How do you all afford this?!

I’m building our registry and I honestly feel sick looking at some of these prices.
-$1,000 stroller
-$300 car seat
-$400 bassinet
-$200 baby monitor

And that’s before diapers, clothes, random stuff they outgrow in 3 months 😭

I keep thinking, do people just pay full price for all of this? Do you wait for sales? Buy used? Is there some secret timing I don’t know about?

I don’t want to cheap out on safety, but wow… this adds up so fast.
Would love to hear how you all handled it.

    The only good thing that's come out of buying all these insanely expensive things is that I've figured out how to use price drop alerts. Everything I bought seemed to go down in price after I bought it so I started setting target prices and waiting. Works really well for stuff like this when you have some time to wait. I've been using pricedropnotifications .com but I think there are a few good ways to do it now (Camelcamelcamel, Honey, etc). If anyone has good recommendations for other things like that for finding deals I'd love to hear them!! Thanks in advance!

    I've found everything used, there really isn't a reason to buy new (except for the car seat) with Offer up, Facebook Marketplace, and resale sites. Also see if your area has any big organized resales. Not only is it way cheaper to buy used, it's less wasteful!

    I agree, spacing out the big purchases helps a lot, and prioritizing. We didn't need a bassinet, a grow with me crib and a packnplay was what we ended up choosing. Both items should last us a few years! We don't need a stroller just yet, so holding off on that one  we actually have a ton of security cameras that we already use in our home that we are comfortable using in the nursery, so no need to buy anything there (but I do have some $30 non wifi options in my list just in case we change our minds)

    The big purchases I've really focused on longevity, the other stuff definitely if you can get second hand or thrift will go a long way!
