    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 💚

Upcoming appointments: Thursday is a growth ultrasound and strep b test.

How are you feeling? Large and uncomfortable. Insomnia hits pretty bad at about 2am every night. I’m hoping this little one makes an early appearance 😂 I started raspberry leaf tea and getting my dates in. Hopefully bouncing on the yoga ball will help out the process.

Raves/Rants: went to nc state/unc college football game on Saturday and we were there until midnight so I’m totally in recovery still from the late night and cold weather! But I’ve decided if I don’t go early my last work day will be 12/22 so I’m counting down days! Haven’t taken time off since May trying to save PTO for the little ones arrival.

    Questions:
  • @makenzie_e and @clt2pwm11 I'll be thinking of you both on Thursday! Can't wait to see your announcements! 🥰

@ahrob135 Ugh, so sorry about the unexpected visitors, especially since they're doing so much travel BEFORE coming to see you. I don't blame you for wanting to stay cooped up.

@jordieburd I hear you on the heat! I am usually someone who gets cold in like 65 degree weather and lately I've been so hot and sweaty (my family thinks it's hilarious). On Thanksgiving I usually get dressed up with a cute sweater or something and do hair/makeup; this year I just went t-shirt and jeans with a braid because it was so hot in the house with the oven and people...🥵
  • EDD/Weeks + days: Dec. 28th / 36 weeks on Thursday

Baby is the size of a(n): Bag of Bugles

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: Blue!

Upcoming appointments: Regular checkup on Nov. 30th then weekly appointments start!

How are you feeling? Generally okay -- just the usual back and leg aches, shortness of breath, minor swelling in my hands, some headaches, congestion, acid reflux.

Raves/Rants: We got a ton of baby stuff done over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend! I feel like I'm in a much better place, but there is still more to do. It seems never-ending haha. I still have to pack hospital bag, setup postpartum cart, wash/sterilize bottles and pacifiers, and do a few more final touches. I'm hoping to continue to get stuff done this weekend. My husband and I are staying put at home until baby arrives. I cannot believe he can come any day now, and I am soooo ready to meet and snuggle him. It's so exciting to see all of the baby announcements! Congratulations mamas! Praying for a smooth and easy delivery for mamas having babies this week!!  <3

Questions: Are you all getting your cervix checked at your appointments now? My doctor said that it is my choice, and I'm not sure if I should. I'm trying to avoid pain at all cost lol. Also, is anyone else experiencing breast soreness? My boobs have been sore this entire pregnancy but especially now. Any good remedies?

@dmcg17 Keep us posted on what you decide! You'll make the best decision for you and your sweet baby!

    @mayghen18 @jordieburd I'm in NC too!!

@jordieburd I can completely relate to being hot all the time! I have been hot this entire pregnancy to the point where I have to carry a fan with me everywhere I go. I feel like I could wear a summer dress right now in these cold temps. My poor husband has to sleep in the room with the AC blasting and fan on high lol! He has been such a trooper!

  • @foreverhughes4123 Yes, they've checked my cervix at my last 2 appointments - they said it's routine starting at 37 weeks even though they started at 36 weeks with my Group B test.  For me it wasn't painful at all; it was just a quick check and at my last appointment she said I was 1cm dilated, so I'm curious to see if we've made any progress by my Friday appointment.
  • @jordieburd definitely pulled for state. I didn’t go to school here but my husband and most of my NC friends went to state :) also I am definitely delayed cord cutting. It was a big part of my research and the birthing center I’m delivering at its routine now.
I really enjoyed reading “expecting better” by Emily oster she really goes through all sorts of research I would highly recommend to anyone who is pregnant! She also has another called crib sheets which is after baby is born!

Baby is the size of a(n): Papaya

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 💙

Upcoming appointments: 37 week appt and Group B testing 11/30

How are you feeling? I assume baby has dropped, constant pelvic pressure while walking and standing at work.  Definitely not the most fun of experiences! I hope this means my cervix is starting to thin out!

Raves/Rants: Being tired, dealing with insomnia, and constantly having to pee is such a cruel joke on women getting ready for birth.  I keep reminding myself that it’s just getting us ready for a newborn sleep schedule but what I would do for 8 hours of deep solid sleep 😴.

Questions: people that have done the group b test- how was it? I don’t know why but I feel nervous about it!

@foreverhughes4123 I will be opting out of the cervix checks, my Pap smear was super uncomfortable and I worry if I’m not progressing each week it will be more discouraging than not knowing.  It is definitely personal preference though!! My SIL got them for all 3 of her girls and never had an issue.

