Seriously, these folks at Anderson have their you know what together. You can go onto their website and enter your medical number and it will bring up your appt locations and times (as well as walking directions to your appts). They also have FREE CHILDCARE for kids 2 months-12 years. That is perfect for the times that I will need to be with Jon (if he is meeting w/ a dr, getting info, etc) and we having Jack w/ us would be too much of a distraction.

As of now, Jon's first appt. will be on Friday. We don't know how early on Friday so we will either leave Thursday night or early Friday morning.

That is amazing! Really, everything I hear about them is so impressive. My dad said that when he was first there, he went somewhere for bloodwork and when he walked into the room, there were like 70 people waiting! He thought it would take forever, but he said that they were so organized that he waited about 5 minutes to be called. And he said everyone is very friendly and helpful, always helping with directions, and one night when his chemo ended too late and the hotel shuttle wasn't running anymore, security drove them back to the hotel.

My mom doesn't live really close to the med center (about 45 minutes), but I've told her your story and anything to do to help, she is more than willing and able! She has lots of expirence with MDA and her house is available if you need it! She can get recommendations on doctors too, if you need any. Just let me know if she can help you in any way!

Just read you other post, and I'm so glad for you guys. And, I can't believe I didn't even think to tell you until you mentioned it, but I know 2 people now who sought 2nd opinions at MD Anderson, and learned WAAAY better news than their Austin docs were telling them, ref: their diagnoses and/or treatment options.

MD Anderson is the shizzzz-nit. Best of luck to you all, still praying for you every night.

I don't post much, but I wanted to let you know that you guys are going to the best place! My dad went to MDA for treatment, and we felt so lucky. We did not meet one person there (doctor, staff, patient, etc) that wasn't supportive and helpful. They are truly amazing!?

Good god, your post made me start bawling. It absolutely is the little things and the fact that MD Anderson is doing so many things (big and small) to make you happy and comfortable and excited right now .... just a-ma-zing!!! That is amazing about the childcare. I had no idea that they offered anything like that.
