Pls Help

Hey Girls,

I posted this on TCC too.. just need some input.

I have been a lurker for almost 3 years. Pathetic i know! We have been trying and trying. I have been on multiple doses of clomid, suffered 1 miscarriage, went to RE found out husband has abnormally shaped sperm and i often dont ovulate regularlly. I began the shots. menopur and antagon. Had our 1st IUI (that hurt like a you know what!) BFN.. So were taking a break from all that and trying naturally again according to my OPK kits. Now my question is.... Should i have a HSG done? i know i have been pregnant before but would you recommend this since its been so long and were still not pregnant? Im so scared to have that done. Please help!! Thanks a bunch....

You should ask your doctor and check with your insurance. You should have had one before the clomid IMO.

you've been ttc for 3 years?

IMO, you should have an hsg done before you take clomid and do an iui b/c you would want to know if taking clomid/iui is even worth it. you want to check if your tubes are open.

have you had an shg?

RReally? That makes me so mad. My RE never mentioned it but my OBGYN did but said oh you dont need to have that done because you have gotten pregnant before. Just once in 3 years, doesnt seem like good odds.

and just an FYI - you must have just had a bad IUI. Out of my 5, I didn't feel anything at all with 4 of them. However, one of them the catheter thing must have scraped the inside of my ute - and wow the pain was intense.

How many doses of clomid did you already do?

oh my iui was horrible. They had to use a clamp and make me cough to get the catheter in. I was bleeding, it was such a bad experience.

at least 6 mths worth of clomid but not all consectively

i think some docs are of the school that if you have nothing in your history that would suggest scar tissue or something of the like, they don't want to do an hsg b/c they assume your tubes are open. i would like to have it done first, really for my own peace of mind. i avoided a clomid script b/c i hadn't had the testing done yet. i know others here have too.

a clamp? that doesn't normal.

I've gotten pregnant before too, but my RE did an SHG which found a small bit of tissue in my ute which could be interfering with things and needs to come out.

You should definitely have an HSG done. It does nto matter if you have been pregnant before or not.

HSG is step one...make sure the plumbing is all clear before pumping yourself with hormones.

Can't change the past, but definitely get one of those.

By clamp, could she have meant the speculum??
