My mom paid a crapload of money for me to take ballet lessons when I was younger, and I quit the second day. Luckily for me, she didn't make me keep going when I didn't want to. Although if she did, maybe I wouldnt have spent so many years as a band geek!
Dance lessons are so great! Both of my nieces were in tap. The older one loved it. The little one, not so much. Her dance recitals are so much fun to go to!
I want DD to take lessons in everything! I figure that way she can find out what she likes and maybe end up having several skills. Maybe I'll have a singing, dancing, piano playing, karate kid who can also do gymnastics. ^_^
I took tap dance. Went to one lesson. But then again, I was raised by my dad and although he tried, I wasn't very "girly" (see my "I was little Miss Sunshine" below--however I wasn't has confident as that little girl was)
I would rather Lucy be a little more confident of being a woman, so I will be signing her up for dance lessons, and sports too.
I grew up feeling inadequate because living with my brother and dad, and no women around, no one really knew what to do!
My Book BlogA Lucy, a lost tube, two lost babies, and another on the way!
I always wished my parents had put me in dance lessons when I was younger! Instead, I was a huge tomboy (with 2 brothers) and always in sports.. which is fine too and I loved it... I just wanted to dance though! I ended up taking ballet through college
I was just telling DH the other night that DD will be taking ballet lessons, tap, hip hop.... He laughed at me, but I'm serious! Assuming, of course, that DD enjoys it and wants to

I swam, ran track, threw shot put, was in the art club, took ballet, tap, karate, photography, gymnastics, and played 5 different instruments all before I graduated high school. And honestly, the only one I'm good at now is photography! Although I wish I was still in good enough shape to run/swim/dance like I used to!
I kicked a girl in dance class with my tap shoes on and that was the end of my dancing career-lol. I do want Emerson to take dance but, my H and I both really would like to see her riding horses. We have gone to the Derby forever and think it would be a great thing for her to do.
We'll expose her to lots of things and let her choose what she likes to do.

My niece takes ballet, tap, jazz, hiphop, gymnastics and baton. She's 5. And dance class today seems to have become a training ground for strippers. I'm expecting "pole" and "lap" to be on the program at her next recital.

oh and he's pushing for piano, guitar, drums, whatever instrument he can get in her hands so he can finally have the family band he wants. lol. i think that's why he has never missed taking her to a single Music Together class.