@jordieburd I am in Iowa where it was 10F here outside today and I keep sticking my head outside to cool down- cannot believe how hot I am pregnant!  Also, my hospital also has delayed cord clamping as standard practice, I confirmed with my OB last week after reading the benefits.
  • @benderisgreat12-23 had my group b test today - it was super quick and just a swab. Nothing to be worried about! My OB said if I test positive they would give penicillin during labor; no further action if negative.
  • @ahrob135 I'm so sorry you're dealing with this, too. My parents interpreted "you may visit for one week" to mean "13 days" and booked flights without checking with us. Unfortunately my husband has already claimed "working in his office" to avoid my mother. She isn't allowed to be alone with our kids, so I will be taking care of a newborn, 2 kids on holiday and her. I know I am a total hypocrite, but if there is ANY way you can shut your ILs down, do it now. It never stops.

On a happier note, YAY! to all the new mamas and GOOD LUCK! to those meeting their precious babies tomorrow <3

  • @benderisgreat12-23 I agree with @ahrob135; Group B test was just a quick swab and you're done, nothing to worry about at all.

@booksandicecream Woo - congrats on submitting your thesis and finishing the baby set-up! I bet you must feel amazing now!!  Also, good luck with your parents; it sounds like everyone is having boundary challenges...
  • EDD/Weeks + days: Dec 18, 37w 3 day

Baby is the size of a(n): ukulele

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 💙

Upcoming appointments: Monday dec 4th (38), I’m group B strep positive so I’ll need abx during labor to protect baby.

How are you feeling? Anxious excited, and impatient. Physically no discomfit at this time. Still weight training 3 days a week and walking 5 miles a day.

Raves/Rants: none that I can think of.

Questions: has anyone noticed any early labor signs around the 37.5 week mark or already? (Vaginal discharge changes, lightening, mucus plug, blood show, increased Braxton Hicks, loose stools, dilation) ? I haven’t had my midwife do a cervical check yet because I haven’t noticed any changes, and don’t want to be disappointed/discouraged if I’m still completely closed.
  • @ayspilks27 I am pretty sure I lost at least part of my mucus plug over the weekend (no bloody show, just mucus) and I've had some loose stools recently (didn't know that was a sign actually), but I haven't had any Braxton Hicks, contractions, or anything like that. At my last appointment on 11/21 (I was 37w3d) my doctor said I was about 1cm dilated and I go for another check-up tomorrow, so we'll see where we're at!
  • @dmcg17 please keep us updated on your progress!! I hope you have some more dilation and are closer to meeting your baby ! Yess the loose stools are associated with an increased in prostaglandins (same thing happens around our cycle, some people get the loose stools during their period). I am unsure if I lost a small piece this morning of if it was just increased discharge, it was not the big glob of mucus (I googled pictures lol.) Im still so nervous to let my doctor check me! But still have time to decide before our appointment.
  • @ayspilks27 I've had crampiness and minor contractions near my cervix since Monday (when I was 36+4). That has kept up in the mornings and evenings (goes away when I'm active). I got checked today and my cervix is very soft and has moved to the forward position, but not effaced or dilated, which is exactly normal for 37+1. OB said the crampiness is most likely the cervix ripening, so that should keep up. I personally prefer having all of the information so I definitely wanted to be checked, but don't feel pressured if you don't want to. It's not like you're going to "miss" the signs of actual labor when it happens ;)

  • @chelleylin Yay - thank you for one last check-in! So glad your little boy is doing well - your post made me even more excited to meet our little girl soon (and can't wait to get rid of this heartburn too!).  So sorry to hear you aren't comfortable in your own home with your in-laws there. Are there any good daytime activities near you that you could send them to or ask them to get groceries so you can have some time alone? How long are they around for?
  • @chelleylin Hardcore mix of "love" and "hate" reactions to your post. Thank you for sharing! I just love, love, love that you stayed SO strong during such a challenging pregnancy and have now managed to conquer serious recovery and nursing challenges, all with a positive attitude. Your little boy is so lucky to have you <3 I am also so sorry about your ILs. Because I GET IT. I had a good relationship with mine until I had my first baby. Postpartum hormones are no joke and what moms and newborns need is PEACE and REST with 1-2 people MOM trusts. Newborns don't need grandma unless mom needs grandma, period. Sending you patience to get through this time and alllll the peaceful thoughts for after.

  • @dmcg17 that is so great about the induction and knowing you will have a doctor you trust! That must be such a load off!

@chelleylin I am so sorry to hear about the boundary issues- hope your husband can help shove them out the door periodically. You need to be able to rest and heal up!
