Upcoming appointments: Weekly appointment with the doctor I requested on Friday, 12/1.
How are you feeling? Ready for her to be here! Maybe not in terms of having stuff ready in the house (and we still need to put the car seats in) but physically I'm ready. My heartburn was so bad yesterday that I threw up, every time I sit down I feel like any food I ate is just pushing right back up into my chest, and I miss sleeping on my back so much.
Raves/Rants: I'm feeling a bit better after my appointment last week. This doctor was definitely a lot more open to induction over c-section and said that based on my exam that my body didn't really show any signs of not being able to get her out even if she is big. They still recommend that I see my regular doctor, but her earliest availability is Friday, so I'll be 38w6d and they want to induce at 39w, so they went from "make a decision now" to "nah, the day before is just fine!" I do also think I lost my mucus plug (or at least part of it) this weekend, so maybe she'll just decide to come on her own...who knows!
Questions: How are all the new mamas doing?! Congrats to you all!
Upcoming appointments: last non-stress today and C-section scheduled for Thursday 🙌
How are you feeling: fully cooked. Took my son to see a movie and when I got up, my feet and legs were swollen like tree trunks. Took all day to get them back to a better place.
Raves/rants: got into a big fight with hubs yesterday. He does not remember newborn life at all. Was trying to tell me he was going to poker night a week after the baby was born. I told him I would still need his help and he said "well I'm be around all day. This is at night." Ummm A week old baby ain't sleeping through the night my dude! I'm gonna need help at night too 🙄🙄. Later on he did admit that he doesn't remember much about having an infant and maybe his expectations are too much.
Congratulations to all the new moms! I hope you are all healing well and getting the support you need.
@dmcg17 I'm so sorry to hear about the heartburn. I've had a couple incidences like that and it's truly miserable. We are so close to the end!

How are you feeling? Pretty good. Low energy and LOTS of heartburn and acid reflux. Twice this week at night I rolled from my left side to my right side and felt stomach acid pour into my mouth 🤢. So gross!! Feeling more pressure down in my pelvic area as well.
Raves/Rants: My husband as sweet as he is, he is driving me crazy lol. He hasn't been feeling well with stomach issues and has been working long hours leading up to winter shutdown. So I feel bad for even complaining. But I've been working so hard trying to get things done around here for the baby and he just wants to sit on the couch. He has good intentions but nothing gets completed. The baby will be here in 2 weeks!!
It's exciting seeing all the announcements coming in. I also hope everyone's recovering is going well! All the regulars on here feel like friends now. 🥰
Baby is the size of a(n): Bowling pin (but measuring in the 97th percentile… so likely larger!)
Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 💚
Upcoming appointments: Check up tomorrow and C section scheduled for Thursday! 🎉
How are you feeling? Anxious, excited, swollen, tired, nervous…. Allllll the things! But mostly ready to meet this little babe!
Raves/Rants: I am SO ready to sleep in my bed comfortably again!! Between the heartburn and the swelling, I’ve been sleeping in a recliner most nights. Also, a bit nervous about visitors and enforcing boundaries when husband and I are in such a vulnerable state.
Hope you’re all doing great… congratulations to all of the new mamas, and good luck to everyone else in the home stretch!!!!! 💕
Upcoming appointments: last ultrasound and group b testing tomorrow.
How are you feeling? Tired! As usual insomnia but it’s gotten worse - usually up for at least 2 1/2 hours every night. Luckily off work for the next 4 weeks before my due date so I can nap whenever I want! Otherwise feeling good.
Raves/Rants: Raves - lighting, wallpaper accent wall and paint is finally all done in the nursery! Assembled the crib and dresser over the weekend so feeling like I accomplished something. Rants - found out from my SIL that my MIL is planning to visit/stay at my house early/mid January (didn’t even confirm with if its OK) after me and my husband told them multiple times not to fly out and visit until after January. This has been an ongoing rant since they’re not respecting boundaries, as a result I’m planning to stay cooped up in the bedroom with the baby for however long they plan on staying. (the in laws are planning to be in Orange County, Hollywood, New Years Party, Santa Barbara, San Francisco and THEN visit our house last. Paranoid for baby’s health and catching something during cold/flu/RSV season).
Questions: none at the moment
Congratulations on all the new moms and very excited for those that have upcoming csections this week!!! ❤️
Upcoming appointments: Thursday is a growth ultrasound and strep b test.
How are you feeling? Large and uncomfortable. Insomnia hits pretty bad at about 2am every night. I’m hoping this little one makes an early appearance 😂 I started raspberry leaf tea and getting my dates in. Hopefully bouncing on the yoga ball will help out the process.
