  • Pregnancy can allow latent herpes infection to become active.  It will probably come-and-go throughout your pregnancy.

  • Nooooo.  I didn't know this happened!  I HATE cold sores.  I'm guessing that valtrex isn't safe during pregnancy...lol.  Dangit.

  • Same here. I got one on my upper lip two weeks ago and I got another one last week on my bottom lip.  I still have the one on my lower lip this week.  I hope it goes away FOR GOOD!
  • no it isnt. i love valtrex when i get cold sores and my ob says no way. Try abreva cream..
  • I know this sucks!!!! I got one just yesterday. I usually use Zovarax it works really good but now I don't know if I can so I am just not going to risk it and deal with the small sacrifices

  • ask your ob about valtrex.  mine said it was fine.  if you look it up it actually has the same safety rating as tylenol.

  • I would also ask about lysine supplements.  I've always used them when I got cold sores, and I imagine it shouldn't be a problem since it isn't a medication.
  • I get them in my nose and if they travel to my brain I could die. My obgyn approved Valtrex... it's considered a type B
  • Wow, I had no idea my cold sore was related to my pregnancy! I just figured it was the cold weather...

I use a gel called Vilactin. It burns, but dries it up fairly quickly

  • i've got 3 since finding out i was pg.  and when i was pg. w/ DS i also got 3 in the first tri.  however after that i didn't get any until after i gave birth, so be prepared for that too!  blah!!!!

however this time my doc. ok'd valtrex so i just started getting one over the weekend took my valtrex and it never truly developed thankgod!
