1st Trimester

I am just sick over this (warning - sad)

So a friend of mine has a wonderful 4 year old boy, about a year ago, she lost her second child at 30 weeks, it was a girl. They decided not to do any testing to see what had caused the late loss and chalked it up to a horrible fluke. So, they emotionally tried to recover and tried to get pregnant again, and were having problems although they never had issues with the first 2 pregnancies.

So, they did fertility treatments, and after a few rounds of IVF she was pregnant again, all was going well. Last week she had a bit if a freak out and was not feeling the baby move, went right in and had an u/s - everything was fine, baby was just kicking her in a place that she was not feeling. Was reassured that the baby (a boy this time) was fine.

So today she goes in for her regular run of the mill 24 week appointment today, and there is no heartbeat. I am just so sick that this has happened to them again - a few days ago she was lamenting on how they may have made the wrong decision on not doing the testing the 1st time they lost the baby, but said lightening wont strike twice right?"

Also, their 4 year old is at an age where he is FULLY aware of what is going on. After they lost the 1st baby, he asked him Mom "are you sad because you dont have a baby anymore" and was so excited to be having a brother.

I guess there is no point to this post other than just to share it b/c I really do feel like I could vomit, I am just so heartbroken for them. So, so sad.

  • That is such a heartbreaking story. I think, though, that they should def. do testing this time. Maybe there's something that can be done for the next pg. God bless them.

That is so sad :(  Do the doctors have any speculation at all?
  • That is heartbreaking, I cant even imagian what it would feel like to go through that once but they had to do it twice. I hope they plan to do testing and I pray that they get through this alright.