Raves/Rants: went to nc state/unc college football game on Saturday and we were there until midnight so I’m totally in recovery still from the late night and cold weather! But I’ve decided if I don’t go early my last work day will be 12/22 so I’m counting down days! Haven’t taken time off since May trying to save PTO for the little ones arrival.
How are you feeling? Uncomfortable. So much lower discomfort. I need to try an Epsom salt bath but have dust out my big tub to do so and I'm too pregnant to do it 🙃 braxton hicks contractions were crazy today right after my checkup and my groin/hip joint hurts bad on one side. I keep bringing up the pain at my appointments and they keep acting like it's just lar for the course. I'm wondering if he's dropped bc there's a lot of pressure down there and I'm not as out of breath as normal, but I'm still having bad acid reflux ( @nerakh246 I'm feeling you there!) Had to sleep a little elevated last night bc mine kept trying to come up. With my last baby, I didn't get this uncomfortable until shortly before he came (a week early) so I'm wondering/hoping this guy comes early, too. Seeing the announcements of babies makes it so much more real!
Raves/Rants: rant: it may be getting colder but I'm staying hot! I need to stop dressing for the weather outside when I go places bc then the heat being on make me so uncomfortable. Idk if any of you are like me, but I've been having a lot of sweating in my crotch area and the creases of my legs. So the other day I was getting ready for my maternity photos, blow drying my hair and I wasn't dressed. Started feeling a trickle go down my leg and thought my water was breaking. Nope. Just sweat dripping down my leg. I'm ready for more regulated body temp 😩
Questions: Has anyone looked into or thinking of delayed cord clamping? It's something I didn't do last time that I might try this time. I'll bring it up to my Ob next week.
@mayghen18 I'm in NC too! Hope you were pulling for NC State!
@ahrob135 that in law situation sounds so stressful. I'm so sorry you're dealing with that! Sounds like putting yourself in your room is the best way to get the message across that just bc they're there, doesn't mean they can disrespect yalls wishes and bring who knows what around the baby.
@makenzie_e good luck with your c section! I can't wait to find out what your surprise baby is! I loved keeping my last pregnancy a surprise 😊
@makenzie_e and @clt2pwm11 I'll be thinking of you both on Thursday! Can't wait to see your announcements! 🥰
@ahrob135 Ugh, so sorry about the unexpected visitors, especially since they're doing so much travel BEFORE coming to see you. I don't blame you for wanting to stay cooped up.
@jordieburd I hear you on the heat! I am usually someone who gets cold in like 65 degree weather and lately I've been so hot and sweaty (my family thinks it's hilarious). On Thanksgiving I usually get dressed up with a cute sweater or something and do hair/makeup; this year I just went t-shirt and jeans with a braid because it was so hot in the house with the oven and people...🥵
EDD/Weeks + days: Dec. 28th / 36 weeks on Thursday
Baby is the size of a(n): Bag of Bugles
Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: Blue!
Upcoming appointments: Regular checkup on Nov. 30th then weekly appointments start!
How are you feeling? Generally okay -- just the usual back and leg aches, shortness of breath, minor swelling in my hands, some headaches, congestion, acid reflux.
Raves/Rants: We got a ton of baby stuff done over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend! I feel like I'm in a much better place, but there is still more to do. It seems never-ending haha. I still have to pack hospital bag, setup postpartum cart, wash/sterilize bottles and pacifiers, and do a few more final touches. I'm hoping to continue to get stuff done this weekend. My husband and I are staying put at home until baby arrives. I cannot believe he can come any day now, and I am soooo ready to meet and snuggle him. It's so exciting to see all of the baby announcements! Congratulations mamas! Praying for a smooth and easy delivery for mamas having babies this week!!
Questions: Are you all getting your cervix checked at your appointments now? My doctor said that it is my choice, and I'm not sure if I should. I'm trying to avoid pain at all cost lol. Also, is anyone else experiencing breast soreness? My boobs have been sore this entire pregnancy but especially now. Any good remedies?
@dmcg17 Keep us posted on what you decide! You'll make the best decision for you and your sweet baby!
@jordieburd I can completely relate to being hot all the time! I have been hot this entire pregnancy to the point where I have to carry a fan with me everywhere I go. I feel like I could wear a summer dress right now in these cold temps. My poor husband has to sleep in the room with the AC blasting and fan on high lol! He has been such a trooper!
@foreverhughes4123 Yes, they've checked my cervix at my last 2 appointments - they said it's routine starting at 37 weeks even though they started at 36 weeks with my Group B test. For me it wasn't painful at all; it was just a quick check and at my last appointment she said I was 1cm dilated, so I'm curious to see if we've made any progress by my Friday appointment.
