale **down**- exhale straighten and come up (many times that is taught the other way.) Also try pushing through the big toe as you straighten the legs to engage the pelvic floor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBaciLLbfPE
@lillebowski23 you rock with the squats! That is so awesome you do that with your peeps! My husband was just teaching his parents (in their 70's) chair squats.
Pretty good with the exception of heartburn all day every day
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?)
Not much going on here, just pilling fat on this kiddo. Had a midwife visit a few days ago, and everything is looking good at this point.
Rants/Raves/Questions
So I've started my top-to-bottom clean of my house, which means nesting has finally kicked in (yay!) However, I get about halfway through a project and need to stop and rest because I am exhausted, which means I rarely finish anything in one day. Super annoying. My baby shopping list seems to grow no matter how much stuff we have-- how does this happen? I just want to feel ready so I can relax!
GTKY: If you had to choose what one food (single item or meal) would you eat for the rest of your life, exclusively. (just for silly fun)
Oh, probably Thai food. Or Indian food. And....What is the one recipe you can always nail or what is a recipe that you want to master
I have an amazing crockpot/ dutch oven chicken tikki masala recipe that is super easy (read: just toss everything in and leave it for hours) that everyone in my house loves. I can put any vegetable in it, so I cut up whatever has been sitting in my fridge and throw it in the pot. I make ginger tumeric rice to go with it. It is so, so good.
I would love to be able to make perfect croissants. That's my banking fantasy.
@createillumination I always eat all my french fries before my entree. I have no self control when it comes to french fries!
@Sporty1216 and @emsmama15 here you go! I hope it's OK that I copy and pasted this. *The link to the rice recipe is in the ingredients list. Enjoy! It's hard to screw this up!
A few things I do differently... -I ALWAYS double the recipe -I often forget the jalapeño and it turns out fine -I never use the tapioca flour, i don't think it's necessary -add whatever other vegetables you like. I always add carrots and mushrooms -I use a pint of cream instead of cream and yogurt, because I love cream -I cook this on the stove in a dutch oven and it works really well. I cook it for at least two hours, sometimes more, till the chicken has fallen apart into pieces.
In a mixing bowl, combine the onion, garlic, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, ginger, turmeric, jalapeno, all of the spices, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine
Add the raw chicken to the bowl and mix together.
Pour everything into a crock pot and set on the lowest setting for 4 to 6 hours, until meat is cooked through. (If cooking on high, check after 2 hours, and continue checking every 30 minutes thereafter. It should only take between 2 and 3 hours).
30 minutes before the tikka masala is finished cooking, whisk together the heavy cream and tapioca starch in a small bowl until all of the clumps are out.
Add the cream mixture and yogurt to the crock pot and stir well. Replace the lid and finish cooking, stirring occasionally. The longer the mixture sits, the thicker it will become. Note: if necessary, raise the heat of your crock pot to high.
Serve with fresh chopped cilantro, a dollup of plain yogurt, and turmeric ginger rice.
@mthoomom that sounds sooooo delicious (and easy!). I want it for breakfast right now. It's times like this that I really, really wish my DH liked Indian food...
Me: 40 DH: 43 Married 5/30/15 TTC #1 June 2015 BFP #1 9/28/15, EDD 6/10/16. DS born 5/23/16! TTC #2 May 2017 BFP #2 m/c 11/18/17 5w5d BFP #3 12/17/17 EDD 8/25/18. It's a boy!
Have some back soreness in the mornings, sometimes bottomless pit hunger, nothing too bad overall.
I've officially moved to midwife check-ins every two weeks. I'm measuring exactly for my due date and heartbeat nice and strong. Baby is definitely getting bigger (grow, baby, grow!) because I seem to have popped out even more in the last 2 weeks.
@mthoomom thanks for posting your nesting is kicking in, as mine has not! My rant was going to be about my lack of motivation and that I'd rather share the couch on weekends with DH and my cats, marathoning Top Chef and Game of Thrones. Please send nesting vibes. And to your question, I waited until 2nd tri to have any beer or wine and to be honest, I just never really feel like it. I've had a half a glass at dinners out on date night and don't feel guilty at all. I'd have a whole glass if I was up for it! P.S. Thanks for the recipe!
I'd definitely choose burritos as my forever food to eat. Especially being in LA. I could throw a rock out the window and hit a great Mexican stand every time.
I can pretty much nail everything in a Dutch oven - roasts, ribs, loins, etc. I make it slightly different every time with whatever is on hand and it cooks well. I aspire to be a better baker though! Jealous of you Betty Crockers!
It's finally the day of my first appointment! I'm so anxious and excited. I'd be grateful for any thoughts and prayers that all goes well. The appointment is at 1. Now to find ways to make the time pass quickly!
Re: Weekly check-in 1/29
How are you feeling?

Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?)
Last week I had an US and we could only see the yolk sacs.
Rants/Raves/Questions
I'm finding it insanely difficult to keep this news quiet.
(just for silly fun)
And....What is the one recipe you can always nail or what is a recipe that you want to master
I guess I would choose to eat ribeye with a side of mac and cheese for eternity. Of course, I could realistically only live a few years eating that since the fat and cholesterol would kill me! I don't know that I have a single recipe that I always nail, but I can usually always keep from flopping a baked item. I like baking!
Pretty good. Tired sometimes.
No baby news.
My blump is less blumpy this morning, which disturbs me. It fluctuates throughout the day, but I hate when it is very small. My PGAL brain starts to wonder.
GTKY:
Hmm...this is difficult. Maybe a burrito? I put lots of stuff in there, so it would cover a lot of bases.
Like @Ssoccerball I'm best with baked goods.

