  • Hi everyone! Nice to meet you. I’ve been quietly lurking and reading everyone’s posts but was anxious about posting until things got further along.

Due date: May 12, the day before my dog’s birthday. I hope she won’t feel too annoyed ha

how we found out: this is an IUI baby so we found out when the clinic called with blood test results. I was pretty surprised since I wasn’t feeling optimistic that cycle.

about me: I’m  Laura and I’m in Toronto. I’m nearly 37, first time mom. I live with my partner and my angel of a dog, Loulou. I’m big into reading, being active, being outside, and travel! Currently trying to learn German because my partner is from Germany and baby will learn German as well.

how I’m feeling: we are approaching 12 weeks and we just got good NT/NIPT results so I’m feeling a bit more relaxed and excited. My first trimester symptoms weren’t too bad (fatigue, nausea but no vomiting,
sore boobs), but the anxiety and hormones were really hard on my mental health. I’m now starting to feel a bit lighter and happy! Not gonna lie, there were some pretty low weeks in the last couple months, for sure

  • Hi all! My name is Monica

    Due date: May 4th

    How you found out:
Took a test on the day of my missed period and it came back positive!

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?)
I am 28 (turning 29), I got married to my husband this past August, after dating for almost 8 years. I love crafting and teaching. We have a cat named Bailey and dog named Chance. I teach elementary school and adore it!

How are you feeling (any symptoms, Emotionally)?
I’m excited and nervous. Most early symptoms are gone. Now, it’s really about eating and lots of sleep.
  • Hi everyone! My name's Colleen, and I'm from the Boston area but currently living in southeastern MA about a half-hour from Providence. I'm 41 and this is my first pregnancy. I too have lurked for a bit because I was way too afraid to post anything. Because of my age I've been so worried about something going wrong.

Due date: May 7, but we're having twins (!!) so I expect it to be sometime in April.

How we found out: This was our third round of IVF, so I knew within two weeks of my embryo transfer that it had been successful. Then I had a 7-week ultrasound with my IVF doctors, and that's where we found out we'd be having twins. They transferred two embryos, but only one implanted and then split, so they'll be identical.

About me: No other kids. I didn't meet my husband until I was 37 (he was 38), got married at 39, and it took till I was 41 to get pregnant. First round of IVF didn't work, second resulted in a chemical pregnancy, and now here we are at almost 13 weeks after round three was a success. We have two yellow labs, one who is 2 and the other who is 7 months. I'm an editor and work remotely full-time, which has been great during pregnancy, and I also write plays.

What I like to do/spouse/partner: My husband and I have been married for two years. I like to write, though it's hard to find time, and I take adult ballet and tap classes where I'm rediscovering my childhood love of dance.

How I've been feeling: I've been very lucky and have barely had any nausea, to the point where it worried me that something was wrong. I've had a few bad headaches that have lasted 3+ days (I get migraines, so this is nothing new, but I obviously can't take my normal prescription for them, so it's just a matter of waiting them out). I've had boob sensitivity/pain and so much exhaustion though. Every day after lunch I feel myself starting to fall asleep over my work. Emotionally, I've been so anxious the whole time. I'm trying to let myself get excited or look at baby stuff occasionally without panicking that it will all come crashing down if I do. We're doing the NT scan/NIPT on Friday, and as of Tuesday it will be one week till the first trimester is officially over, so I'm hoping for good results that will let me relax a little bit.
  • Hey y’all!

    Let's introduce ourselves here:

    Due date: 05/24/24

How you found out: My husband and I were curious if everything was ok bc we had been trying for 10 months. We did at home sperm and ovulation tests. Still no positive pregnancy.  I scheduled a consultation with a fertility clinic. They did my blood work and ya girl was pregnant already. Our Boom Baby (or Babies) !

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?)
My husband and I are a blended family being this is our second marriage. We both brought children into the marriage and this our first. I am a rep for UHC and last semester BSN nursing student.

How are you feeling (any symptoms, Emotionally)? Very nauseous and severe headaches. Emotionally drained. My previous pregnancy was easy. Barely any symptoms. ER C-section.  This pregnancy: Every OB appt is something new to discuss. My last appt. My OB saw a second gestational sac but it was empty which explains why I’m super nauseous. Dr wants to see if second baby shows at later ultrasound. Also was told I have a septate uterus. Also have subchorionic hemorrhaging. It’s been a ride. But overall we are very excited! Congratulations to all us future mothers.
  • Hi everyone!

