Re: Pregnancy Check In - Week of 12/18
not sleeping great because of my hands constantly tingling/throbbing and they’re saying that’s affecting my fasting numbers for GD but no one has bothered dealing with the carpal tunnel pain for the last 2 months so I’m feeling like a Debbie downer.
GTKY: Are you and your partner on the same page in terms of parenting style? In what ways do you differ? We’re usually on the same page parenting but are also pretty free range with our kids.

GTKY: Are you and your partner on the same page in terms of parenting style? In what ways do you differ?
Pretty much same page! Which I found surprising but not really. We talked a lot about parenting styles before having a kid. Im sure it will vary as the kids get older though
GTKY: Are you and your partner on the same page in terms of parenting style? In what ways do you differ? We've been at this a while so we've worked through most of it. We differ in that I do far more of the routine daily care and management, but all in all nothing major.
Other than that I'm feeling pretty good!
GTKY: Are you and your partner on the same page in terms of parenting style? In what ways do you differ? We're pretty much on the same page, although he's on the spectrum and can get really rigid about things, while I'm more easy going. Like I am more ok with kids jumping/loud/dirty/messy. I'm more in tune with gentle parenting, and he's more stuck on time outs and punishments. But he often has more patience than I do, and I have a shorter temper.

Sore! My hips and lower back are achy and those pesky charlie horses keep waking up at night. I forget who said to put your foot on the floor when they happen, but thank you from the bottom of my heart, because it's the only way I can get them to stop.
Rant for life never stopping- DH's grandmother is not doing well, in and out of the hospital (back in as of this morning) and I can see it weighing on his heart. She's the last living grandparent on either of our sides, and I know how much it's going to break his heart if she passes before the little one arrives. We keep trying to visit, but she's in pain and declined having us visit over this past weekend, but he really wants to see her before the holidays in the event that she doesn't make it to next year. It's just a rough time and hard to navigate what's best to do right now.
GTKY: Are you and your partner on the same page in terms of parenting style? In what ways do you differ?
I'm definitely the better communicator, and have more patience, which thankfully has rubbed off on my husband throughout our relationship. We both came from impatient/angry parents, but I've had more therapy over the course of my life to have developed more coping mechanisms. But what we're both on the same page about is breaking the cycles of our parents and being more understanding towards our children and accountable for our behaviors.
GTKY: Are you and your partner on the same page in terms of parenting style? In what ways do you differ? We’re pretty close on style in terms of approach and goals. Where we differ, I feel like it balances well. I have more patience, he has a higher risk tolerance for sure.
@hedgepig sorry about the GD diagnosis, and the weekly appointments! So much driving!
GTKY: Are you and your partner on the same page in terms of parenting style? In what ways do you differ? We are on the same page for the most part. Right now it's hard with my toddler because she only wants me and nothing at all to do with dad so I feel like I'm doing all the parenting and he feels sad he's not getting to do any. We got married at 30 and I had a previous marriage so we definitely talked about every parenting thing/important life decision we could think of very early in our relationship so it was nice to know going in we were on the same page for most things. What's more awesome is we're on the same page with my MIL who watches our daughter 4 days a week while we work. She's the best and I'm very grateful for her and her willingness to adapt to our parenting style.

@cioccolata16 re:hiccups- both my other babies had them constantly in late 2nd tri up until delivery. It wasnt until this pregnancy that I read you should notify your provider if you notice frequent hiccups. Still not sure what the reasoning is. But just here to say that I have been feeling them daily with this baby too and think little of it. They're typically just a by-product if baby practicing breathing.

Similar in so many ways. I think any couple does go through a few growing pains with their first child, figuring everything out. We also had a baby just a year into our relationship so we grew and learned together. Realizing how our own childhoods affected us individually has been the biggest step in helping us break cycles. We are (sometimes too) lenient and gentle but are raising our kids with the love and attention we wish we had as babies. Being parents is the best.
