Upcoming Appointments: Anatomy scan + 20w appointment on Tuesday!
How are you feeling?: Feeling so big! And I just keep getting bigger every week, lol! It's so cool to see, but makes me a little nervous for 3rd trimester. Fitting into clothes has been really frustrating these last few weeks, but I think I'm starting to fit into maternity a lot better now and getting more used to it. Baby is moving! Still not feeling them too often at this point. I'm so eager for my husband to feel it, but we're not quite there yet.
Rants/Raves: i feel like the ball is really rolling now! Started baby classes last week for the next 5 weeks. We've been clearing out the nursery room this past weekend. We're doing a small gender reveal thing on Saturday just with our families, I ordered a beautiful custom cake! Going to daycare tours this week and next!
I'm feeling really distracted most of the time. I'll walk into rooms and forget why I'm there. Go to grab something like water, medication, ect and end up doing different tasks, finally sitting down and realizing I forgot to get the things I got up for. 🙄😂 It's really the added load of having too much on my mind right now plus trying to constantly take care of all of the added physical things for pregnancy. But it's getting a little exhausting!
Questions: None!
GTKY: What are some names you cannot use for whatever reason? Last names as first names! My husband has a really classic last name that has become popular to use as a first. I don't think I would have trended that way for a first name regardless, but there are a lot of name suggestions out there that lean that way.
Upcoming Appointments: 16w next week (need to book that one.... whoops!)
How are you feeling?: Pretty good. My belly feels so much bigger every week. I'm starting to get the round ligament pain when I stand up too fast (chasing toddler) and when I cough (if I don't bend a little to reduce the strain).
Rants: I'm so ready to start on the nursery, but we have quite a bit of house shuffling to do first, so the 9 yo can move downstairs and the next baby can be upstairs next to us. I need to clear out all my extra clothes and decorations from the spare bedroom. It has the only walk-in closet in our house and I've been putting random items in there for years when I don't feel like getting a tote or making space in the garage. I'm talking dressers that need TLC, autumn decorations, christmas wrapping, books that can't be on their low bookshelf homes until the toddler/babies are through the ripping stage. We need to install the cabinets we picked up for the laundry room so the decorations can go into them. I want to build a bookshelf high up across one wall in my bedroom for the books I want to keep - I already pared way down last year to just the books I read or actively have on my to read list. AND we need to build in the cupboard we framed out when we took out the chimney to install a laundry chute, so I can get all the sheets and blankets out of my bedroom closet to make room for my clothes. Then we can start replacing carpet downstairs (has super low pile maroon carpet currently) and painting walls in both bedrooms. Once the nursery is all up to snuff, I can get the newborn stuff out of Zig's room. Last time we were in the middle of a remodel when I got pregnant. We stripped everything down to replace wiring, insulation, ceiling and all sheetrock. We had no kitchen appliances (sink, fridge, stove, microwave) for a month in August, and we got carpet in the house two weeks before the baby arrived at the end of September. I'd really like to have this shuffle complete before the 9th inning this time.
Raves: I'm reading Atomic Habits by James Clear for the 3rd time, and every time I love it more. The information is so actionable and with each cycle of learning I get something new out of it. I think the big hitter this time will be how we choose our identity to encourage and inform our choices.
Questions: not today
GTKY: what are some names you cannot use for whatever reason? Juniper and Charlotte are on my sisters' baby lists, so they're off limits. My hairdresser suggested Sutton, but I just can't get on board with it. Non-issue right now, because we're having another boy.
How are you feeling?: Physically pretty good - though I definitely have started being uncomfortable sleeping and get tired if I try to do too much. Mentally/emotionally - the fact that it is 2024 + realizing how close I am to the halfway mark has me stressing about how soon this baby will be here.
Rants/Raves:
Rant - I've felt the baby move a couple of times, but not very often at all (like weeks in between). I'm definitely at the stage where I'm largely feeling okay so I'm just constantly nervous that something is going wrong and I won't know. I'm ready to feel this baby move more!
Rave - being anxious about how quickly this baby will be here helped me get some things moving that I feel good about. My husband finally reached out to our contractor last week - I feel like we have a good sense of what we want/need to get done and priorities, so now just waiting for an estimate of cost and when they can start. Hopefully that will get started soon! And I made a prenatal lactation appointment for April (so far away, but I feel good having it on my calendar) and I found a childbirth refresher class I plan to take probably in April as well (I didn't think I needed to do the whole thing again but wanted things to be a bit fresher in my mind than they currently are).
Questions: None right now!
GTKY: what are some names you cannot use for whatever reason? There are so many - some because of various people I've known, but we've come up with a category called "the Topanga problem" - my husband really likes the name Topanga and I just associate it SO much with Topanga from Boy Meets World and everyone else our age that we've mentioned it to does too. There are many other names that fall in "the Topanga problem" category too where they are just TOO associated with a certain pop culture figure - Blossom is another one that he brought up recently that I think has the Topanga problem.
@littlemarshmallow I'm sorry your son cries when you drop him off - that must be so hard! Also learning your last name is Marsh brings new understanding and enjoyment of your username
@stress_engine Pregnancy brain is a real struggle - I'm so with you on this!
