I know most of us are just realizing we’re pregnant but names are a special interest of mine and I’m dying to know y’all’s lists! I know some of you have been collecting names. I’ll post mine below!
Our list is heavily Eastern inspired as dad is Chinese/Cambodian. Before we make an official name choice, his mother will give our child a Chinese name (this is something we both want).
Both of my children end with an A, which was accidental and I usually hate sibling name trends but damn, if it hasn’t suckered me into liking the names ending in A more.
Jude is top on my boy list. It is absolutely my favorite boy name. It’s just such a handsome name! I love the name so much!
I currently work with kiddos with ASD and within the past year I have come across the name Jude 4 times with kiddos either on our waitlist or receiving services which leads me to believe it’s becoming too popular in our area.
It is still on our list but after thinking for 6+ years I would have a Jude, I’m leaning towards not using it.

Hi! I also work with ASD kids. I haven’t seen the name Jude at all. I wonder if it’s more of a location thing. If you’re in the US, the SSN name bank will tell you how many babies in the US were named Jude in 2022 (I don’t think 2023 would be up yet but I haven’t checked).
Are you wanting to use Jude for a boy or girl or both?
Hi! Do you teach or are you in ABA realm? It could be a location thing; we are in New England. I love it for a boy but my partner wasn’t sold on it pre-baby. He likes very classic names like Thomas and Arthur. I love classic sounding, single syllable names hence why I love Jude! I feel like it will age well from birth through adulthood.

Taught pre-K for 16 years and just started ABA this year. I’m in Florida.
Yup! We're a big fan of gender neutral names. We almost used Jude for our first but ended up going with Lennox. We decided then if we had another we would use Jude.
My husband and I have very different name preferences, but I think if it’s a boy his name will be Malcolm. If it’s a girl we’re leaning towards Marina, but we’re not as settled on that one. We have a boy, Ephraim, who we call Remy.
My husband says he likes Maverick for a boy name. I am not sure about it. I am 50/50 and I think it is because I am unsure of a middle name for it. Thoughts?

I love the name Maverick!! In fact, I loved it so much that when I didn't have plans to have another baby yet, I named our dog Maverick! If not for that I would choose it for a boy
Love it! Lots of nn options too, if you want. For a middle name, maybe think of something with 1 syllable since Maverick has 3? I think that might help with flow. So, Maverick Lee as an example.
Our DD is Norah Elizabeth and we love both her names. My family is Greek so it’s important to me to have names that are more Greek or at least translate well, Norah being in the latter category.
We think Zoe is the top contender for girls, in Greek it literally means “life” and sounds beautiful when people say it in Greek. It was off my list for so long because it was popular but now that’s died down and I’m loving it again. Other names we like are: Chloe, Rose, Lucy, Isla, Ivy. He’s open to a middle name of Athena.
We both really love Max for some reason, it’s got some Latin/Roman/Ancient Greek roots - and he actually likes Max Alexander 🥹 Alexander was my grandfather’s name
For boys, my top picks are Alexander and Theodore (call him Teddy, my mom is theodosia so it’s a nod to her). However DH hates them!
Aw I love that! Gorgeous names, Alexander is a huge family name and it’s really classic but not too popular. Zachary means sugar in Greek 🤗 and Nicholas was a top one for me but it’s a no-go with a Norah (Nick and Norah, not happening lol)
@dunder_mifflin your mom’s name is so pretty! My college roommate and her sister both had Greek goddess middle names. Is that common in Greece? I just thought maybe their parents were partial to it lol.
I need a first name for the middle name Sinead. My middle name is Siobhan and I want my daughter to have a Gaelic name, too. Can't think of a first name to go with it
@leviosa563 I don’t know if this counts, but my daughter’s names is Norah and it has roots from all over, but i believe it’s also fairly Irish (which I know is different than Gaelic). Norah Sinead is cute! But I’m so biased lmao
I’m barely 9w but we have had some hardcore debates about this lol. My husband and I are both hoping for a girl, but somehow we can only come up with and agree to good boy names.
A boy would almost certainly be Joaquin, but Shaia is another contender.
For girls I love Evangeline and Saoirse. My husband really isn’t a fan of Evangeline and seems indifferent to all my other suggestions, which would be fine except he has yet to offer an alternative, so we’re at an impasse on that for now. Plenty of time, though, of course.
We mailed out the sneak peek test yesterday, to be revealed after my first appointment and u/s on 8/26, so we’ll see pretty soon!
So I’ve got my contenders: Malcolm Alexander for a boy and Aubri Synclare for a girl. And I know DH and I are going to fight about it. He was completely indifferent to names last time until trimester 3 then started coming up with a bunch of ones I hated. We ended up both contributing one name and then argued about the order. I won 😊 but no guarantee this time. I got my NIPT drawn yesterday so just waiting on results.
My DDs name is in the top 20 for popularity and I really want something a little less common this time around but I don’t know if I’ll be able to get my husband on board with any of them 🙈 my current love that isn’t super common is Clementine. Also love Daisy, Matilda, Stella, Thea and Lenore. I’ve also been obsessed with the nicknames Nellie and Winnie but not in love with any of the long versions!
@fininevermore, not sure how anyone could oppose those names! Malcolm was on my list this time around for a boy as well!

Skyler- boy
My boyfriend is dutch. And Skylar is originally a dutch name introduced to America in the 17th century, so it was best of both words! 🩷

@laj0217 - Oh I like that! I didn't think about 1 syllable names for a middle name.