A little late to the game here since I just got a new employer (same job but it changed ownership), so I got a new insurance plan, and they delayed activating the health benefits until 3 weeks in… then when I called the OB they wouldn’t schedule without being able to verify full insurance info. So here we are at 11 weeks and not a 1st appointment until next week…

    About me:
I’m Linda and my husband and I are expecting our first. I am 35.

Due date: May 23 (to be confirmed).

How I found out: took a pregnancy test a few days after my expected period and it was positive. We hadn’t been “actively trying” per se, but the goalie (IUD) was out of the net for several months, since we are a little older and ready now.

We have 2 dogs (retriever mix, and a yorkie) and a cat. Recently bought a Litter Robot which has been a game changer for the kitty litter box, per my husband.

Hobbies: running (though have been too nauseated to stomach it lately), Peloton (same - almost threw up after a ride the other day 🤢), hiking and travel.

Feeling really bloated. My first symptom was breast tenderness, but then the heartburn and nausea really started getting bad. Also anxious as I am an older 1st time mom and having to wait so long for that first OB appointment because of clerical/HR errors is really frustrating (because of course I’m not telling HR right now why I wanted to have my health insurance card on day 1!)

    Hi everyone!
I'm Jess, from OR, I'm 27 and this is my first baby! My husband and I are so excited but I'm also real nervous about lots of things so finding some community here is definitely very cool to me!

    Due date: May 25th

How you found out: Pregnancy test on our one-year anniversary, because I was a few days late on my period and my face was breaking out!

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job?
I'm a statistics PhD student and I have a husband and a 6yo Rhodesian Ridgeback!

Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?)
My husband and I are avid nature lovers. Basically all summer, we are climbing, hiking, river swimming, basically anything where we can get outside and enjoy the PNW. Climbing is our newest and strongest obsession, though.

How are you feeling (any symptoms, Emotionally)?
First trimester was pretty rough for me. Lower back pain, fatigue, early round ligament pain, headaches and ALL the bad nausea. I think most of that is cooling off though as the 2nd trimester is comin in hot!

Lovely to meet all of you, I hope you're all okay and enjoying your pregnancies.

  • Hello everyone! I'm Denise, I'm 33 years old, and I'm pregnant for the first time ever! My husband and I have been talking about starting a family and this year we finally took the plunge. I'm so excited to be part of the club!

    Due date: May 23rd 🎂

How you found out: My periods are very consistent, so when I noticed my symptoms were different and I didn't start my period on the expected date, I took a test. I think my 10 month old puppy knew what was up first - she was being super extra snuggly with me during the weeks before I found out!

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) I'm an artist working in games, my husband is a software engineer. We have a puppy named Hazel. I'm interested in a lot of crafts, reading, making art, and board games!

How are you feeling (any symptoms, Emotionally)? My first trimester symptoms included the entire checklist 😂 bloating, dizziness, fatigue, sore breasts, insomnia, dysgeusia, all day nausea and aversions. Now that I'm in second trimester I feel so much better! Only having bloating, headaches, some back/joint aches.

Looking forward to this exciting journey!!
  • Hi everybody! I'm Holly, I'm 35 and pregnant for the first time.

    Due date: May 11

How you found out: My husband and I decided to start trying this summer when my IUD was set to expire and removed. I was cranky and tired and figured it was PMS, but then my period didn't come and I took a test.

Tell us about yourself (other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) No other children, but my husband and I have been married for 10 years and our "practice baby" has been our rescue dog, a Great Pyrenees mix named Pippin. I like to read and I have a blog that's about a little bit of everything and nothing, although since becoming pregnant I haven't posted as much because it's been hard to keep the secret.

How are you feeling? I'm glad to be out of the first trimester, though I think I had it relatively easy. I had some nausea, but it wasn't overwhelming, and I definitely had a lot of fatigue. I'm currently fighting a cold that I think I caught over Thanksgiving, which sucks, but hopefully it passes soon.

