Babies: 9 - 12 Months

So frustrated and can't do anything about it!

I was let go from work on the the 15th of December and applied for unemployment that same day.  I did not know that it is better if you hold off on applying for unemployment until you receive your final check which mine was for 7 days of old vacation.  When I applied for unemployment it asked if I was to get anymore checks which I reported as yes along with the amount and the date.  Due to I checked yes about getting a final check on the 31st for 7 days of vacation pay it placed an Active Issue on my claim which is still not cleared up and I am totally frustrated.  The office told me it could take 8-10 weeks to decide if I am eligable to get my unemployment even though my employer signed off on the paperwork.  I have a ton of bills coming and with no unemployment in sightSad

  • I don't think I would count that vacation as a 'check', it's something you earned as a benefit they are paying you in a lump sum.  That doesn't cover you as pay for that week off.  If the last day of pay for you was the 15th, then don't you count from there?  I haven't had to do this in many years, but that' my thought from reading this.

  • That stinks :( I had a check coming when I first filed for unemployment too - but thankfully they didn't start my claim, so I could just re-apply the following week.  I feel your pain though. It is humbling to be counting on money like that.
