Baby is the size of a (an): lemon

    Team blue/pink/green: 🩷

Upcoming Appointments: need to schedule my 16 week appointment but hoping it'll be the 20th!

How are you feeling?: still getting waves of nausea and feeling fatigued. Hopefully that's almost over now that I'm almost to the second trimester🤞

Rants/Raves: my husband got rear ended on Saturday and the insurance company is saying they're only going to give us 80% of what our car seat is worth because it's two years old. Sure annoyed about that because I think they should cover the whole thing? That's it really lol

Questions: in previous pregnancies when was the earliest you felt your little one moving around?

GTKY: Favorite ice cream flavor! Mint chocolate chip😋🤤
  • DD / Weeks + Days:  9 weeks, 5 days

Baby is the size of a (an): cherry

    Team blue/pink/green: 💙

Upcoming Appointments: I have a 10-week (and 1 day) ultrasound on Halloween. I'm basically going to have a ton of ultrasound photos by the time the baby is born! This is going to be my fourth time seeing him and I can't have enough!

How are you feeling?: Good! I don't feel pregnant sometimes and I just wonder when I finally will?

Rants/Raves: I'm excited. This week, after my 10 week ultrasound, I'm going to tell some close friends about my pregnancy. It'll finally get real!

GTKY: Favorite ice cream flavor!  I just had an ice cream called "Trouble with the Snap" from the Michigan State University Dairy Store this weekend. It was delicious  ... vanilla ice cream, caramel swirl, chocolate covered caramels, and chocolate covered pretzels!

Team blue/pink/green: unknown, did unity test last week 🤞🏻

Upcoming Appointments: 11/21 for 16w appt

How are you feeling?:  Still so tired. I want to workout because it relieves some of my nesting/planning instincts but I can barely stay awake at work or play with my son as it is

Rants/Raves: got sick from visiting my family this past weekend and hate that you can’t take basically anything for congestion

    Questions: none at this time!

    GTKY: Favorite ice cream flavor!
Also a mint chocolate chip girl all the way!
  • Ugh, I'm sorry you're sick. I went to a family birthday celebration two weeks ago and my husband's cousin came with a cold and sat next to me. I'm finally almost over it. Something that helped (but I've used it for years) is the Navage. I say that it's like the Neti Pot on steroids (you may want to Google it). It's a bit pricey but it does a good job flushing out your sinuses.

@cuveema12-23 Someone told me recently about a natural cold remedy that I’ve found has worked pretty well. You just put garlic cloves in honey in a mason jar. You can have it sit on your counter all during the cold season because the honey keeps it preserved. If you feel a cold or something coming on, eat one of the garlic cloves.

Rants/Raves: My 2-year-old figured out how to get out of her crib so we transitioned her to a big girl bed and she stayed in it all night last night with no issues! Really looking forward to not having to deal with laying her down in her crib while very pregnant later on.

    Questions: None right now.

Rants/Raves: excited for Halloween and to see my little ones all dressed up!

Questions: Trying to find a midwife in my area is getting tricky. Anyone else have resources to help find one?

I lean hard on local Facebook mom groups if you're part of one of those? I always get good recommendations from local moms.

    Team blue/pink/green: Green!

Upcoming Appointments: Tomorrow (Oct 31st)! I have my first ultrasound appointment!

How are you feeling?: Still getting tired super easily, also I am burping all the time

Rants/Raves: I went to a local baby show in my area this past weekend and ended up winning a draw prize from one of the booths! The prize is a session with a photographer and it's our choice on how we'd like to use it. Currently thinking I'll save it for a newborn session

Questions: I am going to ask my midwife when I have my next appointment, but a friend recently said that if you plan on breastfeeding, now until you stop you can't use toothpastes with fluoride in them. I've only done a very brief google search but was curious if anyone else had been told this by a HC professional.

Definitely ask your midwife, but I breastfed my first for 14 months and was never told to avoid fluoride toothpaste. My dentist did have me skip the applied fluoride at my dentist appointments while pregnant and breastfeeding but that was because it was a way bigger ‘dose’ than you would get while brushing your teeth.

Team blue/pink/green: will find out tonight!

Upcoming Appointments: had NT ultrasound today!

How are you feeling?: grateful that baby is looking good and NIPT tests came back low risk. Physically I feel icky :/

Rants/Raves: I leave on sunday for a 2 week trip in europe. Really hoping some of these first trimester symptoms start to subside because it is going to be tough traveling and working when I am having a hard time keeping food down. On the plus side my husband and I are doing a little gender reveal tonight, this has to be my favorite halloween yet🩷

Questions: Is anyone else having trouble with nausea? any advice? my dr. prescribed me zofran but i’m trying to avoid taking it, i think i’m just paranoid about anything negatively effecting the baby

GTKY: Favorite ice cream flavor! Usually it’s anything chocolate but right bow the thought of ice cream makes me feel sick!
  • @mrs.mermaid12 I'm also on baby #2 and breastfed (and bottle fed pumped milk) and have never heard of the toothpaste fluoride thing before. Let us know what your midwife says?

I spoke with my Midwife today about this at my appointment and she had never heard of this before. She did some quick searching in an online medical database (not sure what she used, assuming it was something she has access to with her credentials) and found nothing. Said if there had been actual correlation between using toothpastes with fluoride and pregnancy issues, it would be more widely published (on places like The Bump for example). I mentioned about the fluoride "wash" at the dentist and she said the dentist themselves would be able to make that call but she could see skipping that making sense because of the larger dose and the possibility of accidentally swallowing some with how it is applied.

So personally, I'll be continuing with my current toothpaste that has fluoride and at my next dentist appointment I'll probably question the "wash" aspect as a precaution.
  • @mrs.mermaid12 Thanks for the update! My dentist had also mentioned there were no trials or studies on the applied fluoride during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Since he didn’t have evidence to say if it was safe/not safe for baby during pregnancy or if it could get passed through breast milk with the higher dose, it was recommended to just skip and wait till after pregnancy/breastfeeding.
  • @rlindqui16 my midwife spoke briefly about trials and studies too. Pretty much said currently it wouldn't be ethical to run a test where 100 pregnant people drank large amounts of fluoride and then have 100 pregnant people not use any, to pinpoint if there were issues around fluoride. A lot more things would have to happen first to convince someone to do that study and to even be able to get participants. Also with it being something that naturally is in the majority of water supplies to some degree, trying to make sure we never consumed any while pregnant would be next to impossible.
