One of my favorite names! We may have used this name for our son (due in July), but DH has a family tradition that dictates we give our first son the double middle name "William James," and Jameson William James is too redundant. Maybe if we have a second boy!
Just found out Saturday we are having a boy... I had mentioned Jameson to hubby on Friday night and he absolutely fell in love. It's the first name we have both loved, so I have a funny feeling it will end up our final choice (it's the only name on our "short list" right now). For the record, Jameson IS my husbands favorite drink, and everyone knows it, but no one has even thought of that when we tell them the name unless we point it out. Even hubby himself didn't immediately think of it.
@jbettles tell me your thoughts on this since it is clearly on our short list too... My husband and I have loved the name since before we were married and we would fantasize about what we would name our future children. We live in Tampa Florida and who do the buccaneers pick as their first round draft pick last week? Jameis Winston, the crab leg stealing lunatic who was accused of raping some girl on campus while he was a student at FSU. Now this guy is likely going to be the quarterback of our city's football team and will probably continue to be in the public eye and will likely continue to add to his rap sheet of questionable life choices and poor behavior. The names are just so similar and I would hate for people to name associate my kid with this character. Am I being overly dramatic about the whole thing? If he had been drafted anywhere else it wouldn't bother me but since he is going to be a hometown "hero-with-a-criminal-record" to the city of Tampa for the next 10+ years, I just wonder if the names are too similar.
@babyM92315 I just searched for this post again and saw your question - sorry for a late reply But we are big football fans and watched the draft and I didn't even think about Jameis and Jameson being similar. They are when you put them side by side like that, I guess, but it really hadn't crossed my mind . Also, FWIW, I don't see Jameis Winston having a long NFL career. That guy just has gotten himself into too many scrapes, and I only see it getting worse when you add in money and fame! So by the time our boys are toddlers, no one will be talking about him anymore anyway!!
Re: Boy name feedback: Jameson
I've never had anyone reference the liquor when they think or say his name. It's not naming your kid tequila or something.
