How are you feeling?: I know it's not a switch but I really thought getting to the 2nd trimester would make me feel better. I think I'm having such a hard time because of the heat though. I have felt a little light-headed and just kinda off the last few days. I'm feeling better today (for now).
GTKY: What was it like growing up as the youngest/oldest/middle/only child? I'm the youngest of 2. I have an older brother. For me, I was the "bad" child and my brother was the angel. But when we got older he started to rebel a little and I felt like I paved the way for him so he didn't get punished as bad and it should have been the other way around lol.

How are you feeling?: Tired, but so so happy. We started sharing our news more widely yesterday, and it's been great not keeping this huge and exciting secret anymore haha.
GTKY: What was it like growing up as the youngest/oldest/middle/only child? I was an oldest child with 1 younger brother and overall loved it. My husband is also an oldest child, and we've been talking about how it will be super interesting with twins how that will or won't impact the birth order dynamic, since we won't really have an oldest child.

Team blue/pink/green: pink - found out Friday
How are you feeling?: good! I get occasional round ligament pain but otherwise still pretty normal.
GTKY: What was it like growing up as the youngest/oldest/middle/only child? I was the younger of two; my sister is 7+ years older than me. My husband was the older of 2 by 6+ years. It was hard being so much younger than my big sister since she could easily beat me up haha. But as we got older, it was so nice to have another mother like figure and we really bonded during my adolescence.

How are you feeling?: still napping, but the morning sickness has eased up and I’m getting more energy bursts in between my daily nap times.
GTKY: What was it like growing up as the youngest/oldest/middle/only child?
I actually got to experience a few roles growing up because my older stepbrother left home and state when I was in 3rd grade and I assumed the role and responsibilities of oldest after that. I have 4 younger siblings (3 living with us), so I was usually treated like an extra parent and built in babysitter, but I had no authority to give any consequences so it was a cluster of my siblings constantly banding against me and my parents mad that stuff wasn’t actually getting done. When everyone was home I mostly stayed out of the way, locked myself in my room with my books, and once I could drive I tried to be at home as little as I could. Lots of resentment, and I actually ended up taking summer school classes to be able to graduate high school early and move out once I turned 18. My relationship with my parents and most of my siblings is much much healthier now that we’re all older, but it definitely put me off having a large family.

Team blue/pink/green: not sure yet!
How are you feeling?: so much better it’s worrying? I had a friend swear by unisom/b6 so have been taking nightly and I swear it’s a miracle. Tried not taking it for a day and threw up the next afternoon so now I’m scared not to take it 😂. But it’s also made me feel so much better it worries me something is wrong! I know at 12w it’s also possible to be on the up and up so trying to not stress and remind myself that as long as there’s no symptoms of concern all is fine.
GTKY: What was it like growing up as the youngest/oldest/middle/only child? Was the oldest of two! Have a younger brother and he’s finally starting to like me now that we’re both in our 30s haha.

How are you feeling?: Overall the fog is lifting! It’s not gone yet and yesterday I got so nauseous out of nowhere! Can feel a little frustrating but if I think how far I’ve come - I am so much better than before! I’m still so tired all the time but I don’t mind that as much! Mostly grateful and excited to finally be in the second trimester! I have a feeling these next months are going to fly by compared to the first Tri
GTKY: What was it like growing up as the youngest/oldest/middle/only child?
I am the oldest of two and absolutely loved it. My brother and I are now very close but we did not get along so well when we were younger. We are going to have a boy as our eldest and hopefully a second child (likely a girl based on our remaining embryos) so it will be the reverse. Not sure how those dynamics change but I think older brothers sound ok. I’m a typical oldest child and I’m the boss so I cannot imagine having someone older than me 🤣
When and how did you tell close friends? I want to have a game night with about 6 of my closest girlfriends and any friends my husband would like to invite.
Planning to have it at 13w + 4 but hubby feels like that may be too soon. 😔
Thoughts?
Youngest child here but always felt like the oldest up until my 30's. I also had so many cousins that i saw weekly that the dynamics of older/ younger were always changing.

