𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴? Drained! The need to nest is bizarre and I find myself hyper fixating on things I would have never expected. This weekend, my husband and I deep cleaned the garage, I still have no idea why I pushed for this to be completed but I feel so relieved that it’s clean now. I always assumed nesting would be something like organizing the nursery- not painting, scrubbing, and garbage hauls lol

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀:
Rants: still just hip pain, I was hoping yoga stretches would help but I’m accepting this may just be typical in pregnancy

Rave: my sister (finally) had her gender reveal party. My sister is 6 weeks ahead of me in her pregnancy, but wanted to wait to reveal her baby’s gender until st paddy’s day (her husband is of Irish decent and is obsessed with st paddy’s). As her secret keeper/ party organizer, I have known her baby’s gender since January when she got her NIPT results, so I felt like I had to walk on egg shells around her to avoid accidentally telling her what she’s having. So relieved that she finally knows 😅

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:

𝗚𝗧𝗞𝗬: If someone were visiting you and it was their first time in your area, where would you take them?

I live in wine country in California so when people visit, I usually love to take them to local wineries and tasting rooms- I’ve got the inside scoop on the ones that are fun and affordable! We also live about 45 minutes from San Francisco, so if people have never been, I like to take them to check out the city and a neighboring area called Sausalito.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴? I’m doing okay. Baby moving a lot more lately which is fun. My husband and daughter can feel him now, too! Trying to get at least 3 workouts in during the week.

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: Rave: My daughter turns 6 on 3/21 and we have a fun Saturday with family plan the off to Disney on Sunday! Looking forward to celebrating her and enjoying our last vacation as a family of 3.

Rant: WORK. Why can’t people take accountability for the things they are responsible for? Also, it is obvious vacation is needed 😂

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: NATM

𝗚𝗧𝗞𝗬: If someone were visiting you and it was their first time in your area, where would you take them? Local breweries and our walking mall historical district. And if it’s in the summer I live by a lake so we’d hit that up. We are in Northern VA so lots of historical options as well and not terribly far from DC. Depends on what the person is interested in, but my preference is staying as local as possible!

@peach93 I went to San Francisco as a kid and I LOVED Sausalito! I was pretty young (like 8 or 9), but I still remember that part of the trip fondly 😊

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴? Pretty good physically, definitely feel like my bump is popping more and more in these last couple weeks so that's an adjustment but kind of a fun one! Some random aches and pains (hips are randomly bothering me too@peach93) but nothing big. Emotionally still a bit stressed about having to go back to check on her growth but trying to stay positive!

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: Rave - off for spring break this week then only about 9ish weeks till I'm off for the summer, definitely feels nice to know I'm in that ending stretch!

𝗚𝗧𝗞𝗬: If someone were visiting you and it was their first time in your area, where would you take them? I live in a super touristy area near beaches in Florida, so it depends if they're interested in doing that kinda stuff! Otherwise there are also cute downtown areas and breweries.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴? Nauseous, still. Also having pretty bad round ligament pain and carpal tunnel in both wrists. Definitely feeling the “geriatric” pregnancy. 🙃

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: Rant: Lots going on right now work/school-wise. Glad for spring break coming up soon! Rave: Baby’s wiggling around plenty and really seems to like it whenever I have something to eat 😂

𝗚𝗧𝗞𝗬: If someone were visiting you and it was their first time in your area, where would you take them?
I’m near Chicago, but prefer the chiller suburbs. With the nicer weather we’ve been having, I’d recommend the botanic gardens, visiting Lake Michigan, and checking out the elk at Busse Woods.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴? Starting to get some restless leg at night. It was the worst with my son!! I think I'll try drinking a magnesium drink before bed instead of using a magnesium lotion, because I've heard from other moms that the drink worked better for them. But overall, I'm enjoying the second trimester. I feel pretty good, and I'm taking advantage of the energy I have to get the house in order!

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: Rant is that my son is being a savage toddler. So much defiance. Pushing boundaries big time. I think he had trouble adjusting to the time change last week, so he was tired and that made his behavior worse. He seems to be a bit more agreeable this week. I said to my husband, maybe we'll see the newborn phase in a new light this time around. Compared to toddler antics, what's so bad about major sleep deprivation?? lol

My rave is that I treated myself to some mint chocolate chip ice cream with chocolate sauce over the weekend and it was SO good!

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: NATM

𝗚𝗧𝗞𝗬: If someone were visiting you and it was their first time in your area, where would you take them?

There are several nice wineries nearby here in CT, so I would take them there if that's their thing. Or perhaps Mohegan Sun casino if they like that. There are so many pretty farms near us too that have amazing farm stands. But if it's fall time, definitely a nice orchard for some apple picking!!

