Induction or csection dates??

Anyone else have a set date for baby?? I was due Nov 3rd, I'm 29 weeks 3 days. Baby #3. Now due to some recent health issues I'm set to be induced at 37 weeks so that puts me at October 14th. Anyone else have a LO coming sooner than thought??? I already felt like I wasn't prepared now I feel like the pressure is really on. 😩

Re: Induction or csection dates??

  • My doctor hasn’t officially called it for me, but it’s looking like I’ll have to deliver at 36 weeks due to where my placenta is located. He said it’ll be a c-section. I’m due 11/5, so it’ll be the week of 10/8. I feel ya!

  • I hope everything goes well for you!!! My oldest birthday is 10/8. I wasn't expecting to have 2 of mine have birthdays within the same week 😅🤣
  • Due to my age (42) and the fact that I was a little overweight when I got pregnant, my OB wants to induce me at 39 weeks. I'm having a lot of mixed feelings about it, and am not sure which way things will go. I honestly just hope baby comes early on his own, and then I won't have to worry about making the decision.

My glucose test was normal, my blood work was normal, my blood pressure is normal (although I have been taking low-dose aspirin for a while), I feel as fine as I can be for 26 weeks pregnant. I haven't had any complications, and it feels like when it is convenient for my OB (really, the practice as a whole, not necessarily my dr specifically) my pregnancy is high risk, and when it's convenient for them I'm not high risk.

We start our labor & delivery classes in a week. I have been doing some research on inductions on my own, but am hoping to learn more in our class. It seems like an induction can make the whole process much more difficult on me, and has a higher chance of leading to a C-section. My plan is to have a non-medicated birth, so an induction doesn't feel good to me.

Obviously I needed to vent!! And I don't know what I'm going to do.
  • @heathr419 I am in almost the exact same boat. I have really fraught feelings about induction. My BP is perfect, passed the gestational diabetes test easily, no reason outside of age and weight (BMI 31) to induce. It’s been frustrating to just hope this baby makes her debut early in her own.
  • @heathr419 is it suggested that you go for induction or this is what your OB is saying has to happen? That sounds really frustrating, especially when medically I’m not understanding why there is a need. I hope you can get some clarity and support.
  • @heathr419
I'm in the same boat too! Everything has been completely normal except my age. She had explained, and given me stats, that show the rate of stillbirth dramatically rises at 40 weeks in women who are 40 and older.
At my last appointment we talked about the fact that I'm still vomiting regularly. In almost the same breath she said she's not worried because I'm still gaining a little weight but then she also said we could induce at 37-38 weeks now (it was 39 before) because of the vomiting.

Once I hit 37 weeks, I will up my walking, eat as many spicy foods as possible and get acupuncture and foot massages! I also plan on collecting colostrum at that point so maybe that will move things along a little early naturally.
  • Not entirely the same, but I’m becoming more and more convinced my due date is wrong and I’ll have this baby sooner. Both my previous babies came before their due dates too (but barely, first at 39+5 and second at 39+2).

So, if my actual due date is about a week earlier than my “official” due date and baby comes even sooner than that, we’re maybe looking at almost two weeks prior to the original date. Which is kind of scary seeing how it’s hard for me to find childcare for when I go to the hospital. Historically I also have really fast labors and this being the third baby, and having to deliver at a hospital further away has me on edge! Thankfully my mom will come two weeks before due date and my MIL can stay the week before that, but neither of them have ever cared for both my kids solo longer than a couple hours before.

I’m more worried about the logistics and timing rather than being “ready”, ha.
