yeast infection?

This girl I work with thinks that she has a bladder infection but I think it is a yeast infection.  Tell me what you think.  The only symptoms that she has are an odor "down there" and more discharge than usual (enough to wear a pantyliner).  She has no pain when she urinates and she doesn't feel sudden urges to go.  If you agree and think it is a yeast infection, what OTC stuff should I suggest that she get?  Thanks!  (BTW-I'm not this into lives of other people but she is young and her mother lives somewhere else so we all try to help her)

Re: yeast infection?

  • never had a yeast infection and i am now knocking on wood. have had uti (bladder inf) and i don't recall any odor. and no urge to pee constantly?? i did have that with a uti but maybe that doesn't accompany all utis. i didn't think you could have a uti without the urge to pee.

  • MH thinks it sounds more like a bacterial vaginosis rather than a yeast infection based on the symptoms and the description of the discharge you gave.  It's unlikely that it's a bladder infection if she's having a discharge that requires a panty liner.  She needs to see a Dr. in case it is bacterial.  Nothing OTC will help if that's what it is.