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: Rant is that the cold weather seemed to be gone and this week it’s back, along with more snow. Rave is that we are definitely feeling ready for baby and get to paint the nursery this week!

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴? Overall great! The heartburn is starting to kick in and I'm getting uncomfortable sleeping at night (having 2 60lb. dogs in bed doesn't help that either), but other than that doing really well. I had unbearable heartburn throughout my entire pregnancy with my daughter, so I'll take this.

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: Been a while since I posted! Life has been crazy over here owning our own businesses, being home with our daughter, and trying to get ready for the new little guy's arrival! We've been using care.com to try and find a nanny/sitter to assist once he's born.

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: For other women who have more than 1 child - did you feel disconnected in your second+ pregnancies? With my daughter I was so excited every time she moved, I knew the fruit (or whatever) she was the size of and was excited to get weekly updates, I imagined every little thing once she was here... This time around I barely even remember I'm pregnant and just feel a disconnect from the whole thing. I'm not sure if it's just because this is the second and life is just so crazy now with a 15 month-old and this is normal or if it's something else...

𝗚𝗧𝗞𝗬: If someone were visiting you and it was their first time in your area, where would you take them?

So, we have a house in NJ and a house in FL. FL is easy because we're about 20 minutes from Disney, so we'd definitely go there! NJ is tough because we're in the middle of nowhere and nothing happens so I'd probably take them to this small town to walk around/shop.

@dmcg17 In my experience, feeling a little more disconnected in subsequent pregnancies than the first pregnancy has been normal. With my first I had so much more capacity, there is so much unknown to think/dream/worry about, and so much to do to prepare. I had the time and capacity to take it all in. Now, I keep misreporting how far along I am, as in I keep thinking I’m less far than I am by a week or two! 🙃 I don’t feel like it means it’s less special or magical (I hope!), just that life looks different the second time around. Full disclosure: I am also one who slowly bonds. I don’t feel the deep connection during pregnancy or immediately after birth. That isn’t to say, I don’t feel any bond or connection, but it usually takes a little bit of time for me. So, that might account for some of my overall experiences, too. I will say, I have remembered thinking with each subsequent one “how could I ever love another like I do this one? Or these ones?” And it is so amazing to see how your heart just expands.

𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝘂𝘁/𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲/𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗸/𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻: Love surprises.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴? Getting used to the slower speed this time around. I kept waiting for the second trimester energy to kick-in, but I think halfway through it’s time to call it. I still feel better than the first trimester, just not as great as I usually do. I also randomly still get bouts of nausea, which hasn’t happened to me before. I just embrace the energy when it comes and rest when it’s gone.

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: We had some glimpses of sunshine and nice weather, but the snow is back. It’s typical for March here, but I am so ready for sunshine and warm weather.

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:

𝗚𝗧𝗞𝗬: If someone were visiting you and it was their first time in your area, where would you take them? People usually come to visit during the winter to ski, but the summers here are hard to beat! We live close to a lot of great places to hike or mountain bike and the boys love going to the lakes to swim or try to catch fish/insects/etc. The natural hot springs are amazing (non-pregnant) and there are a lot of great places to eat, too. We have a favorite breakfast spot we take most people when they visit, winter or summer.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴? Feeling mostly good, lots of pee breaks during the day though & plenty of rest is needed. The bump is bumping, the hips are hurting and I have a lot of lower back pain still. Otherwise I’m enjoying the “smaller” bump still & know I should take in these days before I’m so large and in charge I start to waddle! Haha

𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: Rave - Finally feeling baby girl kick! Only took 23 weeks but it’s so exciting and special to feel. Definitely contributes to a bonding feeling

Definitely to the beach! I live on the coast in South Carolina so there’s lots of shopping and beachy things to do. I’m a home body but I think it would be fun for someone visiting to see

@dmcg17 I feel like the same as you and echo what @routtymama said! I also was slow to connect with my son. I think I was just running on fumes those first few months, but once I came out of the fog I really started to bond with him. And now he's my favorite person in the world, so in comparison, it's hard to feel that same intense love for baby #2. I know it will come though, just like it did with my son!

@watermelonsunshine I know it's easier said than done, but try not to stress over all the things that "need" to be done to prepare for baby! I remember my brother telling me that all you really need at the beginning is diapers and those plain, white onesies. And it's true! Everything else is just extra. And SO much of it you figure out on the fly, when the time comes. It's part of what makes parenting stressful, and part of what makes it a wild adventure. One of the moms in my first bump group has 4 kids and her 3 kid's "nursery" is a crib in an empty closet! Though, her kids primarily co-sleep in her bed/in her room, so that crib has mostly gone unused. And it works for her! And you'll make it work too, even if you don't have it figured out now!
