congrats!!! Would love to hear your birth story whenever you have the time. Last I read you tried doing a membrane sweep last week but no dice. Curious to know if things just started on their own or if you tried any other induction strategies. Either way, so glad to hear baby is here and I hope you both are doing well!
@froggerblue Congratulations on the arrival of your baby boy! What an exciting surprise to welcome him early! At 39 weeks, he sounds healthy and strong at 8 lbs and 20 inches. It's wonderful to hear that both of you are doing well. This is such a precious time filled with new experiences and joy. If you have any questions or need support as you embark on this beautiful journey of parenthood, don’t hesitate to reach out. Enjoy every moment with your little one!
Thank you all!! 😊 @MrsCaliRN Actually, on my appointment on Friday, I was asked if I wanted to try another membrane sweep and I refused this time around. I felt tired and since the first didn't work out even though I had great odds, I felt like it wasn't worth the discomfort. Still, I was able to pushed back my induction date to Wednesday since baby's tracing and my BP was better this week. I did eat some dates and worked on the exercise ball though. I tried to walk around as much as I could too.
For my birth story : It was quite an expeditive birth experience. What happened is I woke up at almost 3AM feeling like a balloon popped near my cervix. That's how it felt to me when my water broke. Immediately after the gush of amniotic fluids, contractions started but at only 3min intervals. Within 10min, the L&D was called to plan our arrival, partner was up, car was packed and my one year old was in her carseat, staying with us until my mother got there to take care of her while I was in labor. Well, we arrived at the hospital, even though I was desperate for an epidural, I couldn't get one. Baby was at station -2 when we got to the hospital, so the doctor was called. I had been awake for a total of 25min at that point. We had to wait for the doctor for a bit, and that gave baby some time to descend to station 0. Once the doctor was there, I was told I could finally pushed (I had a hard time managing the contractions at that point to be honest) and in less than 10min I had my baby boy in my arms. He was born a little past 4AM.
TLDR: Expeditive birth ; woke up in pain, drove to the hospital and had baby within 1h15min.
@froggerblue omg congratulations!! So happy to hear you and your baby are doing well. Keep us posted! And wow that is quite the birth story!! How awesome!
Hello y’all! Proud to post here even though I ended up being a November momma after all. Announcing the arrival of my baby boy, Quincy! Labor started at 1:30am, contractions painful but tolerable every 10-15 mins a part until they picked up in frequency around 5:30am. Bounced on ball and deep breathing until they changed to 7-10 mins apart. Got checked at prenatal appt at 10am and was at a loose 3cm. Said okay to a membrane sweep. Contractions picked up within a few hours and were very 4 mins and couldn’t talk through them, also had some brown-ish bloody show. Headed to the hospital and checked again around 1pm, still at a loose 3cm but 80% effaced and lost my mucus plug which looked like a big brownish-red blood clot. Admitted and labored for a couple more hours and contractions were intolerable. Checked again and still at 3cm. Felt defeated because of slow progress and got an epidural. Epidural was hard to place and stopped working the last hour and a half but was so helpful for a few hours. Checked again around 6pm, was at 7cm, 100% effaced. Midwife broke my water then things went crazy. Baby Quincy was born vaginally at 7:45pm (18 hrs after contractions first started) at 39w5d. My hardest and most painful delivery d/t epidural failure. Felt the ring of fire and full contractions while pushing, which thankfully only lasted 5 contractions. Baby boy is 6lb13oz, 20 in long and breastfeeding like a champ.
Grateful beyond words for the privilege of Bumping alongside you mommas. Wishing the best to each of you still waiting and for all of us who now have our babes in our arms after so many months!
Alice Scott was born on 12/3 at 7 lbs and 20 inches. Labor was induced with AROM for gestational hypertension (I had pre-e last time) at 37 weeks. Not bad for an induction - I was already 5 cm, 80% effaced do a bit of a head start. It was unmedicated, took 6 hours total and probably 3 from the time contractions really started. Much better recovery this time - no magnesium drip, no postpartum hemorrhage, no third degree tear. Alice is a sleepy early termer, but big sis (and parents) is totally enamored 🥰
Hey everyone! I was mostly hanging out in January 2025 but thought I’d cross post here.
