When to start daily baths

We still only bathe the girls 2-3 times/week. When should we start daily baths? It is just soooo time consuming and hard.

Re: When to start daily baths

  • I hated having to give daily baths because it was time consuming! But we do daily baths now because it helps with his night time routine. Can maybe your DH do one and you do the other?

  • I'm there with you.  I dislike giving baths.  I'm so afraid to drop his slippery little booty.  I think we're going to start soon though and get him more in a routine.  I can't imagine doing it with two!
  • Good question... I wonder this as well. We have been doing every other day but I was thinking that as soon as she starts crawling I'll switch to every day since she'll be more dirty from crawling around the floors.
  • We started at 3mos due to Ryan's eczema. The pedi wanted us to bathe him with Cetaphil and moisturize every night.  Otherwise I would still only be doing it every other night.  It's a PITA.
  • We started daily baths this week but that was mostly because she has had a huge explosion every night around 8:00. She loves her baths though so I thought this might help us get into a night time routine.
  • we still only bathe 2-3 times week cause even with 1 baby its a job and she doesn't always love her baths.

And her skin is dry and being winter time its so cold here.  I do use a washcloth every morning and wipe her down and wash her face without soap.

  • Why do you need to do daily baths with babies? I didn't/don't do it with DS and I'm sure I won't with DD. I think it would dry out their skin too much. I guess it would make sense for fussy sleepers vwho need a routine tho.
  • We've done baths daily since 2 months.  He usually loves them and it really helps his nighttime routine.  Plus his little rolls get pretty dirty.
  • I started giving her a daily bath around 3 months.  I hated giving baths also but I came up with a easier way and now I do it everyday.  Its part of our routine and it helps her sleep longer.  I don't use the baby bath anymore.  I bought a mat to put in the bottom of our tub so now I don't have to drag the baby tub around.  The mat has sucktion (sp) cups on the bottem and has pillows so her head is elevated.  I got it at baby depot.  As far as dry skin goes...I don't use soap every time and we put lotion on her body every night.

  • We have been doing a nightly bath as part of the bedtime routine since 2mo. I only use soap every other night so it doesn't dry out her skin too much.
  • We started this week.  We are trying to start DS on a routine.  He likes it too...with twins, it would be much harder.  But I'd still try and do it, maybe you could up it to every other night?  That way it won't seem like a huge jump from 2-3 times/week.
