If you use vinegar in your rinse

Do you do more than one rinse?  My current routine is one cold pre-rinse, one hot wash, and then 2 cold rinses.  I put vinegar in the first cold rinse (after the wash).  But I'm wondering if I even need the 2nd rinse.  If I don't do the 2nd rinse, will my diapers smell like vinegar?  If I add some kind of EO to the vinegar, will that make my diapers smell yummy, or is that even necessary?  I use CC in the wash, if that makes any difference.  And I use vinegar b/c I use DD and DS gets a rash.

Re: If you use vinegar in your rinse

  • I do a second rinse but to get all the detergent residue out of my diapers. I've fought ammonia too many times to get rid of the second rinse. Some people have no problems using only one rinse and your diapers won't smell like vinegar. I wash my clothes with vinegar in the rinse and only one rinse and our clothes just smell clean.

  • the vinegar smell should go away... once the diapers are dry you shouldn't be able to smell it anymore... we also use DD and vinegar is a must have in our routine... we also do the extra rinse at the end (cold rinse, HOT wash w/ cold rinse & vinegar, extra cold rinse) but like PP we use it to get the remainder of the detergent out, if not we get ammonia and super rashy bums.
