Hey there...Just wondering if you've found/decided on what to do for Megan's birthday cake. I don't know what to do. It's not that easy finding a cute Hawaiian-themed cake for a 1-year old. And of course I don't want to spend a fortune either! Let me know if you've got any great ideas! ![]()
I found this one but don't completely love it. Plus, I bet it would be $$ to make. https://www.pinkcakebox.com/images/cake349.jpg
I also found this one, which isn't Hawaiian but I like the colors. https://www.pinkcakebox.com/images/cake357.jpg
The only other thing I can come up with is doing a plain, solid color cake and adding fake Hibiscus flowers like these to decorate it.

I'm sooo behind... I need to make it to the party store this weekend and get going on bday party stuff! My cake thoughts were I was going to make a 2 layer round cake and decorate it with flowers around the edges (love the idea of the fake one though that will save me loads of time and look waaayyy better!). And then some writing on it, Happy 1st Birthday Megan. I like the hibiscus flower with a 1 on it kinda like this one:

But not sure I could make a flower like that...
I'm thinking I'm going to do cupcakes as well, but really simple ones. Because I kinda want coconut frosting for the cake but I'm not sure Megan would like that and I kinda want her first cake to just be plain vanilla with buttercream.
I love all two cakes you posted, they're both beautiful! Way beyond my none-existant cake making skills
. I used to love the doll cakes my Mom make for me with I was a little girl; the barbie doll with the cake as the skirt. I was thinking doing that with a hula skirt would be cute too!
Yeah, I am probably a little ahead of the game with planning this party but because it's Hawaiian-themed, I know I can't wait to the last minute to figure out the details. It's not as easy as just running out and picking up some Sesame Street party stuff!
My problem with the cake thing is I always bake my own cakes from scratch...for baby showers, birthdays, etc. And my mom always baked my cakes as a kid too. So I really WANT to bake Claire's cake but I want her first cake to be "cute" and I'm not sure I'm talented enough so I'm contemplating having it made just for this birthday. I'll have to see how much the lady who made my wedding cake charges and then I'll decide if the cost is worth it!
You will have to send me some pics from Megan's party and I'll do the same!
Did you ever find someone to custom-make a dress for her?
