how comfortable were you in your 26th - 27th week?
I am looking to plan a trip for a longish weekend away, but since I work in Tax the earliest I could go would be Apr.17th. DH and I really want to go to the Grand Canyon because there is that hotel right on the edge that I've always wanted to stay at since I was a little girl. My only concern is if I will be majorly uncomfortable handling an 8 hour drive (twice in one week).
Would you have been fine? Or do you suggest I try to find something closer to home. I'm avoiding this choice because we've pretty much done it all around here (anywhere in SoCal)
Re: question for you 3rd tri girls
I felt great until about now - I seem to have hit a wall and have no energy and a lot of joint aches and pains.
I think you'll be fine, just take lots of pee breaks and get out of the car to stretch your legs often.
I feel great. I do require naps more easily, but I feel wonderful and my mood is great. I could easily gom on a trip right now.

The most uncomfortable part of my pregnancy was actually from weeks 24-29! I gained 14 lbs all at once, and my body took a while to get used to the extra weight. I felt much better at the end of my pregnancy than I did during those weeks!
But, I'm a rather unusual case.
I flew to AZ at 27 weeks and was uncomfortable during the flight and the entire time that I was there.
Sitting for long periods of time makes my back hurt like crazy...and sleeping those were my only issues.
Have fun at the grand canyon, I've lived here 12 years and still haven't gone to see it! Someday I will!

I drove home to VT for Christmas (12+ hours going there due to traffic, 8 hours on the way home) at 34-35 weeks, and I was completely fine. My doctor said to be sure to stop every 2-3 hours to stretch and pee, which we did - and I really felt great. It wasn't any worse than any other car ride, IMO.
Have a good vacation!

We went to mexico in my second trimester and I hated it...I wanted to die. But I think that's b/c it was mexico....if you know what I mean. ?I'm one of those people that hates sitting in small uncomfortable places even when I'm not pregnant, so I think it really just depends if you don't mind riding in a car for that long. ?I would hate that even not pregnant. ?For me third and second trimester in general have been easy (except for the heartburn but then I discovered Zantac). ?I would go for it if I were you.??
I'm that far along, and I think I could do it. My hips get sore after a while, but those are just my hips
I think as long as you drink water, and stop every once and a while, you'll be fine.
Honestly, I WOULD NOT do it. I know that everyone here is saying that they think they would be fine, etc. (and maybe they would), but take it from someone who has been through it. About a month ago I had two eight hour drives in one week, which morphed into 11 hour drives due to traffic issues.
I wouldn't put yourself through it unless you have to, because it won't be restful or fun. You'll be tired and cramped, lots of pee stops will make the drive much longer, etc. I don't think it's a very good way to start off a vacation.
