Ginger root?

My husband swears by ginger root as he has stomach issues and is nauseated a lot. It is just a walmart brand capsule. He keeps trying to get me to take it because I have had m/s something fierce, but I am afraid to and I don't have my first appointment for another 2 weeks. Does anyone have any knowledge of them being safe to take?

Re: Ginger root?

  • ginger is fine..if you dont want to take the pills if you are afraid they have other ingredients, you can buy a hunk of ginger, cut off a piece and leave it under your tongue for a little, or they sell crystalized ginger you can eat, it's dried, candied..actually pretty good.

  • They are safe, yes. My midwife (and MANY friends) recommended that I take (in addition to my PNV) a B6 and a Ginger Capsule to avoid nausea. Of course, you may wish to call your Doctor.

  • You can also put a sliver of fresh ginger into some hot water for ginger tea.

  • Thanks for your input, I am going to try one and see how it goes. Google is indecisive, one site says yes and the next says don't. Gotta love the internet.

  • I bought some ginger syrup to make tea with, and it said right on the bottle "cure for morning sickness". It is like a GODSEND!!

  • I agree with PP. If you get fresh ginger and just cut off a piece and boil in hot water. Ahhhh, that was such a relief!