@jordieburd definitely pulled for state. I didn’t go to school here but my husband and most of my NC friends went to state also I am definitely delayed cord cutting. It was a big part of my research and the birthing center I’m delivering at its routine now. I really enjoyed reading “expecting better” by Emily oster she really goes through all sorts of research I would highly recommend to anyone who is pregnant! She also has another called crib sheets which is after baby is born!
Upcoming appointments: 37 week appt and Group B testing 11/30
How are you feeling? I assume baby has dropped, constant pelvic pressure while walking and standing at work. Definitely not the most fun of experiences! I hope this means my cervix is starting to thin out!
Raves/Rants: Being tired, dealing with insomnia, and constantly having to pee is such a cruel joke on women getting ready for birth. I keep reminding myself that it’s just getting us ready for a newborn sleep schedule but what I would do for 8 hours of deep solid sleep 😴.
Questions: people that have done the group b test- how was it? I don’t know why but I feel nervous about it!
@foreverhughes4123 I will be opting out of the cervix checks, my Pap smear was super uncomfortable and I worry if I’m not progressing each week it will be more discouraging than not knowing. It is definitely personal preference though!! My SIL got them for all 3 of her girls and never had an issue.
@jordieburd I am in Iowa where it was 10F here outside today and I keep sticking my head outside to cool down- cannot believe how hot I am pregnant! Also, my hospital also has delayed cord clamping as standard practice, I confirmed with my OB last week after reading the benefits.
@benderisgreat12-23 had my group b test today - it was super quick and just a swab. Nothing to be worried about! My OB said if I test positive they would give penicillin during labor; no further action if negative.
Upcoming appointments: Regular check up on Friday. I've been feeling a lot going on in my pelvis and I'm curious to know whether things have actually started rolling!
How are you feeling? Stretched to the max. My belly button is completely flat and the skin is so taut and painful! Like others, the acid reflux has become constant and comes up into my mouth when I lay down. Ew. Ouch. Mentally I'm doing a lot better, though. After a LOT of discussion with the OB, reading and thought I have decided to proceed with a vaginal birth and feel at peace with my decision.
Raves/Rants: I have submitted my Master's thesis!!! Such a weight off my shoulders. I also went to re-wash the baby bedding and discovered everything still smells completely fresh. So all I had to do was assemble the bassinet and now we are.... officially baby ready! My last scheduled (daily life) appointment is on the 6th. After that I will be 38 weeks and READY. Originally I was hoping to have a week to just relax but I have changed my mind. Get this baby OUT.
@ahrob135 I'm so sorry you're dealing with this, too. My parents interpreted "you may visit for one week" to mean "13 days" and booked flights without checking with us. Unfortunately my husband has already claimed "working in his office" to avoid my mother. She isn't allowed to be alone with our kids, so I will be taking care of a newborn, 2 kids on holiday and her. I know I am a total hypocrite, but if there is ANY way you can shut your ILs down, do it now. It never stops.
On a happier note, YAY! to all the new mamas and GOOD LUCK! to those meeting their precious babies tomorrow
@benderisgreat12-23 I agree with @ahrob135; Group B test was just a quick swab and you're done, nothing to worry about at all.
@booksandicecream Woo - congrats on submitting your thesis and finishing the baby set-up! I bet you must feel amazing now!! Also, good luck with your parents; it sounds like everyone is having boundary challenges...
Upcoming appointments: Monday dec 4th (38), I’m group B strep positive so I’ll need abx during labor to protect baby.
How are you feeling? Anxious excited, and impatient. Physically no discomfit at this time. Still weight training 3 days a week and walking 5 miles a day.
Raves/Rants: none that I can think of.
Questions: has anyone noticed any early labor signs around the 37.5 week mark or already? (Vaginal discharge changes, lightening, mucus plug, blood show, increased Braxton Hicks, loose stools, dilation) ? I haven’t had my midwife do a cervical check yet because I haven’t noticed any changes, and don’t want to be disappointed/discouraged if I’m still completely closed.
@ayspilks27 I am pretty sure I lost at least part of my mucus plug over the weekend (no bloody show, just mucus) and I've had some loose stools recently (didn't know that was a sign actually), but I haven't had any Braxton Hicks, contractions, or anything like that. At my last appointment on 11/21 (I was 37w3d) my doctor said I was about 1cm dilated and I go for another check-up tomorrow, so we'll see where we're at!