It's nice to meet you all, I'm looking forward to learning about this journey with you all and getting advice on some things!
  • Due date: May 1st

How you found out: I had taken my IUD out a couple months earlier so knew there was a chance every month. I was participating in a golf tournament in August and knew there would be lots of drinking involved so figured I should take a test just in case even though it was a bit early. Got a very faint positive, so knew I shouldn't drink all day and it got progressively darker the next few days.

Tell us about yourself (other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner? 2 boys 5&7, this will be our first girl! We both work full time and kids are in full time school/daycare. We love anything outdoors and try to keep up with our 2 boys as is...it's exhausting but fun to see them having fun!

How are you feeling? I'll be 40 when baby is born and this being the 3rd, I'm nervous about handling it all physically and financially (we live in Seattle and it's EXPENSIVE!) but know going for #3 was the right choice for us. Really glad I'm out of the 1st Tri, it was TOUGH! Gained a ton of weight just downing carbs trying to stay awake and not vomitting through full time work then wrangling kids all night. Now the insomnia is picking up heartburn and being uncomfortable at night. Definitely ready for this to by my last time being pregnant!
  • Hello everyone! I’m Dani. I am from NJ. I’m 39 and my due date is May 25th (on my 40th birthday!!!)

    Found out:
We were trying because I had this “goal” of having my 2nd *and last* before I turned 40. By the time we really made the decision to try try it was the beginning of the summer. I have a history of multiple miscarriages including one last March so we were torn if we wanted to go through the emotional rollercoaster again when we were so happy and lucky to have our 1st. I got a couple packages of LH tests and began trying. On our 3rd month I got a positive test! I was frantic to confirm but as it turned out my OB was leaving the practice and was not seeing any newly pregnant patients and my PCP was away in Europe for 3 weeks. So I purchased the hcg tests from Labcorp myself and tested myself every couple days to ensure it was doubling properly!

    About me:
I have one son who is 3.5 and two cats. My husband and I have been together for almost 12 years. We met at a nursing convention when we were both in school. We spent many years traveling the country as traveling nurses until we got pregnant with my son. We continued to travel but only he took contracts and I stayed home. I had a very rough pregnancy with my son as I was diagnosed with cervical insuffiency and admitted to a high risk antepartum unit for 2 months. I spent a total of 17 weeks in bed! But I got my baby to term- and he is perfect! Since then I had several weird, non-traumatic injuries that lead me to a diagnosis of a genetic connective tissue disorder called Ehlers Danlos. (It explains the cervical insuffiency) I have been hesitant to announce to my friends because of my history and my medical condition because there is a high likelihood of having a very similar pregnancy, perhaps worse. But I am being closely monitored by a MFM and I start my weekly cervical length scans until 24 weeks. I started vaginal Progesterone suppositories last week that I will continue until 36+6. Hopefully the close monitoring & medication will help. I am obviously very anxious and just trying to take things day by day here. NIPT results were good and I found out I’m having a girl (which was actually different than my SneakPeek results).

I love hiking, running, dancing and Pilates. I am an avid learner and consumer of all knowledge. I am obsessed with my family and few close friends.

Nice to meet you all and be with you on your journey.

***also really hoping not to gain 69lbs like I did in my last pregnancy. lol. So far I’m at +4lbs!!
  • Hi, I am Christina. I am 46. I have a 9 year old son and an 11 year old daughter.
Found out: Funny story. I missed my period and really thought I was in perimenopause. I waited a couple weeks then took another month of pills, then missed another period. Around that time I had a stomach virus (had just returned from Mexico. After I got better, I was having bad heartburn and a little nausea. Still didn't put it together. I was talking to my girlfriend one day about how the steak I cooked didn't seem good to me, and how it was weird my boobs seemed bigger since you would think in perimenopause if anything they would shrink. That night in the shower it finally occurred to me to rest and boom - I was 10 weeks.
About me: Married, living in Northern CA. I had just returned to work as a personal trainer but I've since stopped working again. I'm due May 14 with a boy. Still in shock this is happening as it's a pretty huge curve ball in all of our lives. Physically I'm feeling really good. I've never had to deal with much nausea in pregnancy. My only real pregnancy complaint is I have chronic plantar fasciitis which gets worse with the relaxin and extra weight, but so far it hasn't been bothering me.
