Up until today I've been EBF with a bottle here and there sparingly, and she's been eating every two hours pretty much on the nose. Today I sent DD to Day Care this morning (for the first time! boo hoo!) with 4 bottles: Two 4oz bottles of milk and Two 4.5oz bottles of milk
I just called Day Care to check in on her and they were in the middle of feeding her the 3rd bottle of the day (9am, 11am and 1:30pm) and they said that she's gobbled up each bottle and suggested that I maybe increase the quantity to 5oz in a couple of the bottles, and perhaps even bring in a 5th bottle (because if her last bottle is given at 3/3:30pm and I can't pick her up until 5:45pm then she may indeed start getting angry and hungry by then). I was hoping to avoid a 5th bottle at day care, but of course I'll do what she needs. Maybe just upping the quantities in each of the 4 bottles will help her go a little longer in between each feeding and she won't need that 5th bottle?
Thoughts? How much is your 3month old eating per session and how often?
Re: How many oz does your 3mos. old eat?
#2 & #3 Due 8/25/12
we give avery 2 - 4 oz bottles and I feed her during lunch.
Bottles are easier to suck from so the babies can drink faster. Avery hasn't seemed hungry after the bottles either.
Here is our schedule when she is at daycare:
7:30 - nurse at home
9:30 - 4 oz bottle
Noon - nurse at daycare
2:30pm - 5 oz bottle
5pm - nurse at daycare or home
DS is 11.5 weeks and not in daycare yet. But he eats about 5 oz. every 3 hours on average.
