to PT or not to PT? advise please

DS will be 2 in two weeks... he's able to go on the potty when he's told to go pee (as long as he has to go) he can stop it mid stream if I yell at him (if he's peein on the floor I say no nono go to the potty in a very anxious tone)... he goes on the potty every night before bed and every morning when he wakes up...but he is still going VERY often in his diaper/underpants...he'll go an hour and a half dry then go every 15 minutes for two hours...
He  likes going on the potty but doesn't seem phased when he's wet (either in diapers or underpants)

DD wasn't easy to train but she wasn't hard either...she was more predictable...I don't want to miss my window of opportunity (he's interested and can go when told to) wdyt? do I keep it up now, or wait to do the hard core 'till he's older?

Re: to PT or not to PT? advise please

  • Is he in daycare?

For us once DD Best friend was potty trained DD jsut followed suit.  DD seemed interested at 2 also.  SHe would go when we put her there and tell her but really we were the ones being trianed.  Every 30 minutes taking her potty.  So we just sort of let it go until we said okay from now on it is panties.  It was after the holidays.  We let her pick out her underware.  We had two days with accidents and that was it.  She now tells us she has to go we don't have to ask (we still make her try before leaving the house and we worked into her morning and night ritual)  She can pull her pants down herself and has a stoll to get herself up on the toilet.

I really thought she was ready at 2 because she would tell me when she was wet and go potty when i tell her to but looking at the situation today I see she wasn't ready at 2.  This just clicked right after the holidays

  • I'm in the same boat and have decided to continue. I think the fact that he goes in the morning and before bed says a lot. I think if he wans't ready he wouldn't even be doing that. And honestly holding it for 1.5 hours is just shy of the 2 they recommend when discussing readiness for pt. I say go for it. At least I'm continuing with my son!