@maple1422 We also have so much shifting to do once we get the housework done that we need to - I 100% feel you on the stress of this. Also, Sutton was on our second tier list last time (our short list before we narrowed it to just two names) and I still like it, but don't think I will ever choose it because there's something I don't like about saying it out loud (weird, I know).
@littlemarshmallow I’m sorry your little one is having trouble with the daycare transition. It happened with both of my kids too and it’s such an heartbreaker. I hope it gets better soon.
@stress_engine I relate to that distracted feeling. It’s like I have 10 open browser tabs in my brain at all times 😂
Upcoming Appointments: Level 2 ultrasound and MFM a week from Friday!
How are you feeling?: Huge and a little overwhelmed. The reality of the situation is starting to sink in and there is a lot to do!
Rants/Raves: I think I took on a bit too much for January not quite realizing how much pregnancy is altering my productivity. I have 2 big work projects this month, an 8 year old’s birthday party to plan, and I volunteered to run an after school enrichment program at the primary school. My normal self could manage this fine, but my pregnant self is tired just thinking about it all.
Questions: NATM
GTKY: what are some names you cannot use for whatever reason? A short list of names I love but we can’t use because they already belong to kids we know: Harper, Lilou, George, Fia, Hudson. Also Darcy because she stole my high school BF 😂
How are you feeling?: I am starting to feel big and my lower back is starting to hurt. Also I had some weird feelings in my lower abdominal that I cannot quite place. I am not sure if it was the baby moving but it felt like a mix between a cramp and gas, but not quite as painful. Idk it seems to be a crazy time for weird sensations/pains
Rants/Raves: Rant: I am starting to feel tired again. Not quite 1st trimester level but my energy level has def dropped.
Rave: finally got my house renovations scheduled for late January so I am feeling better about that. Also got a new desk for my husband to move his office into the TV room so we can start nursery prep in the next few weeks!
Questions: none right now
GTKY: what are some names you cannot use for whatever reason? There is a long list of names. My husband is so picky, especially with boy names. We have only come across 2 so far that he doesn’t hate.
@curlyandpreggo I love calling it the Topanga problem. I feel that way about certain book characters as well. There are some boy names I love but they are characters in books that are really popular right now and I am worried that is what a lot of people will think about
@maggiemadeit I am tired just reading that to do list! Hopefully someone can help with the tasks!
@littlemarshmallow love learning that your last name is Marsh! I love your UN and feel like I know you now!
@maggiemadeit eek on those commitments! Good luck and be nicer to yourself in Feb!
@curlyandpreggo the Topanga problem 😂. I have never heard of anyone named Topanga besides Cory's girlfriend. That show was my jam- TGIF. I'm with you on the can't use it!
How are you feeling?: excellent- hopefully I don't jinx myself
Rants/Raves: Rant- not use to the lack of appts and USs with a singleton pregnancy. Last time I had SO many. By the time I have my second I would have had 7 last pregnancy!
Rave- happy to have heard The heartbeat last week and am feeling movement occasionally but not yet regularly.
Questions: no today.
GTKY: what are some names you cannot use for whatever reason? I have a million cousins who are all older than me ( some are now grandparents) so a lot of names have been used up in my family . I have always loved Ella ( my maternal grandmother was Eleanor and Ella for short) but a cousin on my dads side used Ella's for his daughter. Also love Grady but also used!
Upcoming Appointments: Anatomy scan on January 22nd!
How are you feeling?: Always anxious! My hips have been KILLING me… like a sore and burning pain. Insomnia is setting in too.
Rants/Raves: We had a private scan to see little man on Sunday. He was comfy cozy next to my bladder with a great heartbeat! I am getting over some sort of cold (negative for COVID and FLU) and have a lingering cough.
Questions: Anyone having consistent flutters? I felt them twice at 15 and 16 weeks and haven’t really felt them since. It drives me crazy!
GTKY: what are some names you cannot use for whatever reason? Scarlett is what we named the baby we lost when we found out she was a girl so that one will be forever taken by my angel! 🩷 We have 2 Grayson’s in the family so I’m staying away from that one.
Upcoming Appointments: sitting in lobby right now 😅
How are you feeling?: tired and sore
Rants/Raves: rant and a rave. I am going to a work conference and taking the family and we are making a trip to Disney world. First time for a girls and will be a surprise. But I am dreading a 12hr ride.
Questions:
GTKY: what are some names you cannot use for whatever reason? So many names. I know too many people with lots of different names. I am super picky and we don’t like common names but also nothing too strange either.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good, had some nausea and headaches last week
Rants/Raves: Rave: Exercise feels great right now.
Questions: Do you feel round ligament pain in your lower belly? I've had some pain there when getting up from the couch or bed.
GTKY: what are some names you cannot use for whatever reason? Our last name ends with -on, and I don't like the way any names that end with an N sound with it.

@saltedcaramel518 I feel my round ligament pain kind of on the sides in my lower belly (kind of where I would think of my uterus as being). Getting up is definitely one of the times I feel it, so makes sense that that's what it would be!