@dmcg17 please keep us updated on your progress!! I hope you have some more dilation and are closer to meeting your baby ! Yess the loose stools are associated with an increased in prostaglandins (same thing happens around our cycle, some people get the loose stools during their period). I am unsure if I lost a small piece this morning of if it was just increased discharge, it was not the big glob of mucus (I googled pictures lol.) Im still so nervous to let my doctor check me! But still have time to decide before our appointment.
@ayspilks27 I've had crampiness and minor contractions near my cervix since Monday (when I was 36+4). That has kept up in the mornings and evenings (goes away when I'm active). I got checked today and my cervix is very soft and has moved to the forward position, but not effaced or dilated, which is exactly normal for 37+1. OB said the crampiness is most likely the cervix ripening, so that should keep up. I personally prefer having all of the information so I definitely wanted to be checked, but don't feel pressured if you don't want to. It's not like you're going to "miss" the signs of actual labor when it happens
EDD/Weeks + days: graduated I know I graduated, but figured one last entry....
Baby is the size of a(n): little baby, 6.5 lbs
Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 💙💙💙💙
Upcoming appointments: pediatrician weekly check up
How are you feeling? Tired, grateful, happy, recovering from major blood loss and episiotomy.
Raves/Rants: baby was tongue tied for the first week of his life so latching wouldn't happen, which really felt horrible. But we've fixed it and now he's trying a lot more and we're somewhat successful! Feels amazing! Rave: I can't believe I'm done with heartburn and clumsiness and feeling like I've been put under! I've got the cutest little baby boy with wonderful inquisitive eyes that I can stare at all day! He's a cuddlebug and getting a little spoiled on that front, but we love him to the moon and back and I'd do anything for him. I'll need a bit of a break before the next one though lol!!
Rant: I thought I wouldn't need boundaries, what with my in laws states away and my parents busy with my other nephews. I was right on the second front, they have been very helpful, but only when I've asked them to, which is nice. On the first point... My in laws traveled in, are staying down the block, which I thought was separation enough, but SIT IN MY HOUSE ALL DAY. my apartment is small, so that means I feel pretty much jailed in my bedroom because I have no energy to be socialable just to get something to eat from my fridge or use the bathroom or just SIT ON MY COUCH. They really are helping in terms of cooking and sometimes taking care of baby, but since they're just sitting around for the majority of the time (they come at 10am to eat, after my husband and I cry through the night shift, and only leave close to midnight), and I need to get dressed every time I leave my room... I'm going out of my mind. I ask my husband to bring me everything, to clean my pump, bring me food, etc. Not to freak anyone out, but SET AND HOLD YOUR BOUNDARIES. it's not ok to be recovering physically and emotionally while not feeling comfortable in your own house.
I don't want to end on a bad note, so I'll just say that y'all can do this, we're all so strong, birthing and taking care of a little baby is a lot of physical and mental work, and we're superheros for doing it, surviving it, and moving on with life! Best of luck to everyone here, it's been awesome going through this journey with all of you. Thanks for being so supportive through the hard parts and offering advice! I'll miss this!!
@chelleylin Yay - thank you for one last check-in! So glad your little boy is doing well - your post made me even more excited to meet our little girl soon (and can't wait to get rid of this heartburn too!). So sorry to hear you aren't comfortable in your own home with your in-laws there. Are there any good daytime activities near you that you could send them to or ask them to get groceries so you can have some time alone? How long are they around for?
@chelleylin Hardcore mix of "love" and "hate" reactions to your post. Thank you for sharing! I just love, love, love that you stayed SO strong during such a challenging pregnancy and have now managed to conquer serious recovery and nursing challenges, all with a positive attitude. Your little boy is so lucky to have you I am also so sorry about your ILs. Because I GET IT. I had a good relationship with mine until I had my first baby. Postpartum hormones are no joke and what moms and newborns need is PEACE and REST with 1-2 people MOM trusts. Newborns don't need grandma unless mom needs grandma, period. Sending you patience to get through this time and alllll the peaceful thoughts for after.
Update: Had my visit with my regular doctor today and she had no concerns about induction at all, so we are officially scheduled for Monday! She checked and said I'm 1.5cm dilated and about 80-85% thinned, so I'm in a good spot. I'm also super excited because she's the one scheduled for Monday, so I'm really happy to have the doctor I'm most comfortable with being the one there for my induction/labor process.
@dmcg17 that is so great about the induction and knowing you will have a doctor you trust! That must be such a load off!
@chelleylin I am so sorry to hear about the boundary issues- hope your husband can help shove them out the door periodically. You need to be able to rest and heal up!

@chelleylin I am so sorry to hear about the boundary issues- hope your husband can help shove them out the door periodically. You need to be able to rest and heal up!
