I'm looking to see if anyone else has had their doctor prescribe low dose asprin to help prevent preeclampsia. How do you feel about it. Did you end up taking the asprin or did you refuse?
They want me to take it from 16 weeks to 32 weeks.
Yes, I was prescribed it starting 14 weeks, for both preeclampsia and fetal development. I have white coat hypertension, so every time I’m in the doctor’s office, my BP spikes. At the same time my monitor at home (when I’m relaxed) is letting me know I’m closer to hyPOtension (last reading 87/68 lol). My body can’t figure it out.
From my own research, it looks like risks are quite low taking baby aspirin. My doc and I agreed to give it a try and if there were any side effects, go ahead and stop it. She suspects I’m low risk for preeclampsia anyway. So far I’ve been doing ok on it (1.5 weeks).
Yes, I saw a reproductive specialist to help me maintain the pregnancy the first 8 weeks and because of my age (36), he recommended I discuss taking the baby Aspirin everyday with my gyno to prevent preclampsia because I am more at risk. I spoke with my gynecologist when I transferred to her care, and she said absolutely. I need to take it in the second trimester (14 weeks and on).
YesI was also prescribed it starting at 13 weeks. I guess twin pregnancies are higher risk for preeclampsia. So far it's been going fine, my thought was that if it will help the babies stay in longer, then I'm game.
I am also on low dose aspirin and feel pretty good about it overall. I haven’t had any negative reactions to it and the studies do seem to indicate a correlation with a reduction in preeclampsia. We are going to follow the docs recommended plan.
i also just had an OB appt yesterday and my BP was 134/74 which is unusual for me. It did make me a little nervous but they told me not to worry but to buy a cuff to use at home which should arrive today.
I was also prescribed baby aspirin by my Maternal Fetal Medicine doctor - he says due to my age (over 40) and first time going into 2nd trimester, I’m at higher risk. No adverse reactions thus far.
I have also been prescribed the low-dose aspirin, I started at 12 weeks. I have no had any adverse effects, although I don't remember to take it every day!
Me also! I did a bunch of fertility testing last year and it showed I might have antiphospholipid syndrome (a clotting issue). I’ve been on low dose aspirin twice a day since I first found out I was pregnant. I don’t have any concerns - didn’t even realize I should tbh.
I am also taking low dose asprin as when I found out I was pregnant I also found out I was hypertensive... so along with a BP med they have me taking it. I haven't had any adverse effects.
My doc prescribed it at my very first appointment! I was diagnosed with Pre E the day before my first kiddo was born (I was 40w 3d), so she recommended I go ahead and start it to help reduce the risk of it reoccurring.
I don’t know if it’s a placebo or what but I feel like I can genuinely tell a difference if I miss a dose. I don’t monitor my blood pressure regularly and it’s not been a cause for concern at any of my appointments so far, but sometimes I feel like I can feel when it goes a little above what it’s supposed to be.
I developed gestational hypertension early on and was borderline preeclamptic with my first during 3rd tri, so my OB recommended it this pregnancy as a precautionary measure. Thankfully all of my stats have been great this go round, but I appreciate anything that helps reduce my risks and puts my mind at ease.
