We're going to Vegas! I have family there. Only Maddox and I will be going and meeting up with my mom and dad.
Any tips on flying with a baby? He'll be almost 9 months old when we go. I'll be doing some research but thought i'd come here first.
How do you bring bottles on the plane when you can't have liquids and powders? Are there special rules here?
What activities did you bring to keep them entertained? We have a 1 hour flight, 1 hour layover, and 3 hour flight. The flight there is late at night so I'm hoping he'll sleep the majority of the time.
Do you think it would be an okay idea to just use the moby wrap while in the airport as opposed to a stroller? My cousin in Vegas has a stroller that I'm hoping to use. One less thing to worry about.
Anything else i'm not thinking of?
Re: Flying with a 9 month old
I haven't travelled w/ DD since she was 4 months, so it's a bit different, but definitely wear DC in a wrap, ergo, bjorn or whatever. They won't make you take him out when you go through security and it is much easier to juggle everything!
Also, feed him during take off and landing... it helps with their ears.
I just flew with DS yesterday. Hope I can help!
I used a light weight stroller. They will give you a gate check tab that you put on it. It is the first thing off the plane and you get it right when you get off the plane. We also took the carseat and did the same thing. That is a lot for you to carry though by yourself. Maybe check the seat if you will need it.
DS won't take bottles during the day so I just had him drink water from his sippy cup. I took TONS of snacks. Puffs, dried apples from Gerbers, Yogurt bits (these are all clean things!) I also fed him his oatmeal but that might be hard by youself. I had DH hold him while I fed him.
I asked the flight attendent for a bottle of water- they charged for water BUT. When we asked for it for a bottle (I made one but he didn't drink it) I didn't want ice water.... so they gave us a bottle of room temp.
It was a 3 hour flight and he napped for about 40 minutes (7am flight) and other than that he smiled at people, played with Dixie cups that I took, and some other toys. He takes a pacifier so I had one of those on a string and attached it to his shirt. That way it never fell on the ground.
Let me know if you have any other questions. It wasn't "fun" but he didn't cry and carry on like he could have!
