Question Thread

Starting this for a place to put all of our questions. It'll help keep the board cleaned up from one offs and help things not get missed!

Re: Question Thread

  • Thank you! I accidentally posted one having missed this, so I changed my thread to a different usual BMB thread.

  • Moody/irritable has been one of the first signs I have had of being pregnant also. And it is mostly directed towards hubby, for some reason every little thing is bothersome. The only thing that has helped is burying myself in TV shows/movies and just trying to keep my mind as calm and relaxed as possible. Trying to discuss the frustration with hubby has not been the most helpful 😂
  • How are you all managing the nausea? My morning sickness was horrendous with my first kiddo, required Zofran to simply keep food/water down. The nausea isn’t too bad this time around but it’s still bothersome and makes work uncomfortable. I sometimes drink the mini bottles of Sprite and it seems to ease my stomach, not the healthiest remedy but something is something. What are some of the stuff y’all are using to remedy your nausea?
  • mint tea seems to help with the nausea. And saltine crackers.
  • For the nausea, my Dr prescribed Diclegis which has helped me not get sick so much, it’s honestly been a bit of a lifesaver. Ice cold drinks and animal crackers along with trying to maintain eating throughout the day and not letting your stomach go empty. Also sipping on the liquids and not drinking too much at once. Foods have been hit or miss daily but popsicles, frozen gogurts and soups have all seemed to settle okay. I hope you start to feel better from the nausea! It is really no fun.
  • Anyone have recommendations for heartburn? I hate having to take tums. Heartburn just showed up today. It's always my worst symptom throughout pregnancy. Someone recommended papaya enzymes, I'm going to give that a try. But I'm all ears. My kidneys can't take another 8 months of tums.
  • My OB recommended instead of eating normal sized meals, eat a small meal/large snack every 2 hours or so, and that has REALLY helped me with the nausea. Ginger flavored seltzer water has also helped a bit and there’s no added sugar so you could try that if you want to lessen your intake of soda. Sending you all good non-nauseous vibes!
  • I am six weeks pregnant (having an early scan on Wed to confirm) but for the last couple days my abdomen right above my public bone is quite firm! It feels like if someone tensed their ab muscles and you poke it and it's solid. I've been having nausea, sore boobs and nipples, increased urination and tiredness from what I worked out to be about least 4 weeks pregnant.
I didn't realise your stomach could do it this early! It definitely doesn't feel like bloating. I'm bloated up top by my stomach, but you can feel a massive difference between that and just above my public bone!

    What's your guys experiences?
  • Wanting to see if anyone has had experience with complications during pregnancy. Was diagnosed with BV earlier in January which I was prescribed antibiotics for. At our first OB appt on 1/29 we did all the obligatory blood and urine testing and ended up coming back with a major urine infection that I have been prescribed antibiotics by OB that are not recommended for use while pregnant but apparently the infection is so bad that it’s of higher importance to take the meds than it would be to not be taking them which naturally has my anxiety up. I’ve also been dealing with hyperemesis gravidarium (sp) and have had to be on Diclegis which is helping keep foods and liquids down but has not helped the nausea or food aversions. At 9 weeks we confirmed baby is okay but after a miscarriage this time last year I am having issues dealing with everything going on and all the worries of if the baby is okay or not still (I am 10w2d). Has anyone had any experience having these types of issues? I am having a hard time dealing with it mentally and feel a bit alone in this.
  • I had a UTI with 2 of my previous 5 pregnancies. I had 2 with one and was further along. The uti was making my body have contractions. I also have food aversion symptoms with all of them but with my first the most. I think all this is normal as is worrying after a loss. I hope this finds you some peace.
  • I've been drinking at least one cup of ginger lemon pro-biotic tea. It doesn't have any caffine in it so I can drinking it multiple times a day if need be.
And Reeds Ginger Ale. The ginger with the bubbles has helped SO much. I only drink the ginger ale when it becomes unbearable. However,  I have just nausea and not vomiting so I can only speak for the nausea.
  • Im 10 weeks and have been dealing with nausea since about 6 weeks. The small meals thing was helping for a bit but the nausea has just been kicking my
butt. I talked with my OB who recommended B6 + unisom so I finally tried that last night and I woke up this morning with NO nausea for the first time in weeks. I feel like a million bucks today lol. It might not work for everyone but worth considering if the nausea is really taking its toll on you!!! Good luck everyone!
  • How has everyone been dealing with trying to function normally (lol)? The nausea and getting sick seems to be much better with sitting but I cannot seem to do anything around the house without gagging or getting sick. I do not have a partner who is at all good with keeping things clean and organizing things so the house is just a constant disaster which has become a bit of a point of contention. I also know it’s not good to just be sitting around all the time but can’t seem to figure out how to manage it yet. Anyone have similar experience or tips? Is it something you just have to push through and deal with? TIA!

