1st Trimester

Nausea and Work

Hello Bump peeps! This is my first pregnancy so this is all very new to me and I’ve never posted or interacted on something like this before, but I am excited for the community aspect of this app!

I am feeling the first trimester (week 5) nausea HARD. I am struggling but I’m also so excited because the symptoms make this feel so real and I am so grateful for this experience. Is anyone else struggling with getting through the work day and managing the nausea? I’m not planning to tell coworkers that I’m pregnant until I’m so noticeably pregnant I can’t hide it anymore lol, but I’m afraid if I leave work feeling sick, at some point someone will jokingly ask if I’m pregnant. Can anyone relate or does anyone have helpful tips for managing nausea to get through the work day? Thank you in advance!:)

My coworkers def think something’s up and keep asking me if i’m okay. Don’t know how much longer I can keep the secret i’m only 8 weeks along 😩

  • Congratulations on your pregnancy! It's great to hear you're excited about this new experience. Dealing with nausea while working can be challenging, but a few tips might help. Try keeping crackers or ginger-based snacks at your desk for quick relief. Staying hydrated is important, so sip on water throughout the day. If possible, take short breaks to get fresh air, which might help ease the nausea. Wearing loose clothing and using acupressure wristbands can also be beneficial. Remember, it’s okay to take care of yourself, and if needed, consider confiding in a trusted coworker or supervisor for support. Take care!
  • I can totally relate to you. At 7 wks, nausea hit like me like a truck. It was non-stop and unbearable with office job. One thing that helped me a lot was "No to Morning Sickness Tea"—it’s a natural herbal tea and honestly one of the only things that took the edge off for me. I’d sip it discreetly at my desk throughout the day and it really made a difference. Everyone's different, but it might be worth a try! Hang in there

Congratulations!! I am also dealing with this with my first pregnancy. We recently had a return to office mandate for 3 days in office and I’m struggling hard. I’m at 9 weeks but it hit me hard at week 7 too. I’ve gotten 2 nosey coworkers making comments about my ginger ale and Gatorade in the morning lol but I just shrugged them off. I’m not saying anything until I’m ready but I do feel like it’s getting harder. I tried the Pink Stork Nausea Sweets and Preggie Pops along with constantly snacking on crackers and plain Cheerios which have really helped but it got so bad I was throwing up in the office. So I talked with my doctor and she recommended I take the over the counter med Unisom. A half tablet every night has been helping me get through the days much easier.
