Middle name for Kitty

I love the name Kitty and realise that it's one of those marmite names that you'd either love or hate. My granny was called Kitty and right now it's my favourite name.
My problem lies with the second name, I think it needs a strong name. The only two that I think go so far are
Kitty Elizabeth
Kitty Rose
If you guys had any more suggestions I'd be grateful to hear them. Thanks in advance

Re: Middle name for Kitty

  • This is my #1 favorite girl name. I sadly can't use it because my H had a cat named Kitty that lived a very long time and had such a strong personality that he just can't agree to it. Boo.
But anyway I like Kitty Elizabeth!
    A few more I like:
    Kitty Jane
    Kitty Louise
    Kitty Josephine

I'll comeback if I think of more!

  • I agree on giving a longer name just in case she doesn't like kitty later on
  • We have thought of that, I'm not mad on Catherine or Katrina but did think if she became president (could happen right?)it would be nice for her to have the option;)
Might put it on her (if it's a girl) birth cert and just introduce her as Kitty. I've only ever known my mom as Toni and she was christened Antoinette.
In Ireland it's more of an old lady name rather than a juvenile one. Thanks for the input so far Keep them coming! Louise rolls nicely too thanks!
  • I also like Kitty Louise.

    Other suggestions:
    Kitty Ophelia
    Kitty Odette
    Kitty Rosalie
    Kitty Lorraine
    Kitty Jeanette
    Kitty Wilhelmina
    Kitty Cosette
    Kitty Frances / Francesca
    Kitty Bernadette
    Kitty Georgina

  • I really like Kitty Louise and Kitty Charlotte, but agree that a formal name with the nn Kitty is the way to go.

  • @gonetothesea thank you! Ophelia is pretty cool too and definitely one I wouldn't of thought off on my own:)
  • Kitty doesn't sound strong to me at all...
I'd pick a full name with kitty as the nickname.
  • Kitty kind of sounds like a stripper

  • I have a Zoë who (in the fierceness of being two) insists on being called Kitty. You don't need to pick a name that gives Kitty as a natural nickname.
  • Kitty will get all kinds of teased in school
  • What about Kit with a nickname of Kitty? My grandma used to go to a hairdresser whose name was Kitty, but I'm pretty sure it was short for something.
    Other options:
    Katya
    Katerina
    Kate
  • Cat?

In all seriousness, I can't imagine a grown woman with Kitty as the real, formal name. A nickname, sure.

I'd go with Katherine, Kaitlyn, or some other variation and use Kitty as a nickname.

  • This might be one where culturally Kitty has a different connotation depending on where you are. Kitty is an older lady name where I am, too and not at all juvenile or stripper-like (in fact I found the mental picture a little funny). I think giving a longer name and using Kitty as a nn would be better for job prospects etc.
    I love
    Katya/Katia/Katja
Caitlin (I prefer the traditional spelling)
    Katherine
    Katrina/Catriona
    Katalin
    Kathleen (different spellings around)
    Catalena

I love Elizabeth as a middle and Louise

  • I also like Kitty Louise. Other suggestions: Kitty Ophelia Kitty Odette Kitty Rosalie Kitty Lorraine Kitty Jeanette Kitty Wilhelmina Kitty Cosette Kitty Frances / Francesca Kitty Bernadette Kitty Georgina
    I die for Kitty Bernadette!!!

I adore Kitty as a NN for Katarina or some other full name.

Other MN options: Delphine, Beatrix, Renee, Therese, Genevieve, Heloise

  • My 75yo grandma has gone by Kitty her whole life, though her given name is Kathleen Sharon. It's a bit old fashioned but I do agree, giving your daughter a choice to be called kitty as an adult seems appropriate. There are lots of names (pretty much any k or c name) to use kitty as a nickname from. Because that's what it is,a nickname. Doesn't have to make sense how it came from the original name.

  • I agree with some of the PPs on the name Katherine, and NM as Kitty. Maybe a name like Katherine Anne/Kitty Anne? Or, Katherine Elizabeth/Kitty Elizabeth maybe?