Baby boy Luka made his appearance Friday December 6 via c section at 36 weeks! He is 2 kg (4.4 lbs)
Thursday night I started feeling awful and ultimately decided to go to the hospital where my blood pressure was insanely high and my platelets were low, and my liver function was not good. At that point I was nearly pre eclamptic, the admitted me to keep close watch overnight and moved my c section to the morning.
Luka needed oxygen therapy for a few hours immediately after birth but quickly graduated to room air. We were discharged Sunday morning and are working on recovering at home! He has taken to nursing really well so hopefully i will be able to get him to gain some weight soon.
@kmtz89 Welcome to the December group! Congratulations for your beautiful baby boy!! I'm sure it wasn't easy, little Luka, but you did really well if you are back home with your mama. 🥰
I started out in this group with a due date of 12/4, but I had a scheduled induction on 11/29. Turns out that we didn’t make it to either—my water broke overnight 11/25-11/26 and we headed to the hospital early.
Finley was born at 1:33am on 11/27 right at 39 weeks. We were scheduled for induction due to health risks, so I couldn’t be more relieved!
When I arrived, I was maybe 50% effaced but only 1cm dilated, so we went ahead with an augmented labor using cytotec and pitocin. It felt like a lot of hurry up and wait—I ended up needing to get almost 3L of fluids, which delayed starting pain medications. Once I finally got an epidural placed, I was relieved and looking forward to some sleep, only to have strong contractions return after the anesthesiologist adjusted my dosage. I was worried the epidural wasn’t working correctly, so they upped the dosage, only for the nurse to suggest a cervical check to find I was fully dilated, maybe 3 hours after starting the pitocin. 13 pushes later and this guy was healthy and in my arms.
We’ve had some trouble getting him back to birthweight, but he’s doing much better now!
Violet Noelle was born on at 7:43 PM on Christmas Eve! 6 lbs 12 oz and 19.5 inches.
I had a few small contractions in the morning, which started becoming stronger and more regular around noon. Around 3pm, I had a small amount of bleeding, so I called the hospital and was advised to come in.
We got into triage around 4:40 and found out I was 5 cm dilated and 100% effaced. I labored naturally, using a birth ball for support for a while, then standing or squatting while leaning on my husband. By about 7 pm, I was 9 cm and soon after was ready to push. I pushed for about 10 minutes, and Violet was born.
I needed some stitches, and then we were mostly left alone for a few hours before moving to our recovery room. Violet has been nursing pretty well, which is a huge relief, and sleeping for decent stretches so far, so we’ve all gotten some rest. We are almost ready to go home!
Hope everyone is having a very merry Christmas!

I woke up around 3am with some mild contractions. More than BH, but not anything I needed to do anything about. And I noticed that if they slowed down, all I needed to do was change position and they'd get going again. They were regular and seemed promising for about an hour and half before fizzling out and just being sporadic. So later that morning I went to my regularly scheduled appointment (40+2.) I was having some other early labor symptoms so DH came with me and we brought our bags. Had my first cervical check for this pregnancy and was 5cm, thinned and baby at -2, so went ahead and had a membrane sweep. My sporadic contractions were maybe every half hour at this point, but I had a feeling if I started walking we could get them going more consistently, so we spent maybe an hour walking around the hospital grounds. And that did get them going right away, like spaced only a minute apart.
After maybe an hour of walking they were definitely getting stronger, but I was still a little nervous that they would stop again if I stopped walking. I had a chiro appt already scheduled 5 minutes away so we kept that one too, and the contractions did relax in the car ride. But while waiting in the lobby I started feeling like, "if I have another contraction like that one we're leaving here right away." But I made it through the appointment and then we went straight back to the hospital and got checked in.
Labor was a bit precipitous, it reminded me a lot of my first birth in intensity and how the contractions were stacked on top of each other - even though this time my waters were intact! They broke on their own when I started pushing, and instead of the other times when I had them broken before that transition where it creates a huge jump in intensity, this time it was such a good feeling of relief to have them out of the way. And since I'd already transitioned to pushing there wasn't a change otherwise. He is big, and pushing took a good deal of work for every inch of him, but he was born within 3 hours of that chiro appointment.
My last son was born December 22nd. Since I am an older Mom, the OB recommended inducing. It was scary at first, but by the next afternoon we got to officially meet our boy! He started reaching for my face and grabbed my hair for the first time as the nurses tried to give him to Dad for a while. Couldn’t love this little dude more.
