Bouncers & Rockers & Swings... Oh My!

There are so many out there to choose from - rockers, bouncers, swings, podsters,... I'm sure I'm missing some but to me they all seem to fall into the same category. So do you just pick one on your registry and hope your baby likes it? Do you go with two? We dont have a ton of room and from what I've seen in stores some of these take up more room than others.

Curious how I make up my mind on which to put on my registry? Thanks in advance!

  • Great question. I cant wait to see the responses. I only pit a bouncer one that vibrates because i had heard to try a friends swing to see if they like it.

  • I love the bouncers. They are helpful when baby first starts eating food too. I got a swing from a friend.

  • I have a little bouncer that we used quite a bit when my son was little.  We also have a graco swing that we hardly used.  I think it is set up funny because there is a little tray that goes across it but it is so close to the bottom part of the
  • To me a swing is a must. With my kids it was a lifesaver! I am also getting a bouncer and RnP. They are all useful IMO.

I'm getting the Fischer price snugabunny swing and bouncer.

  • For DS, we only had a bouncer and he loved that thing. The crucial thing is that it actually bounced and wasn't just a vibrating seat, which would have been a complete waste for him. We'd bounce that thing w our foot and he'd calm down instantly.

  • I've heard they're all a must and I've also heard that it depends on the baby. We don't have the extra money to drop on something like a swing to not use it. Not to mention we really don't had space for one. We registered for a nocer bouncer and are bein

  • We used the bouncer the lease. The swing was a must, as we're the jumpers. DS slept in the swing for 4 months. The jumpers were awesome excessive up through almost 12 months before he was walking.

    I can't speak from experience

  • I've gotten different replies from every mom I know. Some say their kids couldn't live without a swing, others say their kids hated it and loved the bouncer. We registered for both but space isn't a huge issue for us.

  • I registered for a swing. I didn't want all the different things and have heard a swing is a "must". It will also work for just having a place to put the baby (the swinging motion doesn't have to be "on").

If it is a big problem, I figure w

  • I've registered for all 3 and will return whatever baby doesn't seem to enjoy.
  • This is a tough question because the answer is going to vary. You can take all the advice in the world, buy something, and your kid may hate it.

For my DS, we bought the 4Moms Mamaroo swing, which was pricey but we'd heard great things about it.

  • We registered for the Mamaroo. It's a seat, but has 8 different movement settings. We live in an apartment, so space and multi-functionality is important for us.

  • I am going to have a swing and a bouncer but IMO a swing is a must.

  • We registered for the Fisher Price Deluxe My Little Snuggle Monkey bouncer based on a friend's recommendation. Bounces, vibrates, plays music AND is on sale at Target right now.

  • FTM here too so can't speak from personal experience but like others had heard it REALLY depends on the baby.

I've been searching CL and local mommy boards for good deals as this is definitely something you can buy used.  I got a 1 month old

  • We have a bouncy seat and travel swing (both are just basic ones by Bright Starts). I just checked reviews online mostly. You don't need a lot of bells and whistles, IMO. We used the bouncy daily because it gave me somewhere to park DS when he started to