@wa6ss I wish there was a magic button to push. But it's kinda one of those power through things.
Crackers on my nightstand and seltzer or ginger ale help. I eat a cracker before getting out of bed and if I wake up in the middle of the night. An empty tummy is my demise.
My husband tries to help pick up slack, but we have a rowdy bunch. He does hire a cleaning service the last 2 weeks before baby comes and then biweekly for a month or so post partum. Which really helps while we figure out our new family dynamic.
Having meal services like factor are nice. No dishes and cooking and better than most places to eat out at.

The best tip I was ever given especially with a second child was to make a bunch of freezer meals ahead of time. Cook a meal and double it during the last month or so of pregnancy. Super helpful if you have mouths to feed.

Hang in there. This too shall pass.
  • I feel this so hard. My 1 year old wakes up at 5 AM every day and then I teach high school and by the time 4PM rolls around I just want to sleep….but bed time isn’t till 8. I used to clean up after the toddler goes to bed but now I just go to bed too and the house is such a disaster. Hubs helps by cooking every night but cleaning is not his forte. I hate the messy house but hopefully by in the second tri I’ll get it back under control. I also feel like I just sit down every chance I get, not normal but the body knows what it needs, and apparently that’s rest.
  • Thanks for the input @finalcountdown5 and @hspg, glad to know it’s not just me and others have similar experiences. Am also hoping things start to get a bit easier in the second trimester also, not too far away! Was able to get a bit of things done around the house this morning before work, very thankful I have been able to WFH, @hspg that has to be so difficult with a 1 YO and working outside the house. 8 PM does seem like the time though, definitely ready for bed by then! Hope you mamas are able to start feeling better soon also!
  • Not a question, but I've been having alot of nausea with very little puking (as well as other symptoms). However, it is currently 01:33 AM where I live, and I have been puking on and off for the last.....hour? Hour and a half? Wanted to share this with people who will understand.
I know my husband would stay up with me if I woke him, but knowing our luck I'll be able to fall back asleep as soon as I wake him. So I'm just letting him sleep.
  • Update: was up till 4:30AM throwing up. Does any know at what point do I go to the hospital? My husband and I are worried.
  • If anything is ever causing a lot of concern for you I would take a trip to the ER or urgent care! In my first pregnancy I had really horrendous morning sickness and was constantly throwing up everything, even on an empty stomach I would puke. I can’t remember if I went to ER or UC but turned out I was dehydrated from so much vomiting, they gave me fluids through an IV and prescribed me Zofran to help the nausea/vomiting. Maybe your doctor can give you something to manage your symptoms? Doesn’t hurt to ask, best of luck!
  • Hello! I’m almost at 22 weeks and today I started having what I’m assuming are Braxton Hicks. I’m concerned because I’ve had at least 15-20 of them today. I work as a physical therapist assistant and it happened almost every time I had to lift a patient and bend down. Is anyone else experiencing Braxton Hicks at this point in your pregnancy?
  • I have been having Braxton hicks as well and I’ve also felt weird pulling/ tightening when I lift my kids, turn around to fast, make certain other movements. My doctor said it’s normal and with my belly being stretched out so much, different movements can cause even more stretching and tightening as it’s already making a big adjustment. If you’re concerned about it, call your doctor. Only they can give you solid advice about if what’s going on is okay and safe for your pregnancy or if you might have to change some of your responsibilities at work or something else. I hope everything works out well for you and you and baby are healthy and thriving!
  • I’m 22w as well and had a bunch today like you. I was a bit concerned but  My doc previously said to drink water and try to change positions. They should go away, not be painful (uncomfortable sure). I asked about lifting restrictions due to my age and my level of work (I work as an OT in IPR) and she said no more than 20 lbs. (clearly she doesn’t know how our jobs work🤣). If you r concerned then get a doctor note on writing giving restrictions and your job will comply.
your uterus is a muscle and it’s stretching and growing w baby. Hopefully pNormal but definitely weird how often mine happened today!
Ask for help with anyone over mod/ Max patients! Or try go rest 5 minutes. Maybe drink electrolytes too. Keep stress low.
Good luck Mamma! Protect yourself. ❤️
  • 39 weeks and 4 days with no signs of labor. When did everyone else give birth? The daily text from family and friends for baby watch makes this week feel so long.
