2nd Trimester Symptoms

Re: 2nd Trimester Symptoms

  • @hedgepig I lost some hair in my first pregnancy, During. It literally felt like my hair never grew. Then after I had her, grew like a weed but then had the typical hair loss when I stopped breastfeeding. Hopefully it’s just hormones and not anything too serious 🤞🏽

  • The weirdest thing ever. Never experienced this with my other four, but i took my bra off the other day and my nipples looked like they were peeling.

    WHAT is this sorcery?! LOL!
I told my husband LOOK WHAT IS THIS??!!
i was like surely I’m not lactating, at 15 wks, but it was weird. I could definitely like remove the skin. 🤣😖 TMI, i know.
The next day, like nothing had happened. So weird.
  • @k_sims add iit to the list of strangest pregnancy symptoms 🤷🏼‍♀️ almost sounds like it could be dried milk but you would have leaked through your bra in that case. So weird. Molting nipples lol
  • @k_sims mine have been extremely dry and itchy and flaky. I don't think it's milk. I only stopped breastfeeding 2 months before I got pregnant but I can't squeeze any milk out anymore if I try, although I could in the beginning or pregnancy. I didn't have this with my first either, but I'm not enjoying it. Pregnancy is weird.
  • @k_sims @dinomeetsjedi Mine have also been a little peel-y, but not as much as what @k_sims described. Interestingly enough, I stopped BFing 18 months ago and was able to squeeze milk out up until a few weeks ago, and now nothing too! Bodies are weird.

  • The nausea and fatigue have still been on and off for me. Yesterday I couldn’t keep any food down and had to take a day off work, but today I’m feeling just fine and could eat anything (McDonalds poutine mmmmm).

I puked A LOT during the first trimester, so I’m hoping it goes away. The doctor says I might feel a lot better in the second trimester.

is anyone else starting to show? I admit I can’t quite tell because I’ve always been bigger but my stomach is feeling firmer. I’m going to need some maternity scrubs soon for work 😂
  • I keep waking up with aching legs. Not like cramps, just... sore. Anyone else? Did you find anything that helps relieve the pain?

@tangiblycool I hope the nausea goes away completely soon! I still randomly puke my dinner sometimes but it's becoming maybe a once every 2 weeks thing now so there's improvement. (18 weeks now)

I'm on the chubbier side too so I haven't noticed any official bump yet but it is getting firmer below the belly button!
  • I have not been on here in a minute so - hi all!

Also - I think I have some pregnancy congestion or something similar? I had a bad (not covid) cough a lot of September and now don't have it but feel like I still have some mucus build up or what not because I will gag frequently. I have to be careful brushing my teeth and coughing after like, walking uphill and as someone who's a big vomit phobe who had no nausea either pregnancy it is very unfun.
  • I see multiple people talking about the nipple stuff and I definitely have had wet nipples or nipples with dried SOMETHING on them. My sister informed me that many women leak colostrum(precursor to breastmilk) during 2nd and 3rd trimester and thats what appears to be happening. She recommended nursing bras with the pads or just straight up nursing pads so not as much dries to the nipple. Whenever it happens, I just use a warm wet wash cloth to clean up. Hope that helps for the ladies who are experiencing this too!
  • The last 2 times my husband and I have had sex, I've had a burning/stinging sensation in my vagina for about 10 minutes after. No pain during, we always use lube, haven't done/used anything new and no other symptoms like discharge or odor. The NP thinks baby may just be laying on a nerve and isn't concerned since the pain comes on after sex, doesn't last long, and I don't have any other symptoms. I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced anything like this and if it's gone away for them, or continued until the end of their pregnancy.
  • When did everyone first feel baby move? I am approaching 20 weeks and am not sure that I have. Everyone keeps asking me and it makes me nervous that I haven't!

  • @m2b2024 I am almost 21 weeks and have not felt baby yet. Doc reassured me at apt on Friday that because the placenta is anterior it could be a few more weeks or even month until I feel her. Not sure if that's why you haven't felt anything yet but maybe your doc can confirm.
  • @aby1228 make sense, I have my 20week US next week so I am hoping to find out then where my placenta is and see if that's impacting my ability to feel movements.
  • @m2b2024 This is my 3rd baby, and usually you feel movement earlier with successive pregnancies but this baby took the longest. I have an anterior placenta and I didn’t feel him until 22 weeks this time.

  • @cmill828 i definitely feel a lot of pressure after DTD but not a stinging sensation before. I will say that pregnancy causes incredibly strange symptoms. Are you using water based lube? A lot of times that can evaporate pretty quickly. Best advice an old midwife ever game me was to use organic unrefined coconut oil- like what you buy at the grocery- as lube. It won’t evaporate.
  • @m2b2024 I felt her at 17 weeks. Like a tap tap tap from the inside while I was laying down. No mistaking it for gas that time lol. I have a right lateral placenta so it isn’t in the way very much of her kicks
  • @m2b2024 I'm 22 weeks tomorrow and the movements are finally getting noticeable and more distinct when baby moves. (Especially after I eat) Found out I also have an anterior placenta so there's extra padding for sure haha. I'm excited for when it's able to be felt by feeling my belly. ♡
  • Anyone else getting hot flashes? I'm running pretty hot in general, but then I also get hot flashes too 🥵🥵🥵

  • I think I felt my baby at 18.5 weeks for the first time & have felt it at least once a day since then. It’s usually a blunt kick though, none of these “flutters” that everyone talks about in the beginning 😅 (19w 3d now)
  • Just came here to say that I used my yoga ball for the first time, and Holy Canoli what a game changer! It's provided way more relief to my hips and tailbone than I could've imagined. Highly reccomend!

Mine is in the mail and cannot possibly get her soon enough!
  • Anyone have wrist brace recommendations? Confirmed with the midwife I have pregnancy carpal tunnel. The braces I ordered went to my elbow and we’re so tight I feel like they made my circulation even worse. Thankfully she said it’ll clear up quickly after birth and I cannot wait.
  • @kmw611 maybe kinesio tape instead of a brace? Might be a little more comfortable!
  • Anyone have cramping around 19 weeks? Still feel baby moving around in there but my low pelvis has been very crampy and achy today. I keep telling myself it’s probably stretching/ growing pains but I’m still kind of worried.
  • 27+4 and just noticed a softish lump above my bump. Has this happened to anyone else before? Worried it might be diastasis recti (or worse, since the bump seems lower than earlier in the week)
  • @mom2be_again Maybe Round Ligament pain? A belly band might help!
  • @cioccolata16 is it tender?

  • Not tender, and actually seems to have disappeared. I didn’t realise that baby moving around could change the shape and position of the bump so dramatically. She seems to be back in her usual spot now. What would tenderness indicate?
  • cioccolata16  Maybe she was there for so long that it made that particular spot tender.
My niece used to kick the crap out of my sisters kidney.. like so bad that they could tell it was bruised in an ultrasound.

@mom2be_again yes! I think it’s Braxton hicks 😊 if you find that movement or changing positions doesn’t reduce the cramping, there’s no harm at all in reaching out to your OB!
