I’m totally pining after the bbhugme pregnancy pillow but the cost is keeping me from pulling the trigger. Looks like it would be so useful during those early breastfeeding days too.
Has anyone used a jacket extender? I'm just thinking about having a winter baby and how this could be useful at the end of pregnancy and first month or two if baby-wearing. Any experience?
@night_nurse that looks nice! I've been using a LeachCo prenancy pillow, which is a bit more affordable, and keeps me from rolling onto my back. Seems like it might work for nursing, but I also grabbed a My Brest Friend nursing pillow off of buy nothing. It's a twin and it's HUGE, but the woman I got it from said it was very useful for the first few months with a newborn. I might try to get something more compact after that.
@cioccolata16 I ended up getting one of the mountain marsupial coats - don’t think they make them anymore, though. It’s basically a coat with jacket extender, but has front and back babywearing options. I got sooo much use out of it with my October baby, and a fair bit for my May baby. If you think you’ll babywear wear a lot, I highly recommend.
@cioccolata16 i’ve never had a pregnancy pillow with any previous pregnancy so not sure why im fixated on it! A good nursing pillow is a must though. I looooove my Blessed Nest Organic Nursing pillow. I bought it secondhand for only $50, which is a steal. One of my fave purchases of my 2nd pregnancy.
“ The Nesting Pillow is filled with organic buckwheat hulls, which make it possible to shift the contents around like a bean bag to find the perfect position unique to each mother and baby. Once the position is set the little pyramid-shaped hulls inside the pillow interlock together to conform to the shape and hold the position. Additionally, the unique filling allows air to circulate keeping both baby and mother cool and comfortable.”
@cioccolata16 my #2, #3 and this one are all very close in dates. I live in a place where it gets very cold and I spend a lot of time outside. I've never done anything other than borrow a coat one size up from my sister and/or cram myself into what I already have. I am even planning on just wearing my winter coveralls!
@cioccolata16 It doesn't get particularly cold here, but when it was snowy/winter during my first pregnancy I wore my regular coat and just left it open - I was so overheated all the time that it was plenty warm.

The few maternity clothes I ordered were mostly a bust! I need some tried and true recommendations! Ideally simple staple items that are flattering but not overly 'maternity' looking.
@farm_mama I ordered a few wrap dresses off of eBay that are working out well, all from Motherhood. I haven’t wanted to break the bank on maternity clothes, so I bought them secondhand, but I think they’ll definitely last through the pregnancy and probably post-partum. I also like Old Navy’s slim cut pants—not too expensive, and they’re pretty similar to what I usually wear.