@createillumination, so fun to meet with your midwife! Makes it very real!
@ssoccerball, yay for seeing babies heartbeats!!
20.4 weeks, feeling huge!
stomach bug ripped through our house over the weekend.
GTKY: If you had to choose what one food (single item or meal) would you eat for the rest of your life, exclusively.
(just for silly fun)
And....What is the one recipe you can always nail or what is a recipe that you want to master
oh my gosh--you guys made me so hungry!
HAHA!
GTKY: If you had to choose what one food (single item or meal) would you eat for the rest of your life, exclusively. (just for silly fun) Right now, since it's my number one craving - I'd say PIZZA!!
And....What is the one recipe you can always nail or what is a recipe that you want to master: I make a mean enchilada.

I'm 21w3d today.
I feel pretty good. I'm pretty sure I'm feeling more movements this week, which makes me happy. I just wish I knew FOR SURE that these strange sensations I have sometimes deep in my pelvis are baby. As an FTM I really don't know what to expect. Also, I have an anterior placenta so that's supposed dampen the movements. But the other day I had some spotting and I was just like "Damn, if I was confident about these movements I wouldn't be freaking out".
No baby news. I don't have an appointment for a while. I'm just hoping he's still growing in there.
Rants/Raves/Questions: My sex life needs some serious help. My libido is terrible and I can't seem to get aroused unless I'm on bottom and that's just not working anymore thanks to my growing belly... Anyone have any suggestions?
GTKY:
Actually, the idea of having to eat ONE thing for the rest of my life is kind of nauseating. Even my favorite foods in the whole world would get boring after a few days.
I love to cook. I bake a mean apple pie, every time! My mac and cheese is pretty foolproof as well.

@emsmama15 and @Wyattnash00, my OB thinks the NT scan is still useful if you have the cell0free DNA test b/c they can see anomalies that are not picked up with the blood test (including non-genetic issues).
Rants/Raves/Questions I am soooo dang tired of not telling people I"m pregnant yet. I work with a bunch of friends and it's torture every day keeping it from them. That said, I just can't stomach the idea of telling folks and then finding out something terrible when my blood work comes back.
GTKY: If you had to choose what one food (single item or meal) would you eat for the rest of your life, exclusively. (just for silly fun)
I love a good thai pork larb or pretty much anything mexican
And....What is the one recipe you can always nail or what is a recipe that you want to master
My DP does all of the cooking b/c he's good at it and enjoys it!
How are you feeling?
(just for silly fun) Chickfila sandwich, no pickles, with an unsweet tea
And....What is the one recipe you can always nail or what is a recipe that you want to master I can make a mean brownie from scratch. Like many of you, I'm a baker, not a cook.

How are you feeling?
Feeling pretty good lately but I have moments of extreme fatigue where I can barely move. I've also had few bad headaches this week. My DS was sick with a high fever so I was nervous about it spreading to the rest of us but I think we are in the clear...for now!
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?)
I had my check-up last Friday and the OB said everything was fine with the ultrasound and I shouldn't worry about the EIF they saw on her heart.
And....What is the one recipe you can always nail or what is a recipe that you want to master
I've never screwed up italian roast beef.
I also can make a mean Haddock Edelia, and anazing chocolate chip cookies with no recipe.
presently 12 weeks and a few days
2- feeling good so far. Slowly getting my energy back so my messy house is driving me nuts.
3- baby news-
had my NT scan which was great.

How are you feeling?
nausea and completely exhausted. I usually doze off after dinner at 7pm!
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?)
Ultrasound #2 (9wks) on Wednesday. Hoping all goes well!
Rants/Raves/Questions
Anyone have a glass of wine here or there while pregnant? Sometimes I just want one but feel guilty about it!
GTKY: If you had to choose what one food (single item or meal) would you eat for the rest of your life, exclusively. (just for silly fun)
I looooove buffalo wings. And for health purposes, maybe a side of celery and carrots.
And....What is the one recipe you can always nail or what is a recipe that you want to master
i make really great roast beef and mashed potatoes. Yum.
Interested in in these pregnancy squats? Similar to regular squats?

@tiffanyhr Here is a video of the general idea of pregnancy squats. I would add to the information inhale **down**- exhale straighten and come up (many times that is taught the other way.) Also try pushing through the big toe as you straighten the legs to engage the pelvic floor.

@lillebowski23 you rock with the squats! That is so awesome you do that with your peeps! My husband was just teaching his parents (in their 70's) chair squats.

How are you feeling?
*The link to the rice recipe is in the ingredients list. Enjoy! It's hard to screw this up!
A few things I do differently...
-I ALWAYS double the recipe
-I often forget the jalapeño and it turns out fine
-I never use the tapioca flour, i don't think it's necessary
-add whatever other vegetables you like. I always add carrots and mushrooms
-I use a pint of cream instead of cream and yogurt, because I love cream
-I cook this on the stove in a dutch oven and it works really well. I cook it for at least two hours, sometimes more, till the chicken has fallen apart into pieces.