Team blue/pink/green: blue but pretty sure we all so a penis at the last appt. Midwife said “we all see it but it IS early so not calling it yet”
How are you feeling?: quite a bit better! Its still challenging to make food but i think its mostly a mental block. The thought of standing over the stove makes me feel nauseous but when I actually do im fine. Still taking unisom/B6. I tried halving my does and i felt sick the next day so need to get more.
GTKY: What was it like growing up as the youngest/oldest/middle/only child?
I’m the youngest of 9 but my older brother had his first when i was almost 2. So, i’ve never been the “baby” per se. My mom was definitely more relaxed with my sisters and i than with my brothers but i think thats only natural with age and experience. I loved my experience growing up. I didnt have to live with chaos every day but chaos (niece and nephews) were often visiting so i got it in smaller doses😂 my poor husband when we started dating. In his family there are just 3 kids so my family took a while to get used to😜

How are you feeling?: I still feel like some days I'm fine and other days it's all the things. I'm really emotional. Nausea comes and goes. I need to pee 8000 times a day and night.
GTKY: What was it like growing up as the youngest/oldest/middle/only child? oldest of 3 and def have eldest daughter syndrome or whatever it is called. I grew up mostly taking care of my younger siblings and being the responsible one all the time.

How are you feeling?: I hate to even put this out there and jinx it but SO much better. I was feeling really down there for a while with the constant nausea but we’ve finally turned a corner.
GTKY: What was it like growing up as the youngest/oldest/middle/only child? I was the oldest of three girls so it was quite nice having younger sisters to boss around. I did not enjoy the clothes stealing phase when we all became teenagers though.
Baby is the size of a (an): plum
Team blue/pink/green: green stillll… itching to know now
How are you feeling?: still so much better. I’ve had some issues with sleeping and dizziness, but just trying to be thankful for how far I’ve come
GTKY: What was it like growing up as the youngest/oldest/middle/only child?
I am number 3 out of 4. I have an older sister, older brother, and little brother so I got a mix of sibling relationships. My sister bossed us around a lot, my big brother was a bully unless someone tried to bully us and then he was the protector, and I considered myself to be my little brother’s personal body guard and guide in life—until he got annoying in my teen years. We’re all pretty close as adults and holidays are always fun
I CAN FEEL THE BABY MOVE! Omg I wasnt expecting it and at first I wasnt sure, but it kept
happening and yup ☺️

How are you feeling?: so much better. I feel like I got my brain back. I still wanna cry at nearly anything emotional but mentally, I feel so much better, more level and steady.
GTKY: What was it like growing up as the youngest/oldest/middle/only child? I grew up as the middle child of 5 kids. Two older sisters, two younger brothers. Andddd now I go to therapy lol I enjoyed growing up in a busy house for the most part. But as I got older, I started to realize how problematic a lot of my parent's parenting choices were. They were doing the best they could with the skills and resources they had. But I do not want to have a large family.
@kendyb77 that's awesome that you have been able to tell more people. how have the reactions been when you tell them you're having twins?
@Mamazon2014 glad everything was ok and bonus that you got to see all of that movement.
@babywiik it's funny, I thought US techs weren't really allowed to say anything. I don't know if it is because I have seen mine so much because of my "high risk" pregnancies that she is just comfortable enough with me or if my doctor just doesn't care if she says anything. She did put a little "warning" on what she said though. But I also saw what she saw before she said anything so it was kinda the same situation as you lol
@bass04 I feel the same way about jinxing it. Every time I have said I'm starting to feel better the next day I have a really bad day. My husband was asking me last night how I was feeling and I hesitated but said "ok for the most part". Today I'm just waiting.... lol
@kmtz89 that's awesome!! I felt the same way. I wasn't really sure but it happened a few times. It isn't very consistent yet but it's amazing when it does happen.
Funny story, actually. I grew up as the oldest child because my biological parents split up and I stayed with my mother. I am my mother's oldest, but my father's youngest. I didn't have my father or my older siblings growing up, so I'm what is considered a 'functioning first'
Everyone has been generally great and super excited for us, which we expected, but of course is amazing. We have gotten the occasional "I'm glad you're excited, but that would be my nightmare" type comments, which have been kind of just awkward and I'm trying not to let get to my head, because these babies truly are such a gift and a blessing, even while I know there will inevitably be challenges with 2.
One other fun thing is that we told our immediate families pretty soon after we found out we were pregnant, so it was really special to get to tack on our little update that actually we're expecting TWO babies a month or so later.

