I wanted to start this thread because I remember someone asking about what to buy and I don't think there was much of a discussion.  Please remember that all babies and parents are different.  So what might work for one might not work for others.  I just wanted to open up a dialogue to hopefully help answer some questions.

STM and TTM+ please share what things you have loved and hated.  FTM feel free to ask questions about certain items.

    I'll start with something that I love.  We got the Graco Turn2me car seat.  I love being able to put my baby/toddler in the car seat straight on and then turning her to rear facing.  It was really helpful when she was going through the phase when they fight getting in the car seat and arch their back.  Some may not like it because you can't take it out and use it as a carrier.  We knew we didn't want to use a car seat as a carrier so it wasn't a problem for us.

    @kamays54 those carseats are the best!! We had an infant seat but when our babies outgrew it we switch to the swivel seats and they are such a game changer!!

    for my first I had a wrap that she basically lived in for the first 6 months. Locally made here but looks a lot like a solly wrap. It was just so easy for me to tuck her in there and have both hands free! I also felt like it helped from having a lot of unwanted people in her face all the time. In Tanzania, baby wearing is a huge part of the cultural here so I'm looking forward to wearing this baby also.

    @kmtz89 I want to try a wrap with this one.  With our first we got the Ergobaby Omni 360 carrier.  Mostly because my husband would be with her most of the time when I went back to work so I let him decide.  Our daughter was small when she was born so we couldn't really use it at first.  Then when we started to use it, it was summer and we are in Arizona so we could only wear it for like 30 minutes tops (even inside) because both us and the baby would get so hot we were all just so uncomfortable.  We liked the carrier when it wasn't so hot but by that time our daughter wanted nothing to do with it.

    Ive loved my carriers from Happy Baby. So light weight and easy to put on. My babies have practically lived in them and i still use the toddler version with both girls now. The waist band sits right under the bust so comfy enough to wear while pregnant.

    STM & TTM+ what are your go to diaper rash treatments?  My daughter has only had 2 really bad ones and I feel like no matter what we do with this one it won't go away.  We have tried Aquaphor, Baby Vaseline, Boudreaux Butt Paste, and now 2 different types of Desitin.  A little background, she was on antibiotics that gave her diarrhea the rash came on quickly and we ended up having to bring her to the doctor.  It was on the verge of a yeast infection so he prescribed an ointment for her.  It was almost gone (and we ran out of the ointment) but then for some reason it flared back up pretty bad.  I sent the doctor a message but figure this would be a good topic for this thread.

    @kamays54, this happened to my kiddo around the same age. A double whammy of clotrimazole (Lotrimin) and Boudreaux’s fixed it in like two days. We still use the Lotrimin whenever we notice redness or bumps and haven’t had a bad rash in a couple years.

    @wednesdayschild thanks, I'll look into that.  Our Dr just called in another prescription ointment for her so we will pick that up right away.  We got Boudreaux's as a baby shower gift and really liked it.  We tried all the different types when she was a baby.  She hasn't been getting diaper rashes so we stopped using it a while ago. Some people swear by it others are loyal to Desitin.  My sister-in-law just said the only thing that worked on my nephews was the purple Desitin and she tells everyone about it.

    @kamays54, diaper rash can have different causes. The Lotrimin/clotrimazole treats fungal/yeast rashes and the Boudreaux’s & Desitin are both barrier creams for contact rashes. If you use them together on a fungal/yeast rash, the Lotrimin treats the underlying cause and the other cream works as a barrier to prevent further irritation & help healing. If it’s a fungal/yeast, a barrier cream alone won’t help much. Hope the ointment your dr prescribed helps - it’s probably an anti-fungal!

    @wednesdayschild we were putting the other creams over the ointment as a barrier when we still had some and honestly we have been using Aquaphor just as a barrier for months now to try and prevent any rashes.

    It has just been really difficult since she started daycare in April.  She has been sick non-stop and has been on antibiotics 3 times.  The 2nd antibiotic was the one that gave her diarrhea which caused the rash.  We expected her to get sick here and there but this has been a lot.  We have an appointment with an ENT at the end of this month and we'll see if she needs tubes.

    The ointment he prescribed is for yeast infections so it should help.  And my husband just picked it up and he gave us an extra tube plus 1 refill  for 2 more tubes so fingers crossed we can get rid of this fast.  Thanks for the advice!

    @kamays54 if she’s taking antibiotics make sure shes taking a probiotic too! It’s really easy for yeast to take over after an antibiotic wipes out the guts microbiome. Good to get something to treat the yeast on the outside but gotta treat it on the inside too or it will keep coming back.

    @babywiik thanks!  I didn't even think about that.  My husband messed up his stomach really bad about 10 years ago by taking antibiotics and the doctor told him to eat a lot of plain yogurt.  We should have thought about that.

    Reviving this thread! I have the opportunity for someone to bring me baby stuff from America next month and I'm trying to think of things that would be great to have, that aren't available here. 

    Anyone have ideas?

    @kamays54 um well like right now my list has some pacifiers, and pacifier clips, cloth diaper inserts, bottle brush/drying rack, nose frida, cute baby socks haha.

    We can get diapers, wipes, most medicine/cream, clothes (unless I want specialty things). Honestly I feel like a lot more is available even than when I had my first. I mean people have babies all over the world, so I suppose just like more "specialized" things that aren't really a necessity, but are nice to have, if that makes sense

    @kmtz89 one thing that I think is not really a necessity but I use a lot is the Frida 3-in-1 nose, nail, & ear picker. Here's the link to Amazon https://a.co/d/hvDypkD I really have only used the nose part and I really started using it the last 3 months because my daughter is in daycare now and sick all the time.  She usually hates it but will tolerate it more than us trying to use tissues or wipes.
