Have/having twins? When did you get mat. pants?

I am already having the hardest time getting into my existing pants jeans and work pants). ?I have a couple bella bands - which help, but I'm still pretty uncomfortable.

I just don't think I'd really fit into maternity pants though - although I really have no idea how they fit since I've never done this before!! ?

What did you do??

Re: Have/having twins? When did you get mat. pants?

  • I officially went into mat pants at around 13 weeks. I probably should have been in them earlier but I was stubborn. I hear that the Bella band helps with maternity pants as well to keep them up if they are too big.

Do what is comfortable for you. I was uncomfortable for a few weeks for no good reason

  • I was in elastic waisted pants from day one.  I was bloated and things from the IVF meds, etc and they were so comfy.  My sister laughed at me when I bought a pair of maternity pants the day before my beta but they were definately needed!
  • This is my second pregnancy and therefore, started to show a lot faster. I did the bella bands too for a while but then quickly gave into mat pants probably around 6-7 weeks. They were so much more comfortable!!!! Nobody has to know they are mat pants. Just go to a mat store and try some on. You may be surprised how comfortable you are and that you can look attractive in them. Good luck! Embrace the belly! I swear my grows daily!!
  • I got my first pair around week 13.  Before that I had some bigger pants that I wore.  How about going to Goodwill or something like that and getting the next size bigger that way you don't spend too much on them and only be able to wear them till you do fit into maternity pants.
  • I was in Maternity pants before my BFP.  The IVF drugs had made me really bloated!  The kind I found that I loved in the beginning (and could still be wearing if they weren't capri length, lol) had a wide elastic band that hit mid or low belly.

  • Yeah - the IVF bloat is definitely a huge part of it! ?

I may hit up the resale shops around here and get some bigger pants. ?

  • I think week 10 or 12 I got a pair of maternity jeans. I too had a tough time w/ IVF bloat but it went down after a bit and I was using a pony tail holder to keep my pants closed. I then decided maternity jeans were the way to go:)
  • Like many pps were saying, if you did IVF, don't even try to get back into your normal pants ... just go straight to maternity ones :) I had pretty bad OHSS, and my belly was huge from the very beginning. After IVF (before and right after my BFP), I had about 2 of my normal pants I could still fit into, but by week 9-10, those were a thing of the past, too. Now, at 14 weeks, I finally feel my pregnancy has caught up to how big my belly is.
  • No IVF here, so I guess that helped (well, that and being nauseous 24/7) but I didn't need to wear maternity pants until 19w or so. I did a bella band for a bit too. If you need/want them now, go for it. You have to be comfortable and everyone and every body is different. The pants are great these days so half the time they look no different than regular pants anyway and you'll feel much better.
  • I was wearing maternity pants at 10 weeks.  Before that I did a combo of bella bands and the rubber band trick.  I think with IVF, you get so dang bloated that you end up growing out of your regular pants very quickly.

  • I was in maternity pants by week 10.  I probably should have been in them sooner, but I refused!
  • I too started last week (at 10 weeks).  I had been using the bella band and still do but compared to maternity pants, the bella band doesn't compare.  Maternity pants are so much more confortable!
  • I had to wear maternity pants by 11 weeks.  I started showing SUPER quickly!  Also, I was really, really bloated from the IVF.
  • I started wearing maternity around 17 weeks, however I wore my belly band almost daily starting around 13 weeks.?

  • I bought some mat. pants right away.  My bloat was out of control and there was no comfortable way to fit into my regular pants.  Most mat. pants fit just like normal pants but they have an elastic waistband instead of buttons/zippers.  I have found some comfortable ones at target and motherhood.
  • I haven't graduated to maternity pants yet because I'm still able to wear my regular ones with a belly band.  Good luck to you though -- I say, if you need them -- don't hesitate to run out and get them.
