I have decided to do most of my shopping there in an effort to buy more prepared items (that are healthy-ish) to make food prep as fast as possible on weeknights.
What are your favs for kids?
Some of mine:
Berries - they tend to be very fresh
Cubed sweet potatoes
Armenian pizzas (the ones that look like thin rounds of flatbread with tomato sauce and spinach)
Hummus (my kids don't like it yet, but I keep trying)
All kinds of cheese, eggs, diary
Greek Yogurt - cheaper than Yo-Baby and still full fat. Thicker which means a little less mess. The Honey flavor it to die for! And the fig is great.
Nitrite free hot dogs and turkey
Frozen chicken breasts and the breaded chicken drumettes
Frozen pastas
Turkey Meatballs - a staple as they can be cut easily without breaking apart. I send them to school a lot.
Just Chicken - pre-cooked chunks for the fridge. Great for tacos, mixing with yakisoba noodles, etc.
Baking Mix for pancakes, veggie casseroles, etc.
Re: Trader Joe's - what do you buy for your child there?
I 2nd the turkey meatballs, they're great for sending to school for lunch.
I buy the freeze dried snap peas, bananas & mangos for DS.
Their fruit leathers are a great deal, although I've started buying Archer Farm's brand at Target b/c it's an even better deal.
They make this cereal that my kids love, they're like cookies. Of course, i can't remember the name now. They're made with oatbran.
DD loves their gnocci.
I buy all of my kosher meat there too, it's cheaper than other stores.
I am so gealous of you guys. I love Trader Joes and there are none in Texas.
I love Trader Joes but havent been in so long. Must make a trip this coming weekend!
DITTO THIS! (spinach, where in Texas?)
When we lived in California, we had a TJ's right down the road. It was right when DD was starting solids and they had so much good stuff for her. I remember getting: banana waffles (frozen), organic unsalted rice cakes, all of our organic frozen fruits/veggies (they were half the price of Safeway), whatever organic fresh fruits/veggies they had (they rarely had everything we needed, but what they did have was super-cheap), Joe's O's for breakfast/snacks.
I go up to Seattle on business trips on occasion and I pick up some freeze-dried strawberries and organic cereal bars (careful for babies under 1 year, they do have honey in them).
Oh, and not for your DC's, but their ice cream sandwiches are to die for
That probably doesn't help much with your dinner needs, but now I'm hungry
