bath question

my 12 week old hates bath, screams bloody murder everytime we give her one. i have tried to make bath time as comforting as possible and to soothe her while she is in the bath to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions or do you think she will eventually outgrow this and I should just wait it out and try to do baths as quickly as possible?

Re: bath question

  • you've been pregnant for a year?!  dayum

  • Stop holding her head under water!! Just kidding... She'll probably outgrow it. DS is 6 weeks and I lay him on a warm wet towel and a warm wet cloth over him while I wash him and he seems to not mind it.?
  • Have you tried making the bath a bit warmer. Mady screamed until I made it warmer now she's good until I wash her head!

  • We put a warm wet washcloth over him as we bathe him - keeps him from getting cold in the tub. We talk and sing to him and that seems to distract him a bit.

My little guy hated baths as a newborn, but now seems to love them!

  • Our DD loves bath time... I put her little plastic tub in our big tub and use a removable shower head sprayer thingy (on gentle setting) to wash her while keeping her covered with a warm wet towel. ?I continue to keep the towel wet with the gentle spray. ?Her water stays warm, her towel stays warm and so does she.
  • I typed this exact post a while ago - she'd be fine when I sat her up and washed her hair (not in the tub) but as soon as her butt touched water, she would scream bloody murder. Then DH and I came up with the idea that distracting her might work - so rubber ducky comes out and play at bath time now. Smile We make sure she makes eye contact with ducky and DH makes ducky squeak and "talk" to her. She's been fine ever since - even smiles in the tub now. Might be worth a try?
