DD has some patches on her legs and i'm wondering if I should try some OTC stuff (the stuff in the baby aisle) or wait until the end of the month and ask the doc at her 6mo. appt...
i used OTC hydocortizone and it was a godsend. i had tried all the expensive baby creams, and nothing was working. Just be sure to use a small amount, and do it for like 3 days on and 3 days off. too much can thin the skin premanently.
We use Eucerin lotion. Our pedi recommmended that or Aquafor baby but he said anything thick should be fine. DS eczema isn't that bad. We also use Cetaphil cleanser or Aveeno oatmeal bath, it helps clear it up. The baby cleansers make him break out.
We were using the OTC stuff (Gentle Naturals brand) and it worked pretty well. DD has one stubborn spot on her arm that always comes back if I'm not super consistent about putting cream on it though, so the pedi prescribed something at her last visit. Honestly, it's not a huge spot and it doesn't seem to bother her, so I don't see what the huge deal is. The OTC stuff worked fine.
i tried aquaphor and cetephil - neither of them has helped- I actually am using a cream from clinque. comfort on call works great - babys skin is so soft
OTC hydrocortizone (Target brand.. it was like, $1). Pedi recommended it for when DD's eczema flares up and creams aren't enough. It works like a charm

I use cerave and aquaphore. The cerave was recommended by her dermatologist and I saw a difference within the 1st week! It really was great for her when her skin was red and really itchy. I would use it 2x a day (morning and after her night bath- more like a quick soak). I now use aquaphore on her every day to kepe her soft and the dry patches to a minimum.
we used arbonne products on recommendation from our pedi. (he is kind of fascinated with excema - weirdly). but it has been great. her bath soap, body lotion and a body oil have worked to keep her rough patches away.
I tried aquaphor and eucerin, but neither worked. We ended up getting an RX to clear it up (only took 3 or 4 days) and since then we've used California Baby Super Sensitive shampoo/bodywash and lotion. The eczema never came back.