How are you feeling?: Ok! I think my fatigue is lifting, but it depends a LOT on how well I sleep. My acid reflux is still the worst symptom, along with really annoying congestion, but Pepcid has helped immensely.
GTKY: What was it like growing up as the youngest/oldest/middle/only child? I'm the older to my younger sister. I'm very stereotypically eldest child, and I remember feeling very protective of her, but she was also annoying and I had a hard time sharing my space! We weren't in school together after elementary because of our age gap (4 years) and we weren't really friends until we were both out of college, but now we're close and I'm so glad I have her. I love the idea of having two kids myself, but I also know enough people who have difficult/bad relationships with their siblings, so a supportive relationship isn't a guarantee... and I'm also not sure I want to have more than one just because I'll be 39 when the baby comes and do I really want to be pregnant in my early 40s???
Baby is the size of a (an): Lime!
Team blue/pink/green: Still green! Waiting on NIPT results!
How are you feeling?: Have a pretty vicious migraine today but I’m feeling like I’m coming out of the 1st trimester fog kinda.
GTKY: What was it like growing up as the youngest/oldest/middle/only child? I’m an eldest daughter & have 1 younger brother. It definitely molded who I am today (type A control freak 🙃😂) but I enjoyed it for the most part!
7/11 - This will be first ultrasound with at the OB office, and I'm so nervous about it since I'll be going alone since my husband couldn't get time off from work for it.
7/17 - I have a 3 hr glucose test scheduled at 8AM and my actual followup appointment with my OB in the afternoon to cover the ultrasound and my other blood test results from the end of June.
I'm feeling a little anxious. My OB gave me orders to get a 1 hr glucose test done when I first met her last month. My dad is a diabetic, and my A1C back in April was 5.9 right before I got pregnant. I failed the test, so I had to schedule the 3 hr test at a lab. I'm hoping I'll pass since I've been trying to improve my diet regardless for the baby. It's been a little tough dealing with a low appetite and some bouts of nausea while trying to make sure I hit my calories and things.
Rave - Finding out the gender of our baby has been so exciting and made things so much more real for me. We're keeping it a secret for now, and I'm dying to think of a fun way to tell both sets of parents what the gender of their first grandchild is.
Rant - The medical group/office that my OB is at is so strange to me, and I can't decide if I'm okay with it. I got pregnant while beginning infertility testing, and the fertility clinic I was getting checked at was amazing. The doctor and staff were all lovely and really spoiled us with such a positive experience. When I scheduled my first appointment with my OB, getting an appointment was a bit difficult which already made me uneasy -- plus the not so positive reviews about the medical office. Finding out that they only do ultrasounds on Mondays and Thursdays and that I would have to do a separate appointment to see the OB just made that uneasy feeling worse. We have great insurance, so the copay is low... but I can't help but feel like this was done on purpose to cut back on having a tech on hand all the time and/or being able to increase the number of patients each OB sees while also making more money off expecting parents. It just felt a bit frustrating, but I don't know how common/uncommon this kind of approach is. I do like the OB herself... it's just everything else.
How did you find/pick your OB? Depending on how the next few appointments go, I feel like I might end up having to shop around for a new one despite this one coming recommended by two of my doctors.
I'm the oldest daughter with one younger sister (4.5 year age gap). My parents were refugees and in their late 30s when I was born, so I was raised with what felt like incredibly opposing cultural viewpoints at times. Looking back on it, I really appreciate how those experiences shaped me into who I am today. I love that I tend to approach things diplomatically and try to see multiple viewpoints. It was also tough though seeing how much more lenient my parents were with my sister, but I really feel like being the oldest child was beneficial for me at the end of the day. 🥲 It's also given me a lot of things to think about in terms of how I want to raise my own child to foster a better relationship with him and make sure he feels safe to come to me about anything.
TL:DR All of this is really to say, it's all about your experience with the doctor and how you feel about how you are being treated. If you are uncomfortable, it doesn't hurt to try and find someone else and you can always switch back if you don't find someone you like better.
