So annoyed by Quaker Oats commercial

Not sure if we've already ranted about this or not  - I could have missed it, but....

Have you seen the one where the mom has like 4 kids and feeds them all instant oatmeal for breakfast...they go on and on about how good it is for the kids and keeps them warm and full, etc.  Which is totally true - oatmeal for breakfast is great...

BUT!  Then they show all the kids in the van on their way to school, daycare, etc eating the oatmeal out of styrofoam bowls and with plastic spoons.... ARGH!!!!  How annoying!  How many moms are goiing "oh, what a great idea!" and starting to do that b/c of the commercial... If she does that 5 days a week for 4 kids that's 1,040 disposable bowls and spoons a year for just ONE family.....

so obnoxious!!  anywhooo...I'm done now....

    That irritates me, too!!  I though I was the only one!!

    PS- I love oatmeal!!  I eat organic, though!!  :)

    I saw that commercial and was annoyed too.  I am guilty of my DS eating in the car on the way too daycare, but at least he uses a regular plate and fork!  Not hard to bring those in from the car at the end of the day and wash them!

    I agree - nothing wrong with eating in the car!  I spent most of my childhood eating in the car!!  Big Smile

    Holy crap.  I totally missed that breakfast on the run

    meant that I couldn't use regular dishes.

    I haven't seen it, but oh my! That is so wasteful :( And you're right that the commercial probably gave too many other moms the same idea.

    I hadn't noticed the disposables.  That makes it even worse!

    My first thought was why in the world would you give kids oatmeal to eat in the car???  I could only guess at what a mess that would make.  I do NOT want to find random blobs of oatmeal in between my carseats. Gooey and gross.

    I also saw that! I thought I was the only one frustrated by that one!  I cringe when I see them all open their "individual" favorite packs of oatmeal too.

     

    But, although we are using CDs, I do love the commercial for pampers where the little one lets loose and it looks like a firehose is going off in the room.

    I haven't seen that one, but the one where the dad says he needs to lower his cholesterol so he can live long enough to see his daughters "married off" really gets under my skin.
