Mattress for Toddler Rooms

I plan to switch my son to a big boy room soon so that the nursery will be available before Baby #2 is born. He will be sleeping on a full size mattress on the floor, for now. Is there a special type of mattress (e.g., firm, extra firm, no soft-top, etc) that is better for toddlers or will any kind really do?

Re: Mattress for Toddler Rooms

  • I'm not sure what you're "supposed" to do, but we're going to use a firm mattress b/c that's what DD has now in her crib so I figure she's used to it. I don't think there's much of a risk for suffocation with soft-top mattresses by the time they're able to sleep in a "big" bed, but we're just going with a plain, firm mattress.
