Anyone else get put on 2 low dose aspirin? Was told to prevent pre eclampsia. Never had any BP issues before. Currently 18weeks pregnant. 39y/o. Anyone else?

Re: Aspirin

  • I’m also on a low dose, but I do have chronic high BP. They’ve only got me taking 1/day, started at 12 weeks.

  • I am on two lose dose aspirin! I was told to start at 12 weeks, also no history of high BP.
  • Hello! I’m 41. First pregnancy. No history of BP issues myself or in my family. I started taking the low dose aspirin at 14 weeks. My friend is on her 3rd pregnancy and took it with her second (who is now 2.5) no issues, no preeclampsia and is taking it with her third now. I really debated it but the risk of not taking it outweighed taking it. Hope that helps.
  • I am on 162 mg of baby aspirin due to prior preeclampsia and HELLP in 2023. There is very little risk in taking aspirin for most people and you want to avoid PreE at all costs.
  • What exactly was it prescribed to you for?
  • I had my first at 38 and am 21 weeks with my second at 41 years old. I was prescribed low dose aspirin for both due to advanced maternal age (AMA) - there have been no other “concerns” in either pregnancy.

As other commenters have referred to, we “older moms” are at statistically higher risk for preeclampsia and pre-term labor. The Aspirin is intended to prevent those complications.

There is no harm in taking it. My first is an extremely happy healthy and way too smart 2.5 year old now.

  • Age is a factor, but this is acceptable. Besides, you can try remedies like relax calm tea, I have tried it and found it impressive
