So this is my dilemma.
I have a Simmons Valencia crib in a BlackCherry finish (just looks black), but the matching chest of drawers is three drawers and a door - we don't want the door, as I find it somewhat useless and would rather find something that co-ordinates (instead of matching), that has 6 drawers, long and low.Finding black nowadays is quite difficult, as espresso seems the way to go.
The
inspiration for the nursery is classical and modern - no theme. The
bedding is custom made in stripes, dots, solids and damask. Paint is
"Cloud" blue from RH Baby and Child up top, with a white chair rail and
white paint below the rail.Crystal chandelier and antique cherub lamps
(with a bit of carera marble and gold leaf)
Now I'm wondering if this will look okay. Picture this:
-Black crib
-Black leather recliner
-White "low and long" dresser to use as a change table as well. Seems to have the coordinating elements to the crib (bun feet)
My
hope (and thought) is that the dresser will disappear a bit into the
wall, due to the fact that the lower half of the wall will be white as
well. It isn't the biggest room (10'x10') so I'm hoping it will create
the illusion of a bigger space.
Re: black crib and white dresser
Ya, I bought glass knobs to lend to the 'antique' feel (the crib has that feel a bit too). Thanks!
Any other thoughts?!
This idea might work ... I can't quite picture it. Did you consider getting a non-baby black dresser? (We have black furniture too). Also, Romina has a 6 drawer dresser in black and is pretty basic.
Where did you get the chandelier?
I like the idea of everything not being matchy-matchy.
Yes we have! I've been to every furniture store (well, maybe not EVERY store), and everyone has had pretty much the same reaction ..."Are you sure you don't want to just switch to chocolate brown? You'll have more selection".
I will check out the one you suggested - thanks!
My cousin works at a store called Blueprint Home in Ottawa, Canada. She gave it to me. It is from a company called Canfloyd, and the design is "Vintages". I've tried checking online, and it's like the company doesn't exist!! Can find any pictures anywhere. She told me they only sell to retailers, so they don't have a site... ?
thats what we did! here was our inspiration:
We are doing an espresso crib and espresso dresser/changing table, but having a white cubby style shelving unit with espresso baskets and the room has white baseboards, crown molding, doors, windows and ceiling.
I think it'll look fine if everything isn't entirely matchy-matchy
