    For a newborn, I loved a simple play gym with hanging toys they could bat at. Also, a small mirror was surprisingly fascinating to my baby. They don’t need much. Your face, your voice, and a couple of soft, safe textures go a long way.

    High-contrast black and white cards or books were a big hit for us in those early weeks.
