So we did our first bath time in her rainforest bath tub yesterday. She instantly peed and then pooped a short time later. What do you do about this??
How do you wash your baby? Do you pour water over them at one and a half weeks or just sponge bathe? I thought this would come naturally but it didn't.
Re: Crazy bath time question
DD #1 passed away in January 2011 at 14 days old due to congenital heart disease
DD#2 lost in January 2012 at 23 weeks due to anhydramnios caused by a placental abruption
I had him in the tub in the sink, with the sling so he wasn't submerged. Rinsed him with warm water, then wiped him down with a sudsy wash cloth (head first, then body & arms/legs, then butt). Then I rinse him off.
He peed for his first one, at the beginning, but since I was cleaning him anyway, I wasn't too worried about it
No help on the pooping though. Maybe wait to do a bath until right after a dirty diaper, and hope the pipes are clear?
Just sponge baths until the cord stump falls off--it's supposed to stay dry, and pouring water = not dry. We kept a diaper and towel on him for those early "baths" and unwrapped whatever piece we were washing at the time. We bathed him on the kitchen counter.

It was after a dirty diaper. She loves pooping!
